Luka Doncic said he hasn't made a decision about joining the NBA in 2018-19.

He's currently focused on his season with Real Madrid and won't make a decision until later in the summer. "Ι’m not sure if these are my last two games [in EuroLeague]," Doncic said. "We have yet to make this decision. Perhaps after the season." Maybe he doesn't want to upset his current teammates during their title run or maybe his camp is using this is as leverage to steer him to a specific destination, but this is a story to monitor closely over the next few weeks.

Coach Luke Walton said that he thinks Rajon Rondo (hand) will play Thursday vs. Minnesota barring any setbacks, but that he has not seen LeBron James (groin) do any contact yet, so is less confident he’ll be ready for Thursday.

LeBron is heading in the right direction, as he was able to go through some "5-on-5 non-contact work" on Sunday. However, the Lakers want to make sure he is as close to 100% as possible before clearing him to return to game action. We should have an update on his status after practice on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Luke Walton says he thinks Rajon Rondo (hand) will play Thursday vs. Minnesota as long as he doesn’t have any setbacks.

It was initially predicted Rondo would miss 4-5 weeks when he went down at the end of December, but he's well ahead of schedule. With Lonzo Ball (ankle) sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks, Rondo will likely see all the minutes he can handle at point guard once he gets up to speed and is in full game shape. Brandon Ingram will shift back to the wing. Over his first seven games with the Lakers, Rondo was averaging 11.9 points, 6.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals. If he still on the wire, he's worth grabbing in most fantasy leagues.

Donovan Mitchell shot 12-of-28 from the field and 10-of-12 from the foul line Monday vs. the Trail Blazers, accounting for a game-high 34 points with seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

After getting off to a hot start Monday, scoring nine points on 4-of-5 shooting in the first quarter, Mitchell went quiet before flipping the switch in the fourth quarter. During one stretch of action in the final stanza the second-year guard scored all 14 of Utah’s points, keeping the Jazz within striking distance in a game the team would ultimately lose. Over the last five games Mitchell is averaging 30.0 points, 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds per with shooting splits of 46.4/28.9/84.1. The return of Ricky Rubio (hamstring) is likely to impact Mitchell's workload eventually, but not for now as the veteran point guard is on a minutes restriction.

Damian Lillard helped lead Portland to its first win over the Jazz this season by scoring 26 points (10-of-20 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs) with eight rebounds, eight assists and one three-pointer in 36 minutes of action.

In Portland’s first two meetings with the Jazz, Lillard averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game with shooting splits of 43.2/46.2/50.0. While the All-NBA guard shot just 1-of-5 from three on the night, he was 9-of-15 inside of the arc and also shot the ball well from the foul line. Lillard, who has now scored 24 points or more in five consecutive games, is averaging 28.8 points, 6.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds per during that stretch.

Kenneth Faried made his Rockets debut on Monday, scoring 13 points (5-of-7 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs) with six rebounds in 23 minutes.

Asked before the game if he would limit Faried's minutes initially, coach Mike D'Antoni replied, "He hasn’t played in about three years, so he should have plenty of energy." Faried steps into a void at center without Clint Capela (thumb) for 4-6 weeks, and it wouldn't be surprising if he starts as soon as Wednesday's road game vs. the Knicks. Given the glaring opportunity, Faried is worth grabbing if you need rebounds and a boost in FG%. Just don't expect many defensive stats and be aware of his career 65.4% free throw shooting.

Joel Embiid (back) piled up 32 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals on Monday, making 9-of-16 FGs and 14-of-17 FTs in an easy win vs. Houston.

Embiid wasn't officially announced as a starter until minutes before tip-off, but fortunately for owners he started the week with a huge, category-stuffing performance. It helped that he was playing a Houston team without Clint Capela (thumb), and with Kenneth Faried making his debut in a prominent role. Embiid gets two days to rest before Wednesday's game vs. the visiting Spurs, so owners can be confident he'll be ready to go.

Corey Brewer started for Jimmy Butler (mild wrist sprain) on Monday, picking up 11 points, three rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist in 33 minutes.

Brewer was the primary defender vs. James Harden and things got testy between them, apparently by design. Asked about Harden before the game, Brewer said, "The way he’s playing right now, nothing can help you ... [I'll just] do what I do. That’s being a pest and playing hard." Brewer was impressive and has his new coach's trust, but he can be left on the waiver wire in 12-team leagues. Butler is just day-to-day with his injury, and Brewer is also playing on a 10-day contract. Even if his deal is renewed and eventually guaranteed, it'll be hard for him to carve out value when Butler is active.
Jan 21 - 10:39 PM

Dion Waiters sparked a failed comeback attempt on Monday, scoring 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting with two 3-pointers, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes.

Erik Spoelstra praised Waiters after his strong play on Saturday, saying, "For guys working their way back into the rotation, like Dion, it's not easy ... He made his minutes memorable." That didn't stop Waiters from taking a public jab at coach Spo on Instagram for not starting him yet -- if he continues to play this well, maybe he'll force Spo's hand. He's not an enviable fantasy asset, though, because he rarely offers supporting stats so when shots aren't falling his value tanks in a hurry.

Josh Hart will join the Lakers' starting lineup in place of Lonzo Ball (ankle) on Monday.

L.A. doesn't have a ton of alternatives. It should be Brandon Ingram as the primary ball-handler tonight, but Hart should play huge minutes and Kyle Kuzma will get all the shots he can handle.
Jan 21 - 9:00 PM

Kyrie Irving swiped a career-high eight steals vs. the Heat on Monday, adding 26 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, two 3-pointers and one block.

In the process, Kyrie became the first Celtics player since Larry Bird to get 20+ points and 10+ assists in at least 10 games during a season. He's simply on fire with averages of 30.8 points, 3.5 triples, 11.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 0.8 blocks in four games since returning from a one-game absence last Wednesday. Even beyond the elite scoring, his game right now is as well-rounded as the Earth.
Jan 21 - 8:52 PM

Ricky Rubio (right hamstring) will come off Utah's bench on Monday.

Rubio is on a minute-limit but coach Quin Snyder didn't specify how much he'll be allowed in his return. Despite the reserve role tonight, it shouldn't take long for Rubio to displace Royce O'Neale and shift back into the starting unit.
