LeSean McCoy (concussion) is still in Phase 1 of his recovery.

In other words, McCoy isn't close to a return. He's far behind Michael Vick, who sustained his concussion a week before McCoy and still hasn't been cleared. With the Eagles' season in the toilet, Shady certainly won't be rushed. Exciting rookie Bryce Brown will start at least one more game and could very well be "the man" for a few more weeks after that. Brown busted out with 23 touches, 189 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's loss to the Panthers. He'll be on the RB1 radar against the Cowboys Sunday.

Ezekiel Elliott rushed seven times for 48 yards in his preseason debut Thursday night.

He also stood out with two key blitz pickups. Running against Seattle's first-team defense, Elliott showed decisiveness between the tackles and quick cutting ability when sprung onto the second level by Dallas' beastly offensive line. Zeke operated as the Cowboys' every-down back until taking a seat next to Romo and handing the reins to Alfred Morris for the rest of the night. Morris has played well enough in August to have earned an early-season role, but Elliott is Dallas' clear bellcow back. In fantasy drafts, Zeke is worth consideration beginning at the first-/second-round turn.

Tony Romo exited the Cowboys' third preseason game after just three snaps due to a back injury.

The Cowboys got a major scare when Romo twisted his back at the end of a short scramble. He shook it off on the sideline and pleaded with coach Jason Garrett to reenter, but the Cowboys understandably didn't think it was worth it. Later, the Cowboys' broadcast said Romo's back was "tight" and he could have went back in, but was held out on a "coaches' decision." While Romo should be fine for Week 1, this was a reminder of his fragility at age 36.

Kenny Stills caught 4-of-6 targets for 46 yards in the Dolphins' third preseason game.

Most importantly, Stills played ahead of DeVante Parker in two-receiver sets. The Dolphins are going to be a base-three-receiver team, but Stills' ascension is notable because he's generated minimal buzz in the fantasy community. NBC's Cris Collinsworth noted during Thursday night's game that the Dolphins "are stunned at what a great leader Kenny Stills has turned into." In Miami's last two preseason games, Stills has 117 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. Particularly in best-ball leagues, Stills needs to be taken seriously as a late-round fantasy pick.

Updating a previous item, the Falcons held Julio Jones out of the remainder of their third preseason game as a precaution.

Julio was initially reported to have left with an ankle injury after a failed deep-ball attempt, but NBC's Michele Tafoya confirmed Julio is okay. Jones is safe to continue selecting in the top-three picks of fantasy drafts.

Falcons first-round SS Keanu Neal exited Thursday night's third preseason game against the Dolphins with a knee injury.

Neal's left knee looked to buckle on a replay, but reports are trainers were working on his right knee. Neal had to be escorted off the field and eventually walked to the locker room under his own power. It was a non-contact injury. Neal is supposed to be coach Dan Quinn's new Kam Chancellor.

The Indianapolis Star calls Robert Turbin the Colts' "likely No. 2 back."

During an abysmal preseason, spring hype bunny Josh Ferguson has plummeted to No. 4 on the depth chart behind Turbin and Jordan Todman. Todman is also a core special teams player, which assures him a spot on the game-day roster. Assuming Ferguson even makes the 53, he could open the season as a healthy scratch.

Appearing on Mike Clay's Sirius Fantasy show, ESPN Broncos reporter Jeff Legwold stated that Trevor Siemian "has won the starting job."

Siemian apparently "won the starting job" in a preseason game he was pick sixed by 49ers FS Eric Reid. More accurately, Mark Sanchez outright lost the starting job with three turnovers in Denver's first two exhibitions, and Paxton Lynch isn't quite ready yet. Siemian is on track to start Week 1, but if he starts the season slow, coach Gary Kubiak could have a quick hook.

Free agent S Donte Whitner will visit the Panthers on Friday.

It could be an indication the Panthers aren't sold on third-year pro Tre Boston opposite FS Kurt Coleman. Whitner was cut by the rebuilding Browns in April, but had a passable 2015. Whitner's lone previous visit came in April to the Rams, but he's the kind of player who could get a big boost from the Panthers' DB-friendly scheme. He can't be that much worse than Roman Harper.

Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle, headaches) is "holding out hope" he'll be ready for Week 1, but acknowledges his rehab has gone "very slow."

It's still unclear what Green is even "rehabbing." He's adopted the team's party line that he's not dealing with headaches, but his own agent has said it's not his ankle. It's a ridiculously-muddled situation, one that makes Green a no-go as anything other than a risk/reward TE2.

MMQB's Albert Breer reports the Cowboys had "some concern" when Ezekiel Elliott reported to training camp at 231 pounds before pulling his hamstring.

231 is only six pounds heavier than Elliott's 225-pound Combine weigh-in, but it still wasn't ideal. Breer also said Zeke "worked off some of that weight" before suffering the injury. "As a player, I loved him to death," one NFL scout told Breer. "He’s the highest graded back I’ve ever done. He does everything well—running, catching, pass pro. But as far as going to Dallas, the bright lights, big city, I’ve always thought it could be tough for him. He likes football. He also likes everything that goes along with being a star." Elliott could silence some of his critics by turning in a big preseason game Thursday night against the Seahawks.

John Brown (concussion) returned to Cardinals practice Thursday.

Brown's Wednesday headache looks like it was just a scare after he returned from his concussion on Sunday. It's still obviously a situation to monitor, and a concern heading into Week 1. Brown will probably be held out of this weekend's regular season dress rehearsal.
