Pascal Siakam had another strong game on Wednesday with 21 points (8-of-11 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), three rebounds, two steals and one assist in 35 minutes.

C.J. Miles was out tonight with right hip bursitis so there were roughly 15 extra minutes up for grabs in the Raptors' rotation. Norman Powell is out 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury and this is where Toronto's depth is so valuable -- guys like Danny Green, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby and Delon Wright can all pick up a few extra minutes. Siakam is emerging as a Most Improved Player candidate and he's putting up mid-round fantasy value in just 27.2 minutes per game.

In his return to Utah's starting lineup, Ricky Rubio scored 17 points with six assists, three rebounds and two 3-pointers, making 6-of-10 FGs and 3-of-3 FTs in just 24 minutes.

Rubio missed six games with a hamstring injury and admitted that he was "rusty ... forcing too much" during his return on Monday. He's still on a minute-limit and there's no clear indication when it will be lifted, but tonight's stellar effort suggests he should be safe to activate in almost any league. It helps that Utah doesn't play a back-to-back set until Feb. 1/2, as they conclude the month with games on Friday (vs. Minnesota), Sunday (at Minnesota) and next Wednesday (at Portland).

Donovan Mitchell tied his season-high with six 3-pointers on Wednesday, scoring 35 points (12-of-25 FGs, 5-of-9 FTs) with six rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.

The Jazz set a franchise record with 13 triples in the first half tonight, led by Mitchell with four, and he's now scored 24+ points in 10 straight games. After a disappointing start to the season, including December averages of 18.2 points on 38.1% shooting, Mitchell is back to elite franchise-player form. It's easy to forget that he's just 22 years old in his second NBA season.

Will Barton made 8-of-13 and 2-of-2 FTs with four 3-pointers on Wednesday, scoring 22 points with nine rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in 30 minutes.

Barton missed 38 games while recovering from hip surgery earlier this season, but said before this game, "My confidence is back." That was obvious tonight, despite a few unfortunate fouls on Jae Crowder in the fourth quarter, and apparently his minute-limit has been eased up -- he had been limited to around 20 minutes per game. "It’s time to take it to the next step and become the player I was, who I am, and be even better than that," Barton said. Fantasy owners can hardly ask for a bigger 'step' forward than he took tonight.

E'Twaun Moore finished Wednesday's game with five points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said before the game that Moore has been playing through injuries, and there's "a good chance" he'll be rested on Thursday in the second half of a back-to-back set. Gentry also alluded to strategic DNPs near the All-Star break to give Moore an extended break to fully recover, and none of this is encouraging for a guy with borderline fantasy value even when he's healthy. Cut him if you've been on the fence, and expect Darius Miller to benefit the most when he's unavailable.

In his second straight start, Jahlil Okafor set a career high with six blocked shots, adding 17 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes vs. Detroit.

Okafor tied his career-high with four blocks in the first quarter alone tonight, giving New Orleans some much-needed rim protection in Anthony Davis' (finger) absence. AD will be re-evaluated on Friday and could return as soon as next week. He needs the swelling to go down, which will increase his range of motion, and he'll be re-evaluated "every 48 to 72 hours." Anyone relying on Okafor will therefore need to continually check on Davis' status. Once he's healthy, there's no reason to think Okafor will maintain value in standard leagues.
Jan 24 - 12:25 AM

DeMar DeRozan made 12-of-19 shots for 26 points against the 76ers, adding nine rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals in 37 minutes on Wednesday.

This was a much needed bounce back performance by DeRozan, who struggled in his first game back from a one-game absence last time out. He continues to be the focal point of the Spurs offense, which is why it was interesting that he wasn't on the floor when they were down two with 1.1 seconds left and a chance to tie or win the game. There's nothing to worry about, though, and hopefully this game gets him on a hot streak heading into the All-Star break.
Jan 24 - 12:06 AM

Blake Griffin was a one-man wrecking crew on Wednesday, scoring 37 points with nine rebounds, seven assists, four 3-pointers and one steal in a 98-94 road win vs. New Orleans.

Griffin committed just one turnover in 38 minutes of action, all while shooting 14-of-28 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line. He's keeping the Pistons in the playoff chase as the No. 9 seed, despite having a lackluster 20-26 record. As long as that's the case, Blake should continue logging huge minutes and racking up fantasy stats -- he's surging lately with past-month averages of 27.6 points, 2.7 triples, 6.4 boards, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals and terrific percentages.

Ben Simmons (upper respiratory infection) had a monstrous Wednesday, scoring 21 points (9-of-14 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs) with 10 rebounds, 15 assists, one steal and three turnovers in 35 minutes against the Spurs.

Simmons posted his eight triple-double of the season so far, which is good for second-most in the league to this point. With this one, he became the third youngest player to notch 20 triple-doubles, trailing only Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson. He missed practice on Tuesday because of an illness, but he made the Spurs feel sick tonight.
Jan 23 - 11:39 PM

Marc Gasol dropped his fifth career triple-double against the Hornets on Wednesday during a 118-107 loss, scoring 22 points with 17 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

Multiple reports have Gasol on the trade block, and he'll be much easier to deal than Mike Conley. Gasol has a player option for next year, and the 33-year-old center may opt out of it to get one more big payday. A move for Gasol may not hurt him too much, especially considering the Grizzlies could shut him down. His fantasy owners probably can't trade him at fair value right now, so it makes sense just to ride it out and let the chips fall where they may. If you can somehow get value for what you paid on draft day, it's not a bad idea.
Jan 23 - 11:35 PM

Joel Embiid (back tightness) kept it rolling against the Spurs on Wednesday, scoring 33 points (13-of-28 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs) with 19 rebounds, three assists, one block and two 3-pointers in 37 minutes.

Embiid continues to battle through back tightness, he left the bench briefly to stretch in the locker room in the second quarter, but it doesn't appear to be affecting him much in the boxscore. Embiid put up 20/10 for the 33rd time this season, something which no other player has done even 30 times, and he also leads the league in 30/10 games with 21. He became the first Sixer to reach 40 double-doubles in a single-season since Clarence Weatherspoon back in 1993-94. Embiid might need a night off to get healthy, but it doesn't seem like he's going to sit any time soon.
Jan 23 - 11:33 PM

John Collins feasted vs. the Bulls on Wednesday with a career-high 35 points on 14-of-16 shooting, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in just 29 minutes.

The Hawks picked apart Chicago's defense tonight, particularly in pick-and-rolls where the Bulls kept switching. Credit to Collins for making them pay, but he didn't just punish smaller players in the paint -- he also stepped outside to go 4-of-4 from deep, while hitting 3-of-3 free throws. He's 57.7% from deep in January and is surging as a young centerpiece on a rebuilding team. The next step for fantasy purposes will be blocking some shots, as he's now played eight straight games without a single swat (256 total minutes).
