Chargers CB Shareece Wright is out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain and partial tear of an ankle ligament.

He apparently won't be placed on injured reserve just yet. A 2011 third-round pick out of USC, Wright was coming on with a big training camp before going down in Week 1. The Chargers will be thin behind Quentin Jammer, Antoine Cason, and Marcus Gilchrist going forward. They also cut CB Greg Gatson on Monday.

Aaron Dobson (foot) is expected to make his preseason debut in Thursday's game against the Giants.

Dobson's recovery from his left foot surgery finally appears complete. Now he can begin a quest to regain the starting outside receiver job he held last year before these foot woes shut him down. Eventually, we'd expect Dobson to pass up Kenbrell Thompkins and Brandon LaFell, giving him plenty of stash appeal. In the six games Dobson played at least 50 snaps last year, he averaged 4.5 catches for 60.8 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Sources tell ESPN that suspended Josh Gordon is exploring the possibility of playing the rest of the year in the Canadian Football League.

The Browns would have to give Gordon permission to do this, which the Cleveland Plain Dealer says they will not do. Understandably so, as they'd be exposing their most talented player -- one they have under contract very cheaply through 2016 -- to injury without any on-field benefit. Furthermore, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says CFL rules don't allow players under NFL contracts to play in the CFL -- only cut players can go north of the border. It's a nice idea for Gordon to stay in shape and have some structure during his suspension, but this one is not going to happen.

Jarrett Boykin has held strong as the Packers' No. 3 WR through training camp.

Davante Adams, a second-round rookie, was expected to push Boykin for the third receiver job in the Packers' three-wide base. Instead, the incumbent has held serve. "Clearly, Jarrett Boykin has taken the next step," coach Mike McCarthy said. "I just love the way he plays. He's had an excellent camp." In the third preseason game, Adams exclusively played with the backups, confirming he's the No. 4 receiver right now. Boykin's upside is capped by all the mouths to feed in Green Bay, but his ADP is way down in the 11th round. There's value there.

The Chronicle-Telegram confirms Jordan Cameron is set for a "much larger role" with Josh Gordon suspended for the entire season.

In the two games that Gordon was banned from last year, Cameron totaled 14 catches for 203 yards and one touchdown. Now he'll be the centerpiece of the Browns' passing attack for all 16 games, as Andrew Hawkins/Miles Austin/Nate Burleson are complementary players. Cameron, who ranked third among tight ends in targets last year with 117, will see that number push even higher this season. He's a value pick in the middle rounds.

Quinton Patton ran ahead of Stevie Johnson during the 49ers' third preseason game.

The No. 3 spot behind starters Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin appears to be a fluid situation, with Brandon Lloyd also in the mix. There's even been speculation that Johnson and his $3.65 million salary could be a surprise cut Saturday. Patton, a 2013 fourth-round pick, has one catch for 10 yards through 78 preseason snaps. Johnson has two catches for 11 yards on 36 snaps.

Titans signed DE Jurrell Casey to a four-year, $36 million extension through 2018.

It includes $20.5 million guaranteed and makes Casey the highest-paid player on the Titans' roster. $9 million annually is a lot of dough to shell out. Casey is now the second-highest-paid 3-4 end in football in terms of annual average behind Calais Campbell's $11 million. Casey had a career year in 2013, racking up 10.5 sacks and 55 tackles. That was as a penetrating one-gap defensive tackle in a 4-3. For the sake of the Titans, we hope new DC Ray Horton will allow Casey to push the pocket instead of playing two-gap.

Suspended WR Josh Gordon can apply for reinstatement at the end of the 2014 season.

It's technically just a season-long ban for Gordon, not a calendar-year suspension. It's a glimmer of good news. Gordon will be away from the Browns for roughly 5-6 months, as long as he keeps his nose clean. Gordon took and passed over 70 drug tests, but failed the one that led to this suspension by 0.01 nanograms per milliliter. Gordon's agent needs to surround him with good people while he's away from the game. He has a ton of football ahead of him.

Both coach Ron Rivera and Cam Newton said there's "no doubt" he'll play Week 1 despite a rib injury.

Newton has hairline fractures in a few of his ribs, but quarterbacks regularly play through this injury. It's typically a question of pain management. We'll know more on Newton next week when the Panthers begin official preparations for the Bucs, but he's safe to pen into lineups. Rivera said the zone-read will still be in play despite Cam's injury.

According to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, "it looks like (Giovani) Bernard and (Jeremy) Hill could both get about 200 attempts" on the ground this season.

Hobson notes that Hill "changed the tenor" of Cincinnati's third preseason game against Arizona, and expects the rookie's "power running" to be a particular "boon" against division rivals Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Hobson also wonders if BenJarvus Green-Ellis may have played his final game as a Bengal. Clearly the best inside runner on the Bengals' roster, Hill continues to be severely undervalued at his mid-10th-round ADP. If Gio only winds up with 200 carries, it's going to be difficult to reach the 300 touches many have projected him for.

Eagles tight ends coach Ted Williams said Zach Ertz is "one of the best route-runners I've ever seen."

Long-tabbed as one of the key pieces of the post-DeSean Jackson era in Philly, Ertz has done nothing to squash the hype in camp. Veteran reporter Paul Domowitch goes as far as to mention Ertz in the same breath as Jimmy Graham, Jason Witten and Rob Gronkowski. "Ertz has that kind of ability, that kind of upside," Domowitch says. Although in-line blocking stud Brent Celek remains the starter, the Eagles are going to feature a ton of "12" looks that get Ertz mismatches against linebackers. He'll be a featured player in the red-zone and remains one of our favorite middle-round TE1s.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette confirms the Steelers are not going to impose any suspensions on Le'Veon Bell or LeGarrette Blount.

Beat man Ed Bouchette has heard from fantasy players worried that Bell and/or Blount would be suspended by coach Mike Tomlin for Week 1. It's not going to happen because 1)The Steelers want to beat the Browns and 2)Team-imposed suspensions violate the league's collective bargaining agreement. Furthermore, any discipline from the NFL won't be handed down until after the case plays out in court -- something that can be held off until after the season. "If you have not yet held your fantasy football draft and want to take Le'Veon Bell, you can do so without fear it will cost you or him a game," writes Bouchette.
