Tyronn Lue said he intends to return as coach of the Cavs next season.

Lue dealt with some challenging health issues stemming from anxiety during the 2017-18 regular season, but received beneficial treatment. "I had some tough problems going on throughout the course of the season, and ... I probably could have folded myself, but I wasn't going to do that," said Lue after Game 4. The question Cavs fans are wondering is whether or not Lue will be coaching LeBron James in Cleveland next season.

Andre Drummond (nasal injury) will not return on Friday.

It took about 35 minutes for the Pistons to rule him out after the injury occurred. Drummond took a shot to the face from James Johnson and was bleeding. Perhaps he broke his nose, or it could be related to the nose surgery he had a couple years ago. With him out, Zaza Pachulia will see more minutes while the Pistons use Blake Griffin at the five.

Ish Smith (groin) will not return on Friday.

He has tightness in the same area of his adductor strain that kept him out for over a month, but the team said it's not an aggravation. Still, it's possible he misses time, which will give more run to Langston Galloway, Luke Kennard and Bruce Brown. There really isn't a strong add to make here.

DeMar DeRozan (left ankle) will not play on Friday night against the Wolves.

The ankle soreness note was not revealed until after he was ruled out, and coach Gregg Popovich said earlier today he was available. It's not a back-to-back set for the Spurs, so this comes as a major surprise with no warning from the Spurs, and he was even listed with the starters. DeRozan called his slump a "natural dip" in the "dog days" of the season, so maybe this day off is to help him get right. Pau Gasol will get the start while the entire rotation will step up. Marco Belinelli and Patty Mills should see more run off the bench, too.

Isaiah Thomas (hip) is targeting a return on February 11th against the Heat or February 13th against the Kings according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Thomas' now-deleted tweet of "25 days" fits this timeline. According to Woj, Thomas "has been gathering momentum in his rehabilitation process from hip surgery in March" and there is "strong confidence that he will return no later than the first game of the post-All Star break on Feb. 22 in Dallas." Thomas is expected to go through 5-on-5 scrimmages in the near future, and while this is great news for Denver, fantasy owners shouldn't be rushing to the wire to grab him outside of deeper formats -- Denver is deep at both guard spots and Thomas will have heavy restrictions.

Tyler Johnson will start for Josh Richardson (illness) on Friday night against the Pistons.

Coach Erik Spoelstra with no surprises here as he moves Johnson into the first unit. This should mean that Dion Waiters subs in for Justise Winslow while Derrick Jones Jr. comes off the bench in the second unit as a multiple-position player. Johnson should offer some upside and may pick up most of Richardson's playing time, so he's an option in DFS or as a streamer. Jones Jr. is a high-upside option, as well.
Jan 18 - 6:21 PM

Joel Embiid (back tightness) is questionable Saturday against the Thunder.

He's going to be appearing on the injury report more often these days. Embiid was laboring through his back injury on Thursday, and it's possible he's dealing with even more soreness after 35 minutes of action. It's not a back-to-back set, but Embiid said the issue comes and goes. If he's out, Mike Muscala would be an option while Jonah Bolden and Amir Johnson could play more.

Josh Richardson (illness) will not play against the Pistons on Friday night.

The Heat's rotation won't be quite as messy with one of the staples out of the mix today. Coach Erik Spoelstra will probably put Tyler Johnson in the first unit and use Dion Waiters and/or Wayne Ellington as a backup guard. Spo likes Derrick Jones Jr. because he can play so many positions, so he will likely be coming off the bench in his versatile role. Both Tyler and Airplane Mode are streamers or DFS plays today.

Wendell Carter Jr. (thumb) is expected to have surgery and miss the next 8-12 weeks.

Ouch. According to the team, a second review of all tests determined the extent of the thumb injury and associated instability. This news puts the rookie's season in jeopardy, and it makes the Bulls even more likely to tank perhaps even more than last year. Carter Jr. hasn't officially opted for surgery, so he's not an absolute drop yet, but it sounds likely. Despite Bobby Portis struggling on offense, he is worth a pickup in standard leagues and Robin Lopez could be worth a look for center-needy owners, but Lopez is likely to be traded very soon. Jabari Parker could be worth a look with his potent scoring in 15-20 minutes while Cris Felicio is worth a stash in super deep leagues.

Dewayne Dedmon (ankle) is probable vs. the Celtics on Saturday.

It sounds like he's back after a week on the sidelines. While he was out, Alex Len had one of his best runs of the season, including season-high 24 points on Tuesday. Dedmon would likely move back into the starting lineup to push Omari Spellman out, and Len would lose a lot of his ceiling in fantasy. There's risk Dedmon could be traded, but he's worth owning in standard leagues.
Jan 18 - 3:22 PM

John Collins (illness) is questionable against the Celtics on Saturday.

He has bronchitis-type symptoms, so it would appear he has something different from Trae Young. Collins had a few days off from Tuesday, so his ankle soreness should feel better -- he was questionable for that one. If he can't go today, Omari Spellman would likely play more power forward while Vince Carter could be looking at more playing time.
Jan 18 - 3:20 PM

Trae Young (illness) is questionable for Saturday against the Celtics.

He has flu-like symptoms and there's no much else known here because the Hawks have been off since Tuesday. Young's shot selection has vastly improved with coach Lloyd Pierce telling him to get downhill more, and it's led to better efficiency. If he can't go, Jeremy Lin would likely start with Jaylen Adams getting the backup minutes.
