Colin McCarthy (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

McCarthy has been out since the season opener, but returned to practice this week, and is expected to start barring any last minute setbacks. The Titans will consider limiting his snaps based on how he feels in pre-game warmups.

Carson Palmer completed 8-of-22 passes for 103 yards and two interceptions in the Cardinals' third preseason game.

Bruce Arians let the ones play longer than expected because the offense struggled so much. Palmer was intercepted on Arizona's first drive, getting picked on an errant wide throw by Raiders FS Nate Allen along the sideline. The rest of the first half, Arizona's offensive line was bullied by Khalil Mack & Co., leaving Palmer without clean passing-game looks and forcing him into inaccurate throws. Palmer was picked again by Allen toward the end of the second quarter. Through three preseason contests, Palmer is 15-of-33 passing for 268 yards, one touchdown, and the two picks. He's been sacked five times among 38 dropbacks.

Yahoo! Sports' Charles Robinson reports the Cowboys believe Darren McFadden is the "best of the bunch" at running back.

Robinson reports the Cowboys are committed to a running back by committee, but he added Dallas would have likely ridden McFadden's hot hand on Saturday night had it been a regular season game. Owner Jerry Jones has talked up Joseph Randle all offseason, but it appears McFadden has a real chance to lead the team in touches if he can stay healthy. The uncertainty surrounding the situation makes Randle un-draftable in the fourth round.

According to Yahoo's Charles Robinson, the Cowboys' plan to use an RBBC backfield is "not a bluff," and the rotation will be a "committee in the purest NFL form."

Per Robinson, "the Cowboys are adamant that their elite offensive line can be the glue that elevates a collection of parts into a greater whole." In other words, the Cowboys are banking on their O-Line and less on the talent of their backfield, which is questionable to be kind with Joe Randle, Darren McFadden, and Lance Dunbar vying for work. Had Saturday night's preseason game been a regular season one, Robinson believes the Cowboys "would have ridden McFadden's hot hand," despite Randle starting the game. Robinson guesses none of the Cowboys' backs will rush for more than 850 yards this season.

Bears released CB Tim Jennings.

The writing was on the wall when Jennings was playing deep into the fourth quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals. Jennings started the Bears' first two preseason games, but was generally ineffective and played behind Alan Ball and Sherrick McManis last night. Jennings started all but six games during his five years in Chicago, earning Pro Bowl berths in 2012 and 2013. Only 31, Jennings will certainly get a look from corner-needy teams.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin does not expect Victor Cruz (calf) to practice this week.

The Giants insist the injuries aren't related, but Cruz is coming back from a torn patellar tendon, an injury that frequently leads to "compensation" injuries in other areas of the body. Cruz has no known timetable for return.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Redskins "front office officials and coaches" want to move on from Robert Griffin III, but are "meeting resistance from team ownership."

It's no secret owner Dan Snyder played a major role in spoiling RG3, resulting in clashes with both the Shanahan and Gruden coaching staffs. It now sounds like GM Scot McCloughan is on board with cutting ties on Griffin, but Snyder isn't letting the move happen. Schefter reports the Skins have gone so far as to shop RG3 on the trade market, "but have found no interest." A split between the Redskins' organization and Griffin seems imminent.

Speaking Sunday, Browns coach Mike Pettine refused to rule out signing free agent Ray Rice.

With Duke Johnson in the concussion protocol, the Browns are short at running back. It's the second time Pettine has passed up the opportunity to say the team isn't interested in Rice. Although Rice is now 28 and coming off a year where he didn't play, he leads a barren running back "market." Rice's addition would further muddle a backfield where the pecking order has been anything but clear.

Randall Cobb's MRI revealed only a sprained AC joint in his shoulder.

Cobb admitted he feared a broken collarbone when he left holding his arm with the injury, but it's a mere sprain, or partial tear. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls Cobb's injury "minor," but acknowledges there's still "no word" on whether Cobb will be ready for Week 1. It sounds like a day-to-day injury. We like Cobb's chances of being all set for Opening Day against the Bears.

Coach Gary Kubiak suggested the Broncos were expecting more year-two development from WR Cody Latimer.

Keep in mind these comments were made before Latimer's rough third preseason game where he dropped an easy TD and frustrated Peyton Manning by running the wrong route. Teammate Demaryius Thomas hinted Latimer is showing up in practice, but it's not translating to games. "You just want to see him making plays," said Kubiak. "He's a hard worker. He does the right thing. He's in the right place, but it's time for him to start making plays on the ball, coming up with big plays."

Tre Mason's right hamstring pull is "mild."

Mason will sit out Thursday's preseason finale, but it sounds like he'll be ready to rock for Week 1, which is in exactly two weeks. With Todd Gurley expected to be eased in, Mason will offer some FLEX appeal in September, though he has a rough opening matchup in the Seahawks.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Randall Cobb's shoulder injury is believed to be minor.

Per Rapsheet, Cobb is believed to have escaped with a minor sprain. It's the best possible news for the Packers, who couldn't afford even a short absence from their new No. 1 receiver. As it is, Cobb now has 14 days to get ready for Week 1, and should be ready to roll as a WR1 against the Bears. Cobb's status will be updated sometime in the next 24-48 hours.
