Panthers acquired S Colin Jones from the 49ers.

A sixth-round pick last season, Jones proved to be a valuable special teamer for the 49ers as a rookie, notching six tackles in 13 games. He'll serve the same role in Carolina.

Ex-Browns and Colts RB Trent Richardson has signed with the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Packers LT David Bakhtiari (hamstring) has resumed practicing.

It's a step in the right direction after Bakhtiari got in three DNPs last week. The Pack may still just be trying to move Bakhtiari along for Week 4, but are thin along their offensive line right now. Fill-in LT Kyle Murphy (foot) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Bakhtiari hasn't played since Week 1.

Packers DT Mike Daniels (hip) has resumed practicing.

Daniels is trending in the right direction after missing Week 3, but the Pack might opt to hold him out against the lowly Bears.

Randall Cobb (chest) was practicing again on Tuesday.

Cobb will likely be "limited," but is trending in the right direction for Thursday Night Football after he didn't practice in Week 3. With his health a question mark, Cobb will be a WR3 if he does indeed suit up against the Bears.

Eagles OC Frank Reich says there's "no doubt" Wendell Smallwood will be in for an increased role in Darren Sproles' absence.

Reich is just confirming the obvious, but it's good to hear it from the horse's mouth. Smallwood soundly out-snapped LeGarrette Blount against the Giants, and out-touched him, too. Blount should take the lead on early downs for the time being, but Smallwood is shaping up as the preferred fantasy own/play. He will monopolize third downs and mix in between the tackles.

Chiefs placed K Cairo Santos on injured reserve.

Harrison Butker was signed off the Panthers' practice squad as a replacement. It is not clear what injury Santos is dealing with, but he missed time in training camp with a groin issue. It is possible he is brought back later in the season.

John Brown (quad) worked out before the Cardinals' game on Monday night.

Brown was not able to practice at all last week, so this is at least a step in the correct direction. That said, there does not seem to be much hope for a quick return, and Brown has struggled to stay healthy over the last year. He is nothing more than a hopeful bench stash for fantasy.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports there is "no end in sight" for Texans LT Duane Brown's holdout.

Brown will have to show up around Week 8 to make sure his contract does not toll, but it does not look like he is planning to end his holdout before then. The Texans also are not interested in playing ball and have not had any negotiations with the left tackle since the holdout began. At this point, a trade may be the best outcome for both sides.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said he is not going to give Chris Thompson more touches.

"He's going to keep pushing me for them, but he's not going to get them," Gruden said. The back is averaging a ridiculous 13 yards per touch so far this season, but the coach wants to make sure Thompson, who has a long injury history, stays on the field for 16 games. That said, it will be impossible to keep him out of the lineup if he continues to produce like he has the first three weeks.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Rob Kelley (ribs) will still be the team's "No. 1 lead dog" when healthy.

Kelley surprisingly sat out Sunday night's matchup with the Raiders, a game Chris Thompson dominated as he has all season. Still, Washington seemingly does not want to use Thompson as more than a complementary back, meaning Kelley should lead the backfield in touches when he is healthy. Kelley is expected to participate when Washington opens their practice week on Thursday.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he does not plan to scale back Kareem Hunt's workload.

The rookie is on pace for almost 300 touches, but his coach is not concerned about him hitting the wall. "No, I think we’re okay with how we’re using him," Reid said. "I just go off of the feel I have and the experience, we’ll be all right there." Perhaps the usage wears him down as the season goes on, but right now Hunt is as good as they come at running back. He will be an elite play in a great matchup against Washington on Monday night.
