Donald Brown (knee) has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Brown was listed as probable after returning to a full practice Friday, but team doctors reportedly found swelling in his knee Saturday. His Week 9 status is now in doubt. Brown will be re-evaluated Sunday as a game-time decision. Even if active, he would be used in a committee role with Vick Ballard.

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin says the team is open to giving Lamar Miller more carries in 2015.

Miller notoriously failed to hit 20 carries in any game last year, despite averaging an explosive 5.09 yards per tote in one of the NFL's most efficient rushing offenses. Miller did handle 19 carries in each of Miami's final two games, however, and Philbin left the door open for Miller to be treated more like a workhorse this year. "I would tell you I’ve never been in a meeting where I’ve said to [OC] Bill [Lazor] or [RBs coach] Jeff Nixon or the offensive line coaches (that) ‘Lamar can’t carry the ball 20 times a game. He can’t do it,’" Philbin insisted. "I’ve never heard that. That’s never come out of my mouth. ... I would tell you, if he’s cranking and he got it 24 times a game and he’s healthy and he’s fast and he’s explosive, it doesn’t bother me one bit." If Philbin stays true to his word, Miller will offer high-end RB1 upside after finishing 2014 as fantasy's No. 9 overall back.

Free agent LT Jake Long is working out for the Falcons Tuesday.

Long, recovering from his second ACL tear at 30 years old, has been on the street since the Rams cut him in March. The former No. 1 overall pick would be a low-risk addition for a Falcons team that desperately needs to protect Matt Ryan better. Left tackle Jake Matthews struggled badly as a rookie and potential right tackle Tyler Polumbus is not the answer. The Falcons are putting Long and his balky knees through a physical Tuesday.

Sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter that Tom Brady and the NFL were still discussing a settlement as of Tuesday morning.

It remains highly unlikely the two sides will reach an agreement before Patriots training camp opens Thursday. Stephen A. Smith is "hearing" the four-game ban will be upheld within the next 24-48 hours, which is the no-brainer outcome given Roger Goodell's stance on the matter. Of course, none of this matters too much as Brady is widely expected to challenge the NFL in court. He will "seek an injunction that will allow him to play while his case works its way through the courts," per ESPN.

Cowboys released RB Ryan Williams.

The oft-injured Williams couldn't stay out of the training room again, undergoing a knee procedure after he experienced swelling in June. The Cowboys added Stephen F. Austin UDFA Gus Johnson to take his place on the 90-man roster. Unless Chris Johnson or another veteran comes aboard, it looks like the Cowboys will roll with Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar as their top-three running backs.

The NFL and Le'Veon Bell are negotiating a settlement that could reduce his three-game suspension to one or two games.

Bell's suspension stems from an August 2014 incident in which he was pulled over with marijuana in his car, and got charged with both possession and a DUI. Bell's camp is arguing that he's being punished twice for the same offense. As a player with no known history of breaking the law, he appears to have a legit shot at a reduction. Bell, already in the conversation at No. 1 overall in fantasy, would surely be the top pick if he only will sit 1-2 games.

Terrance West appeared to surrender reps to Duke Johnson and Shaun Draughn during OTAs and minicamp.

The Browns have said they want to ride the hot hand at running back this season. It's going to be very difficult for West to get that hot hand if he's fourth in line behind Isaiah Crowell, Johnson and Draughn. West had a rocky rookie year, often looking average on the field and getting in the coaches' doghouse off it. The Browns used a third-round pick on Johnson in May.

The Cardinals have brought in Dr. Jen Welter as a training camp/preseason inside linebackers coaching intern.

Welter is the first ever female coach in the NFL. Just about four months after the NFL hired its first woman official in Sarah Thomas, coach Bruce Arians is giving Welter a chance to impress as a coach. Welter is a Doctor of Sports Psychology and had been working as a coach for the Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League. Arians openly supported woman coaches at the owners meetings.

Coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that Cordarrelle Patterson's consistency has remained an issue on the practice field.

"He'll have really good days, and then he'll have some not-so-good days," Zimmer said. "Really, I think what he needs to do is just the consistency every single day and the consistency in studying, the consistency in getting extra help that he needs if he needs it, running the routes the same all the time." Behind Charles Johnson, Mike Wallace, and Jarius Wright on the depth chart, Patterson is unlikely to contribute in fantasy this year. Added Zimmer, "To me, the biggest thing with him is that: Does he want to be 'Flash' or does he want to be a great receiver? I'm not trying to dog him or anything, but that's really what it is."

Asked Monday about Adrian Peterson's workload, coach Mike Zimmer replied "He'll get as much as he can take."

"Adrian's going to get the heavy workload," said Zimmer, a defensive-minded coach. "As much as he can take, and as much as he can handle in all the things that we're doing. Obviously, we're going to have to spell him at times like you do a lot of guys. But we get down on the goal line, and we're probably not pulling him out, you know? He's our best player, and we're going to continue to use him." Peterson's age (30) and lost 2014 season may be concerns for his 2015 outlook. His projected workload in an ascending offense is a major plus.

Suspended RB Le'Veon Bell was a full participant for the start of Steelers camp on Monday.

Bell missed last January's playoff loss to Baltimore with a hyperextended knee, and recently said he wasn't 100-percent healthy. Per beat writer Jeremy Fowler, however, Le'Veon looked "noticeably explosive" on the first day of camp. Fowler added that Le'Veon "says he's in the best shape of his life, and he's not lying," showing quick feet and straight-line speed in practice.

NFL.com's Rand Getlin reports free agent Chris Johnson's player rep has been "in contact with" Dallas.

Getlin says Johnson is "feeling explosive," and "ready to get back on the field." The report comes 10 days after CBS' Jason La Canfora said he "wouldn't be shocked" if CJ?K landed in Dallas. Johnson is well past his prime, but wouldn't be a bad flier for the RB-deficient Cowboys to take. Johnson arguably has (much) more left in the tank than Darren McFadden.
