LeBron James (left groin) is increasing his on-court activity and will have another injury update on Jan. 16.

LeBron was already ruled out for Friday, but this means he'll also miss home games on Sunday (vs. Cleveland) and Tuesday (vs. Chicago). Depending upon the next injury update, he could be activated for road games on Jan. 17 and 19. Until then, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram will carry the scoring load with Josh Hart soaking up huge minutes and Lonzo Ball enjoying plenty of time on-ball.
Jan 10 - 4:34 PM

Deandre Ayton (left ankle sprain) will not return on Saturday against the Hornets.

It didn't look like he had a bad injury or anything, and the Suns are getting blown out anyway. Ayton had one of his worst games of the year, and chances are his coach will say some things about his lack of energy in the paint. Hopefully, this is just a one-time thing for the rookie, and also Richaun Holmes (foot) isn't returning. Perhaps the back-to-back is a factor here, too. If they're both out, Quincy Acy would be looking at plenty of minutes as a low-end speculative add in deep leagues.
Jan 19 - 7:14 PM

Richaun Holmes (left foot sprain) will not return to Saturday's game against the Hornets.

Both Holmes and Deandre Ayton were ruled out early in the fourth quarter of lopsided game. He went for four points and four rebounds in 14 minutes before exiting. It didn't appear that Holmes hurt himself at all, so this could just be precautionary with the Suns on the front end of a back-to-back set. We'll consider Holmes questionable for Sunday's game against the Wolves.

Paul George provided a signature moment with an and-one 3-pointer with 5.1 seconds left to beat the 76ers 117-115 on Saturday, finishing with 31 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals and four 3-pointers in 40 minutes.

He made all 11 free throws and absolutely carried the Thunder late for one of their biggest wins of the season. OKC also owns Philly with their 19th straight win for the longest active streak against any opponent this season. George continues stuffing the stat sheet this month, averaging 27.9 points, 7.2 boards, 3.4 dimes, 2.4 steals and 3.8 treys on a 42/39/83 shooting line. He is in the top five for the MVP race.
Jan 19 - 7:00 PM

Ish Smith (right adductor tightness) will not play against the Kings on Saturday.

Smith missed a bunch of time due to a groin issue earlier this season, so this isn't great news. Luke Kennard, Bruce Brown, Langston Galloway, and Jose Calderon will see more time in Smith's absence.
Jan 19 - 6:59 PM

Marc Gasol (upper back soreness) will not play on Saturday against the Raptors.

It's a back-to-back set and the Grizzlies can't get wins these days, so this is not much of a surprise. Considering he talked with ownership this week, the likelihood he gets traded may have increased as the Grizzlies make some personnel changes. With him and Joakim Noah out, Jaren Jackson Jr. and JaMychal Green will get all they can eat while Ivan Rabb and Omri Casspi pick up more run, too.
Jan 19 - 6:56 PM

Wesley Matthews (right wrist sprain) will start against the Pacers on Saturday.

Matthews was questionable entering the game, but will indeed suit up. He'll continue to play his usual role as the team's starting shooting guard. Deploy him as you normally would.
Jan 19 - 6:53 PM

Eric Gordon (right knee) will play Saturday against the Lakers.

Gordon returned from an extended absence last time out and fared quite well in 21 minutes of action. His minutes should be in the 20-25 range again as he works his way back up to full speed.

Russell Westbrook made 8-of-21 from the field for 21 points with 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal, four turnovers and one 3-pointer in 37 minutes before fouling out against the 76ers on Saturday.

Joel Embiid fell on him down the stretch, and Westbrook got up and wanted a piece of The Process -- his teammates stopped him. Westbrook made both free throws, and interestingly he's 11-of-13 from the line in the clutch despite shooting 64.2% overall. He's also sitting at just 38.4% from the field because he's struggling in the paint, in mid-range and from three. He'll be a triple-double threat every night, but he is destroying fantasy owners in percentages.
Jan 19 - 6:50 PM

James Ennis will start over Gary Clark against the Lakers on Saturday.

Ennis did not play in the last game due to a cut on his calf, so coach Mike D'Antoni will give him a shot. Presumably, Clark will be a backup center option tonight because things aren't going well with Marquese Chriss and Isaiah Hartenstein. Ennis and Clark aren't worth owning right now.
Jan 19 - 6:49 PM

Josh Richardson (illness) will play on Saturday night against the Bulls.

He was probable earlier today, questionable this afternoon, and now he's in there. Richardson did not play on Friday to get Tyler Johnson in the starting lineup, and allow more minutes to be spread to the second unit. His return makes basically every bench player not named Dwyane Wade and Bam Adebayo risky options.
Jan 19 - 6:35 PM

Joel Embiid's back didn't seem to bother him as much during a 117-115 loss to the Thunder on Saturday, scoring 31 points with eight rebounds, six assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 34 minutes.

He was a true game-time call and wasn't announced as a starter until minutes before this one started. Compared to Thursday, Embiid didn't seem to be stretching as much during the game, he wasn't seeing quite as much treatment from the med staff, and overall he didn't look limited as much either. Embiid fell on Russell Westbrook in the fourth quarter, and it didn't seem to cause any discomfort. This was an encouraging outing for Embiid regarding his health, so maybe he won't be on the injury report for MLK Day against the Rockets.
