49ers signed OLB Eric Bakhtiari to a two-year contract.

Bakhtiari is taking the suspended Clark Haggans' roster spot. The deal is likely two years for bonus spreading purposes. A former undrafted free agent, Bakhtiari hasn't appeared in a game since 2009.

Impending free agent Josh McCown said he plans to continue playing in 2018.

"I enjoyed my season [with the Jets]," McCown said. "It's a special place from the ownership down. I enjoyed my time with Coach [Todd] Bowles. A lot of decisions have to be made within the next few months, but I loved being there, and we'll see how it plays out." McCown will turn 39 in the summer, but everyone involved with the Jets' decision-making has said they'd like for McCown to return. He'll likely be a fallback plan to the Kirk Cousins types in free agency, but McCown would be a perfect bridge quarterback and mentor for an incoming rookie.

Speaking at the Senior Bowl on Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team has no plans to move on from Dez Bryant.

Jones said he expects Bryant to return in 2018, though he didn't say if the Cowboys would ask him to take a pay cut. Bryant has failed to reach 1,000 yards receiving or double-digit touchdowns in his last three seasons and led the league with 12 dropped passes in 2017. Jones' son, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones, has also suggested that Bryant's behavior on the sidelines has become a "distraction." As it stands now, the 29-year-old will earn $12.5 million next season.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer would not commit to re-signing Case Keenum Tuesday at his year-end press conference.

When asked if Keenum deserved to be the team's starter next year, all Zimmer could muster was, "We're going to work through the process." Keenum struggled against the Eagles in Sunday's NFC Championship but was solid throughout the year, finishing second in the league in completion percentage and seventh in quarterback rating. Of course, Keenum had never been a full-time starter before this year and turns 30 next month. Whether it's from the Vikings or another team, Keenum should get a huge raise this offseason after earning just $2 million in 2017.

Larry Fitzgerald still hasn't made a decision on playing in 2018.

Steve Wilks had an "in-depth conversation" with Fitzgerald after landing the team's head-coaching job on Monday, but said the star wideout still hasn't given him an answer on whether he plans on returning for what would be his 15th NFL season. Fitzgerald is nearing a number of career milestones and showed he still has plenty left by finishing second in the league with 109 catches in 2017. Fitzgerald previously said the retirements of Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians will have no bearing on his decision.

Ex-Broncos OC Mike McCoy will interview for the Cardinals' offensive coordinator job.

Former Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell interviewed for the same position earlier today and is reportedly "pondering his options." McCoy is coming off a disappointing tenure as Denver's offensive coordinator, though he had little chance to succeed with Trevor Siemian and Brock Osweiler at quarterback. McCoy is also a candidate to replace Pat Shurmur as Minnesota's OC.

Derek Carr admitted his back injury affected him throughout the season.

Carr never looked the same after suffering the injury in Week 4. "When you break three bones in your back, it doesn’t feel good," he said. "I had to deal with it." Carr probably came back too soon, missing just one game after originally being given a 2-4 week recovery window. The 26-year-old will have his work cut out for him in 2018 working under demanding head coach Jon Gruden.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Cardinals DC James Bettcher is scheduled to meet with the Giants and Titans about their defensive coordinator vacancies.

Bettcher has not been let go by the Cardinals, but it seems to be a fait accompli after Arizona hired Steve Wilks to be their new head coach. The coordinator since 2015, Bettcher has overseen quality defenses during his time in Arizona. He would be a good hire for either team.

Derek Carr said he wants new coach Jon Gruden "to be tough" on him.

Gruden has said he will "demand more" from his quarterback moving forward, and it sounds like Carr is fine with that. "I hope that he demands of me. I hope he’s hard on me," Carr said. "Let’s go fix problems that I have and let’s do what I need to do to win championships." Carr has plenty of problems to fix coming off a down season, but he has shown in the past he can be a quality quarterback. His willingness to accept criticism and work with Gruden is a good sign he will get back to that level again.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Dez Bryant's behavior on the sidelines "can be a distraction."

In addition to his behavior, Jones questioned Bryant's fit with Dak Prescott and his place on the team. "The chemistry between Dak and Dez is different between Tony (Romo) and Dez. ... It hasn’t hit on all cylinders on how the connection works. It’s a work in progress," Jones said. "And we just have to really get our hands around, when you put all the full body of work together, where that's headed." Owed $12.5 million and coming off one of his least productive seasons, Dez was by no means a lock to return, but these comments make it seem like Dallas is seriously considering a divorce. Of course, Jones also might be trying to soften up Bryant before asking him to take a pay cut, an idea Dez shot down in December. Cutting Bryant would save the Cowboys $8.5 million against the cap but leave them with nothing resembling a No. 1 receiver.

Wyoming QB Josh Allen said he wants "to be the guy that turns around" the Browns.

"The guy that does that is going to be immortalized in Cleveland forever," Allen added. "If I’m fortunate enough to become a Cleveland Brown, you can expect everything from me." This is almost a subtweet of UCLA QB Josh Rosen, who said he would rather "be a lower pick" than play for the "wrong team." A scout reportedly told MMQB's Peter King there is "no way" the Browns pass on Allen, so it is possible the quarterback gets his wish.
Jan 23 - 9:10 AM

MMQB's Peter King expects impending free agent Le'Veon Bell to "go to the highest bidder" and names the Raiders as a team to "watch" for Bell.

King doesn't do much reporting in terms of breaking news anymore, but he still has many connections throughout the league. The new staff in Oakland has been mum when it comes to Marshawn Lynch's future with the team, so Beast Mode could very well be one-and-done for his hometown Raiders. Oakland could use that money to go after a younger stallion like Bell, but he'll have no shortage of suitors should he reach the open market. It's going to be tough for the Steelers to use the franchise tag on Bell again this year since they have very little cap room at the moment. However, creating cap space is a relatively simple task.
