Kyrie Irving carried the Celtics down the stretch during a 116-109 overtime win over the Suns on Thursday, scoring 39 points with seven rebounds, six assists, three steals, one block and six 3-pointers in 43 minutes.

With the Celtics down 15 at the end of three it was Kyrie takeover time with 18 points in the fourth quarter and OT, and he's been absolutely incredible in the second half lately. Even before his explosion tonight, Irving's previous four second halves include a 28.5 usage rate and a tidy 79.8 TS% in those 16.8 minutes per half. Irving's usage rate has been identical in wins and losses at 25.9, but he's seen a noticeable uptick lately. After the rough start, he's trending up again.

Further tests revealed nothing more than a sprained left thumb for Wendell Carter Jr. and he is being listed as day-to-day.

There was some fear that Carter Jr. had fractured his thumb and that he would need surgery, but upon further evaluation, it was discovered that the ligament in his thumb is fully intact, so he shouldn't need to miss too much time here. For now, we'll be considering him doubtful for Thursday's game in Denver, and if he needs to sit that one out, there will be more minutes for Bobby Portis, Robin Lopez, Cristiano Felicio and Jabari Parker.

Jamal Crawford (knee) is listed as questionable for Thursday against the Raptors.

The Suns have some depth with Devin Booker back in action, so it's possible Crawford may not be in the rotation anyway. Coach Igor Kokoskov has said he wants to play De'Anthony Melton and Elie Okobo more, as well.

Aron Baynes (thumb) is available for Wednesday against the Raptors.

The Celtics finally get their backup center back for a big matchup. His return will bump Daniel Theis and Robert Williams down in the depth chart, but Baynes himself won't have much fantasy value while Al Horford is healthy.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Wendell Carter Jr. (thumb) could miss 4-6 weeks with his thumb injury from Tuesday.

To be clear here, this is not an official report, but this is the second report saying Carter Jr. is likely going to miss time. His fantasy owners should sit tight for now, but he might have to be dropped as soon as the Bulls reveal the MRI results. In the meantime, Bobby Portis will see big minutes as the center as a top pickup in fantasy -- played all center minutes on Tuesday -- and Robin Lopez could re-enter the rotation. If the Bulls keep Lopez out, Cris Felicio could be an option in very deep leagues. Jabari Parker would also stay in the rotation with 15-20 minutes as a backup to Lauri Markkanen.
Jan 16 - 5:19 PM

LeBron James (groin) has been cleared to return to practice next week.

According to the team, he will "progress towards a return to game play thereafter." If you missed it, he is not going to travel for the upcoming two games, so it will be at least 13 games on the sidelines. James may have a shot to make his return to the lineup this month, but he does not have a target date yet. Basically the entire rotation has benefitted with more usage, play-making chances and minutes while LeBron has been out.

Gary Harris (left hamstring tightness) is questionable to play against the Bulls on Thursday.

Coach Mike Malone has sounded optimistic at times on Harris, but we can't put much stock in his quotes based on the lack of evidence behind it. Malone said recently it’s taking longer than he thought it would for Harris to return, but the team doesn't want to risk him aggravating it again. If he's out, Malik Beasley and Monte Morris will benefit with more playing time.
Jan 16 - 4:07 PM

Damian Lillard (right hand strain) is questionable to play on Wednesday against the Cavs.

While Lillard tends to push through his various ailments, the Blazers may want to play it safe here with a matchup against the worst team in the league. If he is forced to the sidelines, there will be more minutes for Seth Curry, Wade Baldwin and Nik Stauskas, while C.J. McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic would be tasked with the heavy lifting on offense. Check back closer to tip-off for official confirmation on his status.
Jan 16 - 2:53 PM

Rudy Gay (wrist) and Marco Belinelli (knee) will play on Wednesday against the Mavericks.

Both Gay and Belinelli looked good at shootaround, and with these guys back in the lineup, we'd expect fewer minutes for Jakob Poeltl, Dante Cunningham, Quincy Pondexter and Davis Bertans. Gay has missed the past five games, but there's been no word on a minutes limit, so owners should feel confident deploying him.
Jan 16 - 2:07 PM

Tim Hardaway Jr. (sore left hamstring) is being listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Wizards.

THJ has had a full four days to rest his hamstring injury, although traveling to London probably wasn't the easiest flight for him. We'll have a better idea on his status following Thursday's shootaround, but if he's out again, Damyean Dotson would be in line for another start with Emmanual Mudiay and Kevin Knox being tasked with the heavy lifting on offense.
Jan 16 - 1:56 PM

Mo Bamba (sore left foot) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pistons.

Head coach Steve Clifford said on Tuesday that he wasn't expecting Bamba to play today, but it's worth noting that Bamba got in some post-practice work at shootaround. He's trending towards a game-time call, but if he's out again, Khem Birch should continue to see minutes in the teens operating as Nikola Vucevic's backup. Stay tuned.
Jan 16 - 1:48 PM

Kyrie Irving (quad) is good to go for Wednesday's game against the Raptors.

Irving didn't play on Monday with a minor quad issue, but he'll be back in action tonight for a matchup against the No. 1 team out East. With Irving back in the lineup, Terry Rozier will return to the second unit, and his value will take a fairly large hit.
