The Raptors mounted a furious comeback attempt on Saturday, ultimately falling 127-125 despite DeMar DeRozan's game-high 42 points on 17-of-31 FGs and 8-of-10 FTs.

DeRozan was phenomenal but Toronto's defense was the issue, as they gave up 81 points in the first half and trailed by as many as 27 points tonight. He added five rebounds, three assists and two turnovers in 38 minutes, with a huge usage rate in the absence of Kyle Lowry (tailbone). As a footnote, DeRozan's big game tonight also pushed him past Vince Carter as the Raptors' all-time leader in games with 30+ points (92 games). He's surging as a top-20 value over the past month.

Myles Turner wasn't great on Friday, scoring 11 points (5-of-13 shooting) with just four rebounds, and one block in 27 minutes against the Bucks.

Turner struggled with his shot on Friday and missed all of his 3-pointers (0-of-4). The four rebounds is a little concerning, but he did register eight on Wednesday. Domantas Sabonis had another nice game off the bench, notching his second double-double in as many games. The Pacers are committed to Turner, as shown by his recent contract extension, and he's still poised for a bounce back campaign. He'll be fine.

Domantas Sabonis notched his second straight double-double on Friday, scoring 12 points (4-of-6 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) with 13 rebounds (six offensive), three assists, and one steal in 22 minutes against the Bucks.

Sabonis has been on a roll since the beginning of the preseason, playing a big part in the Pacers game plan. He had a monster dunk over both Brook Lopez and Giannis Antetokounmpo (see link below) and made his presence felt on the glass all night. He shared the floor with Myles Turner for a few minutes again in this one, which is great for Sabonis' value. He's a must-own player in all formats.

Victor Oladipo made 10-of-23 shots for 25 points, adding five rebounds, one assist, one block, one 3-pointer, and two turnovers in 32 minutes against the Bucks on Friday.

After only scoring 16 in the opener, it's good to see Oladipo with a 20-point outing, albeit an inefficient one. He didn't make an impact in the assist department, partly because the Pacers struggled with the Bucks defense. Still, Oladipo is poised for a monster fantasy season and will look to continue that on Saturday against the Nets.

Willie Cauley-Stein kept his foot on the gas with 20 points, seven rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes vs. the Pelicans on Friday.

WCS finished 9-of-14 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line, but didn't record any blocks. There's still not much to complain about here, especially after his big opening night with 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. He's a safe play for now, but he'll have to hold off Harry Giles going forward.
Oct 19 - 11:30 PM

Marvin Bagley scored 19 points (7-of-10 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs) off the bench in Friday's blowout defeat vs. the Pelicans, adding eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block in 33 minutes.

That's more like it after Bagley surprisingly played just 12 minutes in the opener. Coach Dave Joerger talked about how it was hard to find minutes for all his young bigs, but Bagley expressed his displeasure about it and backed it up with action tonight -- he showed no hesitation on offense and went right at Anthony Davis. Double check your wire to make sure he wasn't dropped, but expect some inconsistency due to the rookie learning curve and Joerger's wacky rotations.

Caris LeVert hit a game-winning layup with 1.0 seconds left to beat the Knicks 107-105 on Friday, making 8-of-13 from the field for a career-high 28 points with six rebounds, five assists and two 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

Welcome the LeVert Era Brooklyn Nets. He cleaned up a the line with a 10-of-11 performance from there and for the second straight game it's clear as day he is the best perimeter player on this team. LeVert is the first player in Nets franchise history with at least 27 points, four rebounds and four assists in each of the first two games of a season. In two games, he has a superstar-like 29.8 usage rate and a 69.9 TS% to give him incredible efficiency to go with these stat-stuffing games. Sure, it's only two games, but all LeVert owners can pat themselves on the back because he looks like he's going to be a fantasy star this season.

Nikola Mirotic scored a career-high 36 points in Friday's 149-129 thrashing of the Kings, hitting 14-of-21 shots, 5-of-9 triples and 3-of-6 free throws.

What a way to answer his 30-point, 10-rebound season opener. Mirotic also pulled down nine rebounds with a pair of assists, helping New Orleans crush their franchise-record for points in regulation (previous: 139). That's also the most points any NBA team has scored in regulation since Phoenix in 2010 (152). The addition of Julius Randle hasn't hurt Mirotic at all with the Pelicans using a three-man rotation up front, and all signs continue to point to a monster year.
Oct 19 - 10:51 PM

Anthony Davis was dominant in Friday's win over the Kings, scoring 25 points with 10 rebounds, six assists, two steals, two blocks and a triple.

He took an early seat after 27 minutes because of the lopsided score, finishing 8-of-12 from the field and 8-of-12 from the line. AD's assists (14 combined over first two games) have been a nice surprise, so the most unfair player in fantasy basketball may have just taken his game to the next level. If he stays healthy, it would be a huge upset if he's not the No. 1 ranked player in fantasy when all is said and done.
Oct 19 - 10:44 PM

Jarrett Allen had another outstanding game on Friday, scoring 15 points with 11 rebounds and four blocks in 34 minute against the Knicks.

He's a special talent and all those preseason concerns have been put to bed so far. Allen joined elite company today to become the first player since Tim Duncan (2003-04 season) to register a double-double and four blocks in each of the first two games of a season. He's an equal-opportunity blocker and his growth as an offensive weapon is beyond even the wildest of expectations. Allen looks like he's well on his way to early-round value in standard leagues as he makes a case for Most Improved Player.
Oct 19 - 10:41 PM

Tim Hardaway Jr. made 10-of-25 from the field for 29 points with two rebounds, three steals and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes against the Nets during a 107-105 loss on Friday.

He got the last shot at the buzz, but he couldn't get the deep three to go down. It's bombs away for THJ with 22 shots from the field in the opener and another game with massive usage tonight. With Frank Ntilikina basically being more of a defensive contributor and the Knicks starting Lance Thomas, there will be a litany of shots available for THJ in this first unit. He'll have his slumps, but Hardaway Jr. should have a shot at scoring in the 20s this season.
Oct 19 - 10:16 PM

JaMychal Green (mouth) will not return to Friday's game vs. the Hawks.

He took a shot to the mouth and will need some dental work. Green was able to play through some left knee soreness before that, finishing with six points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 14 minutes. Jaren Jackson Jr. is putting on a show right now and should get extended run in the fourth.
