Trevor Ariza scored a season-high 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting in Tuesday's loss to the Raptors, adding eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and five 3-pointers.

After a disastrous October with 6.2 points per game on 24.4 percent shooting, Ariza has found his rhythm again and is producing second-round value in standard 9-category leagues in November with 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 3.4 triples. If you stuck with him during the bad times, Ariza made up for it by carrying his owners over the past two weeks.

Markelle Fultz started in Tuesday's season opener vs. Boston, but was held to five points on 2-of-7 shots.

He played 21 first half minutes, but played just three in the second half with the 76ers in comeback mode. He was also a -16 for the night, so it's not like he deserved more run. Fultz added just three rebounds, two assists and a steal with three turnovers, and he looked lost for most of the game and wasn't aggressive. The 76ers have a cupcake matchup vs. the Bulls on Thursday, so we will be really concerned if he posts another dud in that one.
Oct 16 - 11:25 PM

Ben Simmons posted a monster line in Tuesday's season opener, scoring 19 points with 15 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and two blocks in 43 minutes.

Coach Brett Brown didn't want to take him off the floor and it's hard to blame him. He looked like he was on another level for stretches of the game and had some phenomenal moments which included a no-look dish over his head to a cutting Markelle Fultz. His problems from the free throw line won't go away any time soon (5-of-11 FTs), but if you're willing to punt a category or two (free throws and 3-pointers/turnovers), Simmons could be a first-round value.
Oct 16 - 11:17 PM

Joel Embiid's 23 points weren't enough in Tuesday's 105-87 season-opening loss to Boston.

Embiid also racked up 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 37 minutes, hitting 9-of-21 shots and 4-of-5 free throws. The NBA’s leader in preseason usage rate (36.0) was getting whatever he wanted offensively (we even saw a skyhook) and had some emphatic blocks, but he was also careless with the ball with several lazy passes. We’ll chalk that up to some early-season rust, and it’s clear we’re in for a monster season as Embiid pursues the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Oct 16 - 11:11 PM

Terry Rozier scored 11 points (5-of-10 FGs) with eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one triple in 27 minutes vs. the 76ers on Tuesday.

This game was very encouraging in terms of workload — he and Marcus Morris were the first two Celtics off the bench, Rozier played several minutes to Kyrie Irving and he also closed both halves. He even checked in for Kyrie with 4:28 left in the fourth quarter and drilled a 3-pointer to put this game to bed. Coach Brad Stevens is going to find a way to get Rozier on the court despite a deep Boston roster and he has Sixth Man of the Year written all over him. He’s only owned in 71% of Yahoo Leagues, so make sure your league isn’t one of them.
Oct 16 - 10:57 PM

Gordon Hayward scored 10 points in Boston's regular-season opener, hitting 4-of-12 shots with five rebounds and four steals in 25 minutes.

Hayward said he still feels the ankle injury when he jumps off one foot and that his explosion isn’t all the way back, but he looked like his old self for stretches tonight -- he had a couple impressive steals and hit a pair of back-to-back jumpers in the second quarter. Hayward didn’t start the second half, but that’s because coach Brad Stevens wants him on the floor at the end of the game — this will likely be the case for the next few weeks with Hayward on a 25-30 minute restriction. He should only get better as the season progresses, but it's hard to gauge what his fantasy value will be on the deepest team in the East.
Oct 16 - 10:46 PM

Kyrie Irving hit just 2-of-14 shots for seven points in Tuesday's season-opener against the 76ers.

We were expecting some rust, but not this much. Irving was 0-of-8 from the field in the first half, but looked more like himself after the break. The good news is he salvaged his line with seven assists, four rebounds and a triple. Terry Rozier did close this game over Kyrie, but the Celtics did have a double-digit lead at the time. We won't overreact to one bad game, but it's fair to expect some duds from Kyrie since he's coming off a lengthy knee injury and because the Celtics are so deep this year. He'll get a few days off to prepare for a bounce-back effort vs. Toronto on Friday.
Oct 16 - 10:39 PM

Jayson Tatum put on a show in Boston's 105-87 opening-night win over Philly, scoring 23 points with nine rebounds, three assists, one steal and one triple in 29 minutes.

He picked up right where he left off as a rookie. Tatum scored nine of Boston's first 11 points, finishing 9-of-17 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line. Kyrie Irving's jumper wasn't working, so Tatum was the clear focal point of the offense. That's not going to be the case every night on one of the NBA's deepest teams, but this game was super encouraging and it looks like Tatum has taken another leap as a player. He's a superstar in the making.
Oct 16 - 10:32 PM

Terrance Ferguson will start at shooting guard for the Thunder on opening night against the Warriors.

The Thunder will also start Dennis Schroder at PG guard (Russell Westbrook (knee) is out), Paul George at SF, Patrick Patterson at PF and Steven Adams at C. Ferguson was iffy with a concussion, but he's ready to go. Eventually, the Thunder will start Westbrook and (probably) Andre Roberson in the backcourt, but for now, Schroder has potential to be a beast, while Ferguson is worth keeping a close eye on tonight.
Oct 16 - 10:28 PM

Steven Adams (lower back stiffness) will play on Tuesday vs. the Warriors.

He was a true game-time call with coach Billy Donovan being non-committal on his status two separate times. Whether or not Adams is limited remains to be seen, but season-long owners should roll the dice on him in weekly lineups. If you picked up Nerlens Noel, it's not a bad idea to hold onto him until we see how Adams looks.
Oct 16 - 9:48 PM

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (groin) is officially being listed as questionable for Wednesday's season opener against the Pistons.

RHJ missed the entire preseason with the groin issue, but he's been a full participant at recent practices, which is a positive sign regarding his status for opening night. The Nets will re-evaluate him after shootaround, so we should get official word by Wednesday afternoon. Stay tuned.
Oct 16 - 6:43 PM

Gordon Hayward will be in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the 76ers.

Joining Hayward in the starting five will be Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford, which is the same starting lineup they opened with last year. Hayward will be limited to 25-30 minutes for the first few weeks of the season, but that's still plenty of time for him to contribute meaningful stat lines. Go ahead and get him active.
