Coach Dennis Allen said Derek Hagan will start Sunday's game against the Saints if Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) is inactive.

Heyward-Bey appears to be on the wrong side of a questionable tag. If Hagan does get the nod, he'll be the "Z" receiver opposite Denarius Moore but a mere desperation PPR option. When DHB sat out at Denver Week 4, Hagan ended up with just two catches for 18 yards. This time, of course, he'd be facing the Swiss cheese Saints' secondary. Still, slot man Rod Streater and rookie Juron Criner project to steal targets.

Matt Ryan completed 20-of-30 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns in the Falcons' 45-32, Week 3 win over the Saints on Monday night.

The Saints could have pulled 11 fans from the Superdome stands to play defense as good -- er, bad -- as the 11-man group they used Monday night. Granted, New Orleans has already lost half its starting defense to injury, but this was a totally pathetic effort. The Falcons hung the 45 points and 442 total yards of offense all with Julio Jones contributing just one 16-yard catch and Mohamed Sanu leaving before halftime with a shoulder injury. Ryan hooked up with Devonta Freeman on his first touchdown from 13 yards away and then hit Justin Hardy for a short score on a shovel pass. Ryan has been an elite QB1 through three weeks, but gets a tough test with the Panthers coming to town Week 4.

Mohamed Sanu exited Week 3 against the Saints with a shoulder injury.

Prior to leaving just before halftime, Sanu was leading the Falcons with three catches for 31 yards on a team-high four targets. Sanu entered the week with an ankle issue and has battled the injury bug early in the year.

Updating a previous item, free agent Greg Hardy was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine in Richardson, Tex. late Sunday night.

Hardy was pulled over for not using his turn signal. Police asked to search the vehicle. Hardy granted them permission, and they found a baggie of cocaine in Hardy's wallet. Hardy said it was put in there by someone else because he was passing his wallet around at the bar, paying for everyone. Police also found a weed grinder and membership cards for gun ranges. None of it is going to go over well with the league or the 32 teams. His career is likely over.

49ers OT Anthony Davis announced his retirement from the NFL after six seasons.

Well, that was quick. Davis retired before the 2015 season, spent the entire year away from the game, but came back to the 49ers this summer. He played three snaps Week 1 but had been sidelined the past two weeks with a concussion. The 49ers will move forward with Trenton Brown at right tackle. Davis was the No. 11 overall pick in 2010 and turns 27 in two weeks.

Cowboys placed LG La'El Collins on injured reserve with a sprained big toe in his foot.

Per beat writer Clarence Hill, Collins is expected to miss 8-10 weeks. Collins went down midway through Sunday night's Week 3 win over the Bears. Former starter Ronald Leary will move back into the lineup and might be a short-term upgrade. Collins is PFF's No. 73 guard out of 75 qualifiers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jeremy Langford (ankle) is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

It sounds like a severe high-ankle sprain for Langford. After Langford went down Sunday night against the Cowboys, rookie Jordan Howard was essentially an every-down back with Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) also hurt. Howard should be "the guy" moving forward. Raheem Mostert is currently the backup, but look for the Bears to add some running-back depth this week. Howard is a must-add in all formats where available. He can run and catch out of the backfield.

Willie Snead (toe) is inactive for Week 3 against the Falcons.

Rookie Mike Thomas will fill in and play heavier snaps as the No. 2 receiver, while Brandon Coleman will see increased work in three-wide sets. Look for those two and Coby Fleener to be more prominent targets in the red zone. Also inactive for the Saints are S Kenny Vaccaro (ankle), LT Terron Armstead (knee), DT Tyeler Davison, WLB Dannell Ellerbe, CB Delvin Breaux, and TE Josh Hill.

Julio Jones (calf, ankle) is active and "good to go" for Monday night's Week 3 game against the Saints.

There was never much doubt despite the questionable tag. Jones may not be 100 percent, but he came into the week as the elite WR1 play against a Saints defense that lost its Nos. 1 and 2 cornerbacks to injury Weeks 1 and 2. Hybrid S/slot CB Kenny Vaccaro (ankle) is also inactive.

Browns RG Alvin Bailey was arrested for DUI early Monday morning in Cleveland.

Bailey admitted to drinking several whiskeys on the flight home from Miami and then continuing his drinking at a local establishment back home in Cleveland. He was followed into a park parking lot where an officer stopped Bailey and found trace amounts of marijuana in the center console. Bailey was also cited for failure to comply, drug abuse, drug paraphernalia, speeding, and unsafe vehicle due to a cracked windshield. It could cost Bailey his job with the Browns.

Free agent C.J. Spiller will work out for the Jets on Tuesday.

Spiller played for OC Chan Gailey in Buffalo and had the best season of his career in Gailey's final year as the Bills' head coach in 2012. Spiller amassed 1,703 total yards and eight touchdowns in Gailey's spread scheme that season. In New York, he'd be insurance behind Matt Forte and Bilal Powell.

Coach Pete Carroll said Russell Wilson (knee) is doing "remarkably well," and he expects him to practice Wednesday and play Week 4 against the Jets.

"We feel like he's gonna be fine," Carroll said. Carroll has always seen things better than they may truly be, but all indications are Wilson will be able to go next Sunday. If he's seriously dealing with a sprained MCL, expect the Seahawks to take it easy on Wilson during the practice week. Wilson will be a borderline QB1/2 at less than 100 percent against the Jets' feared front four.
