Panthers placed CB Brandon Hogan on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

A fourth-round pick last season, Hogan ended up appearing in only three games after beginning the year on the reserve/PUP list. He tore his ACL in December 2010 at West Virginia. The nature of Hogan's current injury is unclear, but he wasn't expected to begin the year on reserve/PUP, so it's surprising he's landed on injured reserve. He'll be far from guaranteed a roster spot in 2013.

No. 5 overall pick CB Jalen Ramsey is expected to miss six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee.

CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler wrote "it really feels like" the Redskins plan to add another running back.

With Matt Jones, a rookie with serious injury questions marks and not much else at running back, it would make sense for the Redskins to dip into the market. Pierre Thomas spent time with Washington last season, but he is more of a passing-down option. Arian Foster would make the most sense, but he might not be the same player following an Achilles' tear from which he is still not fully recovered. Jones looks like the clear workhorse right now, but that could change if Washington brings in a veteran.

ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss reports Dion Lewis (ACL) is fully expected to be ready for Week 1.

Lewis tore his ACL on November 8. Reiss reports people close to Lewis believe he could be ready to play in a month. The Patriots will likely limit him throughout the offseason program and into to training camp, but his availability for the regular season does not appear to be in doubt. Lewis tallied 622 total yards and four touchdowns in just seven games last season.

Bills GM Doug Whaley said he expects Sammy Watkins (foot) to be ready for Week 1.

Watkins underwent surgery to repair a broken foot last month. Despite his optimism about the regular season, Whaley declined to put a timetable on Watkins' return, lending credence to the notion he will not be ready for the start of training camp. The Bills brought free agent Andre Roberts in for a workout last week, and they will likely look to bring in some veteran bodies prior to training camp.

ESPN Browns reporter Pat McManamon believes coach Hue Jackson sees Duke Johnson "as an every-down back."

McManamon believes the previous regime in Cleveland saw Johnson as an every-down back as well, but a hamstring injury in training camp held him back. Despite his size (5'9, 210), Johnson had the look of a three-down back in college and could certainly handle more than the 104 carries he saw last season. If Isaiah Crowell falters, Johnson could find himself in a workhorse role.

With Mark Sanchez (thumb surgery) not expected to participate in OTAs, Paxton Lynch will see expanded first-team reps.

"Just watching him, I think he'll catch up pretty quick," said coach Gary Kubiak after rookie minicamp. The 26th overall pick in the draft, Lynch stands 6-foot-7, 244 and has dual-threat mobility, which will mesh well in Kubiak's bootleg-centric offense. Sanchez is a short-term placeholder at best. If Lynch practices and plays well in the preseason, he should be given a serious look to start in Week 1 against the Panthers.

Tom Brady's appeal in the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals argues that two judges who sided with the NFL to have Brady's suspension reinstated "got the law wrong."

Brady's team is asking the three judges who heard his initial case (two voted nay, one yay) to "rehear their arguments." "The panel decision stands in stark contrast with fundamental rules of labor law and undermines the rights of union members and employers alike," Brady attorney Theodore Olson wrote. "This court should grant rehearing or rehearing en banc." According to the Boston Herald, Brady has "told friends since January 2015 that he'll go to his grave believing he did nothing wrong" in the so-called Deflategate. On a personal note, we CAN'T WAIT for this whole thing to go away.

Texans OLB Jadeveon Clowney's foot issue was a Lisfranc injury, but did not require surgery.

Clowney says he is 100 percent healthy. "I feel great," Clowney said after Monday's OTAs session. "I got healthy enough to be where I want to be." The injury held Clowney out of Week 17 and Houston's humiliating Wild Card loss. The No. 1 overall pick of 2014 draft has appeared in just 17 of a possible 32 games. He's flashed enough when on the field that he can't yet be considered a bust, but 2016 is a crossroads year for the 23-year-old pass rusher.

Browns released WR Brian Hartline.

It's a surprise in that the Browns have zero receiver depth and Hartline was easily their best holdover, but entirely unsurprising in the context of their commitment to tanking the 2016 season. The Browns are playing for the future, and 29-year-old Hartline wasn't going to be a part of it. New coach Hue Jackson now has even more snaps to divvy up amongst his four rookie wideouts. Hartline should draw plenty of interest as a No. 3/4 receiver that can help move the chains.

Bills RCB Stephon Gilmore will be a no-show for OTAs as the sides continue to discuss an extension.

Bills GM Doug Whaley recently said he's "actively" trying to lock up Gilmore, whose $11-plus million salary cap number could be reduced with a long-term deal. Entering a contract year, Gilmore is likely targeting Josh Norman money in the five-year, $75 million range. Gilmore plans to spend the next few weeks training in Charlotte and Miami. Gilmore should not be considered a "holdout" unless he skips the Bills' mandatory minicamp set for June 14-16.

Former NFL QB Johnny Manziel was kicked out of a Vegas nightclub on Friday night after he allegedly "hauled off and punched a guy."

Standing in a VIP booth at Jewel Nightclub, Manziel allegedly "got pushed" when club goers began pushing and shoving after rapper Drake showed up for a surprise performance. Manziel proceeded to "slug" a fellow club goer and was kicked out by security. TMZ also recently released photos of Manziel without his shirt in which he appears emaciated with tattoos all over his body.
