Bryce Brown rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and caught four passes for 11 yards in Monday night's 30-22, Week 12 loss to the Panthers.
Brown, in his first career start in place of the injured LeSean McCoy (concussion), busted out of the gates and was really the only Eagle to show up against Carolina. After quitting the Kansas State football team in 2011, Brown was a seventh-round pick in this year's draft. He showed a wonderful blend of power and speed and is a back that doesn't waste many steps. Brown sees the hole and hits it hard, which is the opposite of McCoy. McCoy is more of an improviser and creator, so the Eagles could have a nice one-two punch for the future. However, at this point, McCoy hasn't been cleared, so Brown may be in line for a multi-week audition as the No. 1 guy in the backfield. The only blemishes on the night were two lost fumbles due to not holding the ball close to the body. Brown has a match with the Cowboys in Week 13, who are down to Ernie Sims and Dan Connor at inside linebacker.
