Browns DT Phil Taylor is undergoing an MRI for a possible torn left pectoral muscle.

Taylor's agent confirmed the original report from Fox 8 Cleveland's John Telich. Last year's first-round pick, Taylor suffered the injury while lifting weights in Berea on Thursday. If the MRI comes back positive, Taylor could be lost for the 2012 season. The Browns' run defense was bad enough as it was.

Jordan Reed (hamstring) missed Monday and Tuesday's practices ahead of Thursday's game against the Giants.

In other words, he's extremely unlikely to return on Thanksgiving. That sets up Vernon Davis for a huge game against the Giants' league-worst tight end defense. Always injured, Reed hasn't played since Week 8.

49ers GM John Lynch wouldn't commit to the 49ers starting Jimmy Garoppolo against the Seahawks in Week 12.

Lynch said that decision will be made by head coach Kyle Shanahan, though Garoppolo certainly doesn't seem like a lock to start, even after getting the bye week to familiarize himself with the team's playbook. "You guys obviously know what we think of Jimmy in terms of why we brought him here," said Lynch. "But we also think highly of C.J. [Beathard], enough to trade up to the third round to get him." Beathard is coming off his best game of the season against the Giants, though Garoppolo remains San Francisco's quarterback of the future. We'd still bet on Garoppolo starting at some point this year, but it may not happen for another week or two.

Seahawks waived DE Dwight Freeney.

Signed in late October, the 16-year veteran lasted four games in Seattle. Freeney tallied three sacks as a situational pass rusher, so it's a bit surprising he's being cut loose. 2017 is the longtime Colt's age-37 season. It's possible he gets a look elsewhere. Despite being a vested veteran, Freeney must go through waivers since it's after the trade deadline.

Patriots waived DE Cassius Marsh.

DE Eric Lee was signed in a corresponding roster move. Acquired from the Seahawks before Week 1, Marsh played 266 snaps over nine games, making one start. He tallied one sack. The No. 108 overall pick of the 2014 draft by the Seahawks, Marsh turned 25 in July.

Raiders fired DC Ken Norton Jr.

In many ways, Norton is the scapegoat for an underachieving team, but his firing is also completely justifiable. The Raiders have a league-low six takeaways, including an historic zero interceptions. No team has ever gone this late in the year without picking off a pass. Despite having reigning Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack up front, the Raiders are tied with the Giants for the fewest sacks (14). Opposing passers are posting a 113.3 QB rating when they face the Raiders. Something had to change. Ex-Chargers DC John Pagano is taking over.

Texans claimed RB Andre Ellington off waivers from the Cardinals.

The Texans needed help at running back after D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') was lost for the season. Averaging a healthy nine yards on 33 receptions, it remains surprising that Ellington was cut loose by the Cardinals. He should see immediate playing time for the Texans, and will help keep plodder Alfred Blue off the field behind Lamar Miller. What Ellington is unlikely to do is provide legitimate PPR value in the Texans' Tom Savage-led offense.

Falcons waived CB Jalen Collins.

Collins was set to be activated from a 10-game PED ban, his second steroid suspension. Instead, the Falcons are moving on from the No. 42 overall pick of the 2015 draft. Still only 24, Collins played well down the stretch in 2016. Collins may clear waivers so teams don't have to pick up his contract, but he will undoubtedly get another chance.

Redskins placed LG Shawn Lauvao on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his season.

Lauvao is 1-of-4 Redskins to hit injured reserve on Tuesday, including fellow starting lineman C Spencer Long. Oft injured, this is the second season in three Lauvao will finish on I.R. At least according to Pro Football Focus, he was performing as one of the worst interior linemen in the league before going down. Lauvao is headed for free agency. Ty Nsekhe finished Week 11 in Lauvao's place, and will presumably replace him going forward.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the Broncos plan to start Paxton Lynch against the Raiders in Week 12.

Things have been trending this way since Sunday's (latest) loss. Official word is expected to come Wednesday. Lynch showed very little in two rookie starts, but the Broncos have nothing to lose as they play out the string of a lost season. They need to find out if their 2016 first-rounder has anything resembling a future under center. Lynch couldn't ask for a softer opponent than a Raiders team generating essentially zero pressure or turnovers.

Sterling Shepard (migraines) was officially "DNP" in Tuesday's practice.

It's a downgrade from Monday's limited session. Coach Ben McAdoo said Shepard is "not feeling well," and that the team is trying to determine the source of his migraines. Shepard is now on the wrong side of questionable for Thursday night's game against the Redskins, though a Wednesday return would have him on track to suit up.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Mike Davis (groin) is "unlikely" to play Week 12 against the 49ers.

It is a tough break for a player who seemed to be taking advantage of his opportunity on Monday night, especially considering the Davis' former team, the 49ers, are next up on the schedule. With Davis out, Thomas Rawls will jump back into the rotation, but this is a situation to avoid outside of J.D. McKissic in PPR formats.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: While Davis was sidelined Monday, McKissic worked as the primary back and finished with 12 touches while Eddie Lacy saw three. Even if Rawls is active in Week 12, it could be McKissic's backfield against the 49ers. He couldn't have a much better spot; the 49ers are giving up the most PPR points per game to RBs while allowing the most receiving yards and 2nd-most receiving touchdowns to the position. At just $3.7k on DraftKings, McKissic looks like a solid value but it’ll be worth monitoring the situation this week before pulling the trigger.
