Browns WLB Chris Gocong has been diagnosed with a ruptured right Achilles' tendon, and is done for the season.

He'll undergo surgery next week. A 16-game starter each of the past two years in Cleveland, Gocong notched 70 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles last season. With SLB Scott Fujita suspended for the first three games of the year, Kaluka Maiava and fourth-round pick James-Michael Johnson will serve as the Browns' starting outside linebackers for at least three weeks. GM Tom Heckert will certainly be on the lookout for veteran help.

Falcons signed WR Julio Jones to a five-year, $71.25 million contract extension through 2020.

Jones gets $47 million guaranteed. His new $14.25 million in average annual salary puts Jones slightly ahead of both Dez Bryant and Demayius Thomas, who signed matching five-year, $70 million pacts this offseason. The $47 million guaranteed is $15 million more than Bryant and $12 million more than Thomas, if the initial numbers being reported are correct. All three receivers are equally deserving. Jones has had foot issues in the past, but the Falcons obviously aren't too concerned. With the contract done, Jones can focus on football.

Terrelle Pryor (hamstring) is sitting out Saturday's regular season dress rehearsal.

Pryor has resumed practicing, but his conditioning ins't up to speed. With the Browns' starters unlikely to see much, if any, action in next week's exhibition finale, it means Pryor will end the summer with no meaningful snaps as he makes the transition from quarterback. Pryor has the high-end athleticism the Browns lack basically everywhere else on offense, but he could be too raw for a spot on the 53-man roster. If the Browns keep him, it will be because he flashed convincingly in the offseason program.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Dolphins LT Branden Albert (knee) is unlikely to return before Week 3.

It's a big blow for the Dolphins' shaky offensive line, and means fill-in Jason Fox will make at least two starts on Ryan Tannehill's blindside. Fox is missing Saturday's regular season dress rehearsal, leaving Tannehill to fend for himself behind his third string left tackle, Dallas Thomas. Albert is still barely 10 months removed from tearing up his knee. Week 3 shouldn't be considered a certainty.

Redskins signed LT Trent Williams to a five-year, $66 million extension.

The deal includes $43.25 million guaranteed. Williams will average $13.2 million annually, placing him ahead of Tyron Smith as the highest-paid left tackle in the league. It's the second big-money extension given out by GM Scot McCloughan after locking up OLB Ryan Kerrigan. The Redskins should have two offensive-line cornerstones to build around with Williams and No. 5 overall pick Brandon Scherff. A three-time Pro Bowler, Williams is signed through 2020, his age-32 season.

The Newark Star-Ledger's Eliot Shorr-Parks said OLB Marcus Smith (hamstring) is on the roster bubble.

When asked if Smith would be on the final roster, Shorr-Parks put his chances at 51 percent. Smith was working as the primary backup at outside linebacker before injuring his hamstring, but coach Chip Kelly was noncommittal on Smith's roster status following the injury. Kelly has already said he had little to do with drafting Smith in the first round last year, and the coach has a history of cutting ties with big-name players. The Eagles' lack of depth at outside linebacker should allow Smith to make the roster, but he needs to make an impact this season.

ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini reports the Redskins plan to start Kirk Cousins in Week 1 against the Dolphins.

Russini made her bones as a D.C. reporter, so she is as plugged into the team as any national reporter. ESPN's Ed Werder reported GM Scot McCloughan is "determined to change team culture" and could decide to move on from Robert Griffin III. The mystifying situation surrounding Griffin's concussion may have given McCloughan a prime opportunity to cut ties. Cousins is the owner of a career 59-percent completion rate and has an 18:19 TD-to-INT ratio across 14 NFL appearances.

ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss believes Aaron Dobson "might have been playing for a job" on Friday night.

If that is the case, Dobson's night could not have gone much worse. He was out-muscled by Peanut Tillman on a 50-50 ball the defender eventually came down with, and he did not come back to the ball on Tom Brady's second interception of the night. With injuries mounting, it would be surprising if the Patriots gave up on the 2013 second-round pick this season, but it is certainly not outside the realm of possibilities.

Zach Zenner rushed eight times for 85 yards and a touchdown in the Lions' third preseason game.

The highly impressive undrafted rookie dominated in this one, playing extensively with the first-team offense in the Joique Bell role, while Ameer Abdullah mixed in. Zenner ripped off eight yards on his first carry, and six on the next before breaking off scampers of 41 and 21 yards, flashing his long-run ability. Zenner also made a tackle in punt coverage, and has locked up a 53-man roster spot as arguably the star player of the Lions' preseason. Through three exhibition contests, Zenner has 162 yards on 25 carries (6.48 YPC) and tonight's three-yard touchdown, plus a 6-60-1 receiving line.

Golden Tate caught three balls for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Lions' third preseason game.

He's up to 169 yards and two TDs on the preseason. Tate operated as Detroit's No. 1 wideout with Calvin Johnson resting, and secured a 62-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to kick off the scoring against Jacksonville. Tate torched Jags second-year slot CB Aaron Colvin on the play. Tate lacks WR1 upside so long as Megatron is healthy, but is a high-floor fantasy WR2.

T.J. Yeldon rushed eight times for ten yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for 12 yards in the Jaguars' third preseason game.

Making his preseason debut after a finger injury cost him the first two exhibition games, Yeldon got the start over Denard Robinson. Yeldon also stayed in on all third-down plays, operating as Jacksonville's every-down back and also getting back-to-back goal-line carries in the first quarter. Even when Robinson handled a first-half drive, Yeldon was inserted at the goal line and scored from two yards out. Yeldon's highlight play came on a third-down reception that moved the sticks, gaining 12 yards. This was precisely the kind of usage we were hoping to see from Jacksonville's versatile second-round pick. Yeldon is worth targeting as a top-25 back in fantasy drafts.

Greg Olsen caught six balls for 51 yards in the Panthers' third preseason game Friday night.

Cam Newton targeted Olsen relentlessly and even to a fault in this one, which may be a preview of what we'll see this regular season. Olsen saw a whopping eight first-half targets. Olsen was a chain mover in this game, though he did have an uncharacteristic drop on the Panthers' fourth drive. Olsen had a huge second-quarter gain negated by a penalty on an offensive lineman. Even with Devin Funchess (hamstring) back, Olsen has a chance to dominate targets in Carolina's passing attack with so little out wide.
