ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Terrell Suggs' "upper arm injury" is a torn biceps.

Schefter adds that Suggs is expected to miss some time, but it is not believed to be a season-ending injury at this point. Suggs tweeted on Monday that he is going to get a second opinion on the injury, so we should know more by Tuesday or Wednesday. For what it's worth, Dolphins LB Karlos Dansby is currently playing through a torn biceps, so that's the good news. The severity of the tear will determine how much time Suggs misses.

Julio Jones (toe) is not practicing Wednesday.

Jones is battling turf toe. Coach Dan Quinn said Jones will likely play this week, but that's not a given. The Falcons don't necessarily need Jones in order to beat the lowly Rams and 49ers over the next two weeks.

Sammy Watkins (foot) is not practicing Wednesday.

It's not viewed as a setback. According to coach Rex Ryan, Watkins came out of Week 13 feeling better than he did after his Week 12 return. Look for him to return to practice Thursday before playing Sunday.

Robert Woods (knee) returned to a limited practice Wednesday.

He's missed the past two games after spraining his knee in Week 11. Woods' return will be a boost to the offense with the Bills is must-win mode on the outside looking in at the playoffs. This puts Woods on track for Week 14.
Dec 7 - 11:49 AM

Jordan Matthews (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday.

Coach Doug Pederson expects Matthews to play against the Redskins after he missed the Week 13 blowout loss to the Bengals. Matthews will have to avoid setbacks, which he was unable to do last week, but he should be fine.

Ryan Mathews (knee) returned to practice Wednesday.

Jordan Matthews (ankle) also returned. Mathews has missed the previous two games with a sprained MCL, but coach Doug Pederson expects him back this week. The Eagles' rushing offense has provided nothing in those two contests as they've been blown out by double-digits in both games.

ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus reports contract-year WR DeSean Jackson would be "intrigued" by the idea of signing with the Eagles in the offseason.

The Redskins have to be loving all of this talk about one of their players potentially re-joining a division rival as they'e in the thick of the playoff race. But McManus' colleague, Adam Schefter, reported over the weekend that the Eagles are expected to "make a strong push" to bring Jackson back to Philly after he spent his first six years there before being cut by Chip Kelly. Coach Doug Pederson and GM Howie Roseman were in Philly during Jackson's heyday.

According to the Chicago Tribune's Mike Mulligan, John Fox will return for a third season as the Bears' coach in 2017.

After going 6-10 in his first season with Chicago, Fox has guided the Bears to a 3-9 mark through 12 games this year. The loss of OC Adam Gase has been substantial, and the promotion of QBs coach Dowell Loggains hasn't panned out. But according to Mulligan, word is Bears DC Vic Fangio is the one who won't be back. Fangio is probably the Bears' best coach on their entire staff, and the defensive issues have mostly been due to a lack of talent in the secondary and a rash of injuries in the front-seven. Fox is unlikely to turn this thing around in Chicago.
Dec 7 - 10:04 AM

Jason Pierre-Paul will miss 6-8 weeks after undergoing sports-hernia surgery Tuesday morning.

ESPN's Ed Werder reported on Tuesday that JPP's initial diagnosis didn't reveal a sports hernia, but that obviously wasn't the case. Dr. William Meyers performed the operation on Tuesday, and Pierre-Paul is likely out for the remainder of the season unless the Giants make it to the conference championship or Super Bowl. Romeo Okwara and Kerry Wynn will fill in in his absence.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press' Chris Tomasson reports Vikings FS Harrison Smith has a Grade 3 high-ankle sprain and may miss the remainder of the season.

A Grade 3 high-ankle sprain is the worst kind of sprained ankle one can endure. Surgery isn't out of the question, but for now the Vikings are taking it week to week, according to Tomasson. Smith has been battling the ankle issue all season long but keeps aggravating it. He's done so at least three times now and was on crutches after last Thursday night's loss to the Cowboys.

NFL suspended Colts ILB D'Qwell Jackson four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

No word yet on whether Jackson is claiming it was Adderall. The suspension runs through the end of the season. Jackson has not been performing at a high level, but it's a big blow all the same. Jackson is an every-down player for a team with zero depth to speak of. The Colts will have to mix and match as they try to eke out a playoff berth in the soft AFC South. Jackson would be eligible to return for the postseason if the Colts qualify.
Dec 6 - 3:49 PM

Jets waived RB C.J. Spiller and WR Jeremy Ross.

Spiller was briefly on the field for last night's humiliation, but ended up playing only 32 snaps in a little more than a month as a Jet. Now 29, the 2010 first-rounder has been released by three teams this season. His NFL future is looking bleak. It's a shame for a formerly-dynamic playmaker who could never quite get over the hump.
