Bengals placed RB Bernard Scott on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

It's believed Scott tore his left ACL. It's a bitter end to a season where Scott could never get healthy. Scott missed Weeks 1 and 2 with a hand issue before turning his ankle in his Week 3 debut. He finishes with just eight carries for 35 yards. We've long been a fan of Scott's athleticism, but he has only 284 career touches through four seasons to show for it. He'll be a free agent at season's end. Seemingly never able to earn the full trust of the Bengals' coaching staff, it would likely be best if he moved on. A tandem of Cedric Peerman and Brian Leonard will now back-up plodding lead-back BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Neither is worth an own in fantasy leagues.

Jared Goff completed 22-of-28 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-39 win over the 49ers in Week 3.

What a difference a year makes with his career-high 145.8 passer rating in this one. In fact, Goff's passing rating improvement from his lowly 63.1 in his rookie season to his second-year rating of 118.2 is on pace to be the largest increase since 1970 among players making the jump to their sophomore season. Last year, he was also dead last in yards per attempt among quarterbacks with at least 200 attempts, but his air yards have transformed his approach as a passer. Coach Sean McVay is probably a slight improvement from the guy last year. While he's done a great job shedding the bust label so far this season, Goff is still going to be a risky fantasy play in Dallas for Week 4.

Todd Gurley rushed 28 times for 113 yards and two rushing touchdowns and caught 5-of-7 targets for 36 yards and one receiving touchdown against the 49ers in Week 3.

This isn't that same old seven and nine stuff. Gurley's three TDs in the first half got him to six in the first 10 quarters of this season, which matched his entire total in 2016. His usage is headed to be among the league leaders and the Rams' sudden improvement on offense should lead to more scores. Coach Sean McVay blamed himself for Gurley's fumbling issues in Week 2 and talked about his own "uncharacteristic decisions" and "indecisiveness," so clearly he trusts his bell-cow back. Gurley looks like he will be an RB1 in his third season.

Sammy Watkins is in the concussion protocol following a win over the 49ers in Week 3, finishing with six catches, 106 yards and two touchdowns on his seven targets.

He was hit hard on his second touchdown, walked to the locker room under his own power, and the severity of the injury is not yet known, but let's focus on how marvelous he was before the injury for now. He scored his first touchdown as the primary read on a double slant from the one-yard line, and Watkins had one of the prettiest over-the-shoulder catches you'll ever see for a 47-yard completion earlier in the game. Coach Sean McVay talked about getting his key players in a better rhythm, so it would appear we won't see Watkins get 3.5 targets per game like he did in the first two outings this year. Hopefully, the extra days off before Week 4 will be enough for him to be ready for the Cowboys.

Robert Woods caught 6-of-7 targets for 108 yards against the 49ers in Week 3.

He led the Rams receivers in snaps for the first two games and he was even out there in one-wide sets near the goal line tonight. As impressive as this line is after a one-catch Week 2, the Rams do look to be involving Sammy Watkins more and running the rock will be essential to their success, so Woods will have tough time matching this output most weeks. Unless Watkins does have a concussion and needs to miss time, Woods isn't really a great fantasy pickup after this one.
Sep 22 - 12:24 AM

Carlos Hyde rushed 25 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams in a Week 3 loss, adding three catches for 10 yards.

He suffered a left hip injury in the first quarter and returned in the second quarter after some heat treatment. Hyde was able to score his first TD of the season with the 49ers running in four consecutive times on a goal-to-go situation, and his second TD came on another big fourth down in the fourth quarter. Additionally, coach Kyle Shanahan does appear to have plans of using Hyde as a pass catcher all season. He'll get a few extra days off to heal his hip, so his fantasy owners should plan on locking him in for Week 4 against the Cardinals.
Sep 22 - 12:08 AM

Pierre Garcon caught 7-of-10 targets for 142 yards against the Rams in a Week 3 loss.

After just three catches in Week 2, Brian Hoyer went to his guy on passes at all depths, including a 59-yard deep ball down the sideline. Garcon is one of the most sure-handed guys in the league with just one drop on his 79 catches last year, so it looks like he's gained the trust of his coaches and quarterback. While he gets a tougher matchup against the Cardinals in Week 4, he should still be viewed as a strong option in PPR leagues and looks to be trending up after a slow start.

Carlos Hyde (hip) returned to the Week 3 game against the Rams in the second quarter.

After the first quarter injury and being called questionable, he got some heat treatment on his left hip and kept his helmet on for most of his time on the sideline. For now, it looks like Hyde should be OK. If he's limited, Matt Breida would pick up some extra work. We'll let you know how Hyde looks the rest of the way.

Jimmy Graham (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.

That makes it two missed practices in a row and he's shaping up to be very questionable for Week 3 against the Titans. The Seahawks have listed him on the injury report with an ankle injury, but the team did say he banged his knee in Week 2. If Graham can't play, Luke Wilson and Nick Vannett would likely fill in while the Seahawks run with more three-wide sets.
Sep 21 - 7:18 PM

Melvin Gordon was added to the Chargers' injury report on Thursday, getting in a limited session with a knee issue.

Not what you want to see, but there's a strong chance it's simply the Chargers playing it safe with a back who has a history of knee issues. At this point, there's zero reason to believe Gordon won't be out there against the Chiefs on Sunday.
Sep 21 - 6:53 PM

Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice.

Thomas is ready to rock for Sunday's trip to Buffalo. He's camped out on the WR1/2 borderline.
Sep 21 - 6:20 PM

Jordan Howard (shoulder) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.

The Bears haven't spoken much on Howard's status, but the back-to-back limited sessions suggest he will suit up against the Steelers. At less than 100 percent with Tarik Cohen monopolizing passing-game work, Howard will be an RB3 if he manages to play against the Steelers' tough defense.
