Cowboys rookie WR Danny Coale will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a broken bone in his left foot.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it's a broken fifth metatarsal that should keep Coale out a month. The Cowboys hope to have Coale on the field early in training camp, but the missed practice time will set the fifth-rounder back in his competition for the third receiver role. Andre Holmes, Kevin Ogletree, Dwayne Harris, and undrafted rookie Tim Benford are also vying for the job.

Eddie Lacy rushed six times for 20 yards and caught his lone target for three yards in the Seahawks' second preseason game.

He has 30 yards on 10 preseason carries with the lone reception. Lacy started tonight only because Thomas Rawls is battling a mild ankle sprain, and even so merely shared first-team duties with rookie Chris Carson, who played 9-of-22 first-team snaps to Lacy's 13. Lacy has looked neither powerful nor explosive this preseason. We would advise avoiding him before the late rounds of drafts.

Dalvin Cook rushed seven times for 40 yards in Friday's second preseason game against the Seahawks.

Russell Wilson completed 13-of-18 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks' second preseason game.

And he did almost all of it against the Vikings' first-team defense. The unfortunate news was Wilson losing LT George Fant to a potentially serious leg injury. Wilson was as sharp as ever, hooking up with Kasen Williams and Doug Baldwin for big gains and showing complete command of the offense as both a rusher and passer. Wilson has fantasy overall QB1 upside in his sixth NFL season.

Seahawks LT George Fant exited Friday night's second preseason game with a knee injury.

Fant got rolled up from the side and behind via friendly fire from teammate C Justin Britt. Fant immediately grabbed his leg and had to be carted off the field in an air cast. He's certainly done for the season. Fant was drawing big praise for his development this offseason. It's a big loss to an already questionable line. 2016 third-rounder Rees Odhiambo replaced Fant.

Bills coach Sean McDermott confirmed he expects Tyrod Taylor to be the Week 1 starter.

"I have all the confidence in the world in Tyrod," said McDermott. It's a turnaround from the Bills after they were noncommittal on Taylor following Thursday's preseason game. It's possible Nathan Peterman could get some first-team reps this week, but Taylor remains the favorite to open the year as the starter.

Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said it's "impossible to say" if Doug Martin will be the starter when he returns from suspension.

Koetter praised Martin's quickness in Thursday's preseason win over Jacksonville but wouldn't commit to him starting when he returns in Week 4. Martin has said and done all the right things and has by all accounts been the team's best halfback this summer. Jacquizz Rodgers would have to really impress in Weeks 1-3 to overtake Martin.

Ravens signed C Jeremy Zuttah to a two-year contract.

Zuttah was traded by Baltimore to San Francisco early in the offseason, but Zuttah didn't fit in out west and was released last week. He lands back with the Ravens after making the Pro Bowl last year and grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 14 center out of 37 qualifiers. Zuttah will slide right back in there and help prop up a line that just lost LG Alex Lewis for the season.

Free agent LB Zachary Orr announced he will remain retired.

Orr said he spoke to 17 teams over the last few months, but none of them would give him clearance to play due to a degenerative neck condition that forced him to hang up his cleats in the first place earlier this offseason. Orr figures to get into coaching. He worked with the Ravens earlier in the year.

The Florida Times Union's Ryan O'Halloran believes "it would make perfect sense" for the Jaguars to cut Blake Bortles this summer.

1010 XL Jacksonville's Hays Carlyon had a similar suggestion Friday morning. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 draft, Bortles has melted down this summer, first experiencing a "tired arm" last weekend -- perhaps an excuse by coach Doug Marrone to see more of Chad Henne or not -- and then a rock-bottom preseason effort Thursday night. Bortles missed wide-open big plays, and even his completions were a chore. Bortles' 2017 salary is guaranteed, but the Jaguars can't let Bortles on the field and expose him to injury, which would guarantee his $19 million salary for 2018. Henne is the favorite to start.

The Florida Times Union's Ryan O'Halloran believes Chad Henne will be the Jaguars' Week 1 starter against the Texans.

Jaguars beat writers are having a field day following Blake Bortles' disastrous Thursday night performance. Coach Doug Marrone has been hinting at this for a week, first giving Bortles a day off at practice because of a "tired arm" and then saying before Thursday's exhibition that Henne would work with the first-team offense. Henne moved the offense and should have had a touchdown, but both Keelan Cole and Allen Robinson dropped surefire scores. Bortles' confidence is in the gutter. Henne gives the Jaguars a slightly better chance to win.

LeGarrette Blount rushed five times for eight yards in the Eagles' second preseason game Thursday night.

He also lost a fumble on one of his two catches. Blount's tenure with the Eagles has gotten off to a rough start. He's missed a number of practices for different reasons and hasn't performed when on the field. Through two preseason games, Blount has rushed nine times for 17 yards (1.89 YPC) with the lost fumble. He also hasn't stood out in practices. While Blount may seem like a value pick in mid-to-late rounds of drafts, it's critical to remember he's no longer in New England's offense, which is the only place he's had success. He's also in a timeshare.
