Danny Amendola made a major impact in his Week 10 return, catching 11 passes for 102 yards in St. Louis' tie with the 49ers.

Amendola reeled in an impressive 11-of-12 targets. He was thisclose to a much bigger afternoon, but had a 79-yard catch in overtime overturned by an almost imperceptible procedure penalty. A monster punt return was wiped out by penalty, as well. Amendola appeared to tweak his shoulder in the first half, but ended up missing only a series. Although his durability is an open question — Amendola seems to make a living landing hard on his shoulder — he's unquestionably the engine of the Rams offense, and possesses monster PPR value and WR2 upside in standard leagues. He's a much more dynamic player than he was during his breakout 2010 season.

Ty Montgomery (leg) is expected to miss the Packers' second preseason game.

Montgomery is "working through" a lower leg injury that's sidelined him the last two days. The missed time creates some depth-chart leaping for fourth-rounder Jamaal Williams, who's getting most of Montgomery's practice reps. Williams is expected to start Saturday at Washington.

Brock Osweiler will start the Browns' second preseason game.

It's an expected decision despite Osweiler's poor showing in the preseason opener. DeShone Kizer will be the second quarterback through the rotation and remains in the mix for Cleveland's Week 1 job. Whoever starts the third preseason game will begin the year as the starter.

The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are "close to a deal" with free agent C Jeremy Zuttah.

The Ravens have heated up talks with Zuttah after his Indy visit. The Colts are "still in the picture," but it would be surprising if Zuttah didn't return to Baltimore after a Pro Bowl 2016. Zuttah's multiple team interest should land him some guaranteed money.

Seahawks seventh-round RB Chris Carson "got turns" with the first-team offense at Tuesday's practice.

Thomas Rawls (undisclosed) sat out practice, so all three of Eddie Lacy, C.J. Prosise, and Carson got reps with the ones. Beat writer Sheil Kapadia notes Carson is "clearly ahead" of Alex Collins for the fourth running back job. Carson has been talked up multiple times this summer and had a strong showing in the preseason opener, rushing for a pair of touchdowns. Carson is a name to monitor in Dynasty leagues behind a trio of injury-prone running backs.

The NFL has tabbed Harold Henderson to hear the appeal of Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension.

Henderson regularly oversees appeals hearings for the league, and the NFL tried to push him as an objective, non-biased party by having NFL Network reporters tweet that Henderson reduced Greg Hardy's suspension from ten games to four. However, PFT's Mike Florio -- an attorney by trade -- notes that Henderson's presence in the case "significantly" drops the chances of Zeke having the suspension overturned. "At best, he'll get a mild reduction," Florio wrote. Florio also states Henderson's hiring "significantly" increases the chances Elliott eventually files a lawsuit. Elliott's appeal will be heard on August 29.

Seahawks signed CB Tramaine Brock, formerly of the 49ers, to a one-year contract.

Seattle was the only visit Brock made after he was cleared of domestic violence charges last week. It's a great get at this stage of the year at a position of need for the Seahawks. Brock was Pro Football Focus' No. 16 cornerback out of 119 qualifiers last season and was only cut by the Niners because of his arrest. He'll push impressive rookie Shaq Griffin to be Seattle's No. 2 corner.

Coach Bruce Arians said Jaron Brown is the Cardinals' No. 2 receiver.

Arians added a "right now," but Brown has taken hold of the job while John Brown (quad) has been nursing a quad strain for the past three weeks. A fifth-year possession-type receiver, Brown hasn't gotten many opportunities, but he was pushing at the No. 2 gig last season when Michael Floyd was scuffling. Brown ended up tearing his ACL in October. He's been all systems go in camp.

According to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs, Mike Glennon remains the "strong favorite" to start the Bears' Week 1 opener against the Falcons.

However, Biggs admits he "wouldn't rule out the possibility" that Trubisky is the one under center. Glennon was brutal in the preseason opener, throwing a pick-six and completing 2-of-8 passes total. Trubisky then came on and lit it up against the Broncos' backups with one of the best showings of the first week of the preseason. If it happens again, the pressure will continue to mount.

Saints CB Delvin Breaux has been diagnosed with a fractured fibula and will miss 4-6 weeks.

The team has fired its orthopedists after misdiagnosing Breaux weeks ago with a simple contusion. It's far more than that, and Breaux could have underwent surgery sooner. He's now likely to miss multiple regular-season games. It was reported earlier this week that the Saints were shopping Breaux, but the missed diagnosis has given Breaux a legit reason for missing practice.

Cowboys second-year LB Jaylon Smith (knee) will make his professional debut in Saturday's second preseason game.

The No. 34 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Smith missed all of last year as he recovered from a gruesome knee injury suffered in his final year at Notre Dame. The Cowboys still took a chance on him, even though there was doubt he'd ever step back on a football field as a player. Smith has gone through a grueling rehab and would be a big boost if he can get close to pre-injury form.

Speaking Tuesday, John Brown (quad) made it clear he's not 100 percent and has no plans to "rush back."

Coach Bruce Arians intimated earlier in the day that Brown was ready to practice in full, but Brown isn't yet capable. "My body is different than others'," Brown said. "They expect me to come back fast, but I can’t. I’m all right, but I’m not where I want to be at." Brown remains more day-to-day than the week-to-week he has been for the past 2.5 weeks, but he's doubtful to play in the second preseason game. It's just another reminder how fragile and slow to recover Brown has been dating back to last year at this time. He's more of a high-ceiling, low-floor WR4.
