Paul George made a Thunder postseason record eight 3-pointers on Sunday, finishing a Game 1 victory with 36 points on 13-of-20 shooting, seven rebounds and one steal.

Before the series, George referred to his postseason persona as "Playoff P", adding, "It's a fun person to watch. It's an out-of-body person where I just lock in and put myself into a different zone." He was in that zone at both ends tonight, and he carried OKC's offense early with 20 points during the first half alone. He started taking heat-check triples with his team up double-digits in the second half, drained a buzzer-beater to end the third quarter, and the Thunder never looked back in a 116-108 home win. The only negative is that Playoff P suffered "muscle tightness" in his back tonight, according to coach Billy Donovan, so we'll keep a close watch on his status prior to Game 2 on Wednesday.
Apr 15 - 9:11 PM

Fred VanVleet got the start with Kawhi Leonard out with a hip injury on Tuesday and had a career-high 10 assists by halftime.

He finished with five points, six rebounds, a career-high 14 assists and a 3-pointer in 29 minutes. VanVleet should return to the bench soon, assuming Kawhi's injury isn't serious, but if you used him in DFS tonight, he came through in a big way. If Kawhi's out again on Wednesday against the Warriors, FVV will be a popular play again in DFS.
Dec 12 - 1:07 AM

Kyle Lowry picked a trio of the league's best defensive guards to break out of a slump against on Tuesday, hitting 8-of-13 shots and four 3-pointers for 21 points, five rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block in a 123-99 rout of the Clippers.

There it is. Lowry came in really struggling, scoring seven or fewer points in his previous four games, hitting 4-of-28 shots along the way. That all changed tonight, and the fact he did it against the defense of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Patrick Beverley and Avery Bradley is impressive, to say the least. Ding, dong baby, the slump is dead!
Dec 12 - 1:04 AM

Bryn Forbes started again and hit 8-of-14 shots, 5-of-5 3-pointers and 3-of-3 free throws for a season-high 24 points, a career-high 11 rebounds, three assists and a steal in 32 minutes of Tuesday's win over the Suns.

He came out on fire tonight and stayed that way, as the Suns refused to guard him. Derrick White fizzled again and Forbes has now scored in double digits in three straight games, making him worth a look in most leagues, despite playing for the wishy-washy Spurs. Just know that this may end up being his best game of the season, as he had everything working against one of the league's worst teams.
Dec 11 - 10:57 PM

De'Anthony Melton started at point guard again on Tuesday and hit 7-of-16 shots and three 3-pointers for 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and five turnovers in 33 minutes.

Devin Booker was out with his hamstring injury and Elie Okobo is in the G-League, clearing the way for Melton to run the show in Phoenix. Melton's averaging 14 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.8 3-pointers on 43 percent shooting over his last five, and we've been touting him as a pickup for about a week. It's officially time to move on him.
Dec 11 - 10:51 PM

Chris Paul had 11 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and a block for his first triple-double of the season on Tuesday, but hit just 2-of-12 shots in the win.

The Rockets shook it up tonight, starting Eric Gordon over James Ennis, scored a season-high number of points in the paint, and saw their bench, which is the lowest scoring one in the league at 28.2 points per game, come through with 37 points in the tough win.
Dec 11 - 10:29 PM

James Ennis suffered a right hamstring injury on Tuesday night, and as we feared, will not return to the game.

He missed time earlier this season with the same injury, and while it only kept him out for three games, hamstring injuries are tricky in the NBA - especially when recurring. Eric Gordon, Gerald Green and Danuel House are all playing well tonight, and should continue to do so as long as Ennis is sidelined.
Dec 11 - 9:56 PM

Fred VanVleet is starting alongside Kyle Lowry, Danny Green, Pascal Siakam and Serge Ibaka on Tuesday, with Kawhi Leonard sidelined with his hip injury.

VanVleet should get plenty of run tonight, while players like C.J. Miles, OG Anunoby, Danny Green and Kyle Lowry should all see a boost in usage, as well. Leonard is also iffy for Wednesday against the Warriors with the injury.
Dec 11 - 9:52 PM

Kawhi Leonard (hip) will not play for the Raptors on Tuesday night.

This is the first game of a back-to-back set for the Raptors and Leonard went from likely to play, to questionable to play, to 'out' throughout the day. This was the first back-to-back set that Kawhi was supposed to play both nights of, but the hip injury isn't going to allow it to happen. It will also leave him iffy for Wednesday night against the Warriors, and owners have to be hoping that the Raptors are just being careful and saving him for Steph Curry and company tomorrow. Guys like Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, Danny Green and C.J. Miles could all step up in his place tonight, while Kyle Lowry has a good shot at bouncing out of his slump.
Dec 11 - 9:07 PM

Lou Williams won't play on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury suffered on Monday night.

This is good news for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Avery Bradley should see some extra run, and Tyrone Wallace could get some meaningful minutes against the Raptors tonight.
Dec 11 - 8:59 PM

Trevor Ariza is on the active list for Tuesday vs. the Spurs, but may not play.

Suns beat reporter Gina Mizell noted that Ariza is at the arena, but he didn't take the floor for warmups. The Suns are starting Josh Jackson in his place, and you have to wonder if there's a trade brewing -- he's been linked to at least eight teams and the Lakers are currently the favorites.
Dec 11 - 8:29 PM

Josh Jackson will replace Trevor Ariza in the starting lineup on Tuesday vs. the Spurs.

Ariza's days in Phoenix are numbered, and Jackson is coming off one of his best games of the season with 18 points, a career-high eight assists, four rebounds, one steal, one block and two triples in 31 minutes. This also gives the Suns another playmaker to take the pressure off De'Anthony Melton, as Elie Okobo was assigned to the G-League. Jackson is capable of putting up terrific counting stats, but his shooting percentages and turnovers that you have to worry about.
