Brandon Ingram (left ankle) will not travel with the Lakers for their two-game road trip.

Ingram is scheduled for an MRI on Thursday evening and this means he'll be out for back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. The earliest he might return is Monday vs. the visiting Heat, but his status hinges on the results of the MRI. In his absence, expect Josh Hart to be the biggest winner with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Lance Stephenson also potentially earning more minutes.
Dec 6 - 4:59 PM

Furkan Korkmaz scored a career-high 18 points (7-of-12 FGs) with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and four 3-pointers in 26 minutes against the Pistons on Monday.

The seven rebounds, four triples, and 26 minutes were also career-highs for Korkmaz. He got extended run after Jimmy Butler (groin) left the game. The Sixers don't have many wings, which gives Korkmaz a chance to make an impact off the bench if Butler were to miss time. He's a name to monitor as we wait to hear Butler's diagnosis.
Dec 10 - 9:51 PM

Ben Simmons scored 18 points (8-of-11 FGs, 2-of-9 FTs) with 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and one block in 30 minutes against the Pistons on Monday.

Simmons was aggressive early, scoring 11 of his points in the first quarter. His biggest issue continues to be free throws. He's a top-30 value when removing free throws from the equation, but is barely top-70 when they're taken into account. Jimmy Butler left Monday's game with a groin injury, which might give Simmons some more looks in the short-term.
Dec 10 - 9:41 PM

Tristan Thompson will not return to Monday's game vs. the Bucks with a left foot injury.

He finished with 12 points, six rebounds and one steal in 18 minutes. Thompson walked to the locker room alongside the trainer under his own power, but the severity is not known. If Thompson is forced to miss time, Larry Nance would be the biggest beneficiary with Ante Zizic entering the rotation as the backup center.
Dec 10 - 9:37 PM

Joel Embiid (migraine) scored 24 points (6-of-16 FGs, 11-of-14 FTs) with eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, two blocks, and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes against the Pistons on Monday.

Embiid rested last Friday against the Pistons, missed Sunday's practice due to a migraine, and was experiencing flu-like symptoms, but was in the lineup and scored 20+ for the 20th time this season. He hadn't reached the 20-point mark in his previous three games, which prompted him to vent his frustrations to the media on Friday. Jimmy Butler left the game with a groin injury and didn't return, which would give Embiid a bigger piece of the scoring pie if he were to miss any time.
Dec 10 - 9:30 PM

Robert Covington (right knee soreness), as expected, will play Monday night against the Warriors.

The expectation earlier Monday was that Covington would be available to go, so this development isn't a surprise. In 11 games with the Timberwolves, the former 76er is averaging 14.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 2.7 steals and 2.6 3-pointers in 35.6 minutes per contest.
Dec 10 - 9:21 PM

Nikola Mirotic (sore right ankle) will not return on Monday vs. the Celtics.

For what it's worth, this is the same ankle that bothered him in November. He lasted just seven minutes in this game, finishing with three points on 1-of-5 shots. Julius Randle will continue logging heavy minutes as the starter, while Cheick Diallo and Darius Miller will pick up a few extra minutes as well.
Dec 10 - 9:10 PM

Josh Richardson (shoulder) will play Monday night against the Lakers.

Richardson, who's averaging 19.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.7 3-pointers per game, did not play in Saturday's win over the Clippers due to the shoulder issue. In addition to its starting off-guard, Tyler Johnson (hip), Goran Dragic and Wayne Ellington will also be available for the Heat.
Dec 10 - 9:09 PM

Boban Marjanovic is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Suns.

Marjanovic has started five games this season, with one being the Clippers' November 28 win over the Suns. The 7'3 center was effective in his 19 minutes on the court, tallying 12 points (3-of-6 FG, 6-of-6 FT), 12 rebounds and one assist.
Dec 10 - 9:04 PM

Mason Plumlee will start vs. the Grizzlies on Monday.

Trey Lyles will head back to the bench. With Paul Millsap (toe) expected to miss 4-6 weeks, coach Malone mentioned that he might alternate between Plumlee and Lyles as the starting PFs on a game-to-game basis. Plumlee has been a stat stuffer this season and can be deployed if you're ok with his awful FT%.
Dec 10 - 8:43 PM

Jamal Murray (shin, forearm) will play on Monday vs. the Grizzlies.

Coach Malone made it sound like Murray has been really struggling with his health, but the PG went through his normal warmup routine and there's no word of any restrictions. We'll let you know how he fares after the game in what should be a tough matchup.
Dec 10 - 8:27 PM

According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Rockets "have expressed exploratory interest in acquiring JR Smith."

Smith is currently out indefinitely with the Cavaliers as they search for a new home for the SG. The 33-year-old shot just 30.8% from 3-point range this season and his best days are well behind him, so it's strange that Houston would want to pick up the last year of his deal valued at over $14M.
