Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Colts in 2011 and appeared in one regular season game this year prior to being waived and subsequently signed to the Dallas practice squad. At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry's family and all of those who knew him and loved him."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Giants officials have been in South Florida since Monday evening, but yet to be allowed to visit Jason Pierre-Paul (hand).

Per Schefter, the G-Men are "waiting patiently," and "hoping he's okay." The fact that JPP's employers have yet to be allowed into his hospital room is an obvious indication his injury is serious. Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, however, he could still begin the year in the G-Men's lineup. avoiding the PUP list. Pierre-Paul's status will continue to be updated throughout the week.

Ex-Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was arrested for drunk driving in late June.

It's McNabb's second such arrest in 18 months. McNabb was previously popped in January 2014, and agreed to spend one day in jail as part of a plea agreement. He might not get off so lightly this time. Going on 39, McNabb's last NFL snap came in 2011 as a member of the Vikings. His post-career exploits haven't done his reputation any favors.

Coach Sean Payton said he thinks Nick Toon's snaps will go "way up" this season.

Toon appeared in just eight games last season, averaging 30.1 snaps per day in those. Now Kenny Stills, Jimmy Graham and Robert Meachem are all gone and Toon is penciled in as the primary "Z," a role that will get him on the field in all three-wide sets alongside focal point Brandin Cooks and slot man Marques Colston. Toon has the tools to excel with this opportunity, making Kenny Stills' 32-641-5 line from 2013 a real possibility.

Unsigned franchise player Demaryius Thomas reportedly wants Calvin Johnson money in his next contract.

Back in 2012, Johnson signed a massive eight-year, $150.5 million contract that included a $16 million signing bonus as part of $60 million guaranteed. It still stands as the benchmark for wideouts by a wide margin, status Thomas deserves after going over 1,400 yards and 10 touchdowns in three straight seasons while never missing a game. If a long-term deal doesn't get done by July 15, Thomas will play out the 2015 season on a $12.823 million franchise tender.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jason Pierre-Paul (hand) "could" miss training camp and the start of the season.

This is an extremely loose report, as the Giants are still "awaiting more medical info" after Pierre-Paul almost blew off his hand in a weekend fireworks incident. We'll continuously update this story with it being the only semi-headline-worthy news piece of the month. JPP's believed to have suffered nerve damage.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Giants pulled a long-term offer to unsigned franchise player Jason Pierre-Paul after he injured his hand in a weekend fireworks accident.

Per Rapsheet, the G-Men "do not believe a long-term offer is in the best interest of those involved at this point." JPP is expected to be okay, but the extent of the damage remains unclear. He appears to be dealing with nerve damage and burns. Pierre-Paul's franchise tag will earn him a cool $14.8 million this season.

Seahawks UDFA RB Thomas Rawls has emerged as the rookie the coaches love.

Per ESPN, coach Pete Carroll "loves Rawls’ toughness, seeing him as a bruising runner similar to (Marshawn) Lynch." It's the same things we saw on Rawls as he ran extremely physical, aggressive and angry at Central Michigan. There's speculation he could push Christine Michael off the roster in Seattle, meaning he needs to be on deeper Dynasty benches. Lynch is 29 years old and Robert Turbin is ticketed for 2016 free agency.

A source tells the New York Post Jason Pierre-Paul suffered "significant burns on his palm and several fingers, and one finger may have sustained nerve damage."

The injuries are a result of a Saturday night fireworks incident at his South Florida home. Pierre-Paul's career is not threatened, but his availability for the start of the season could be -- especially if the nerve damage limits his hand usage. It's terrible timing for JPP, who hasn't yet signed his $14.8 million franchise tender for the 2015 season. If the Giants rescind the tender, he would become an unrestricted free agent.

The Denver Post's Troy Renck anticipates Montee Ball mixing in for "seven to eight" carries per game behind C.J. Anderson.

Renck has Anderson ticketed for 18 carries a game. Before flopping last year following a preseason appendectomy, Ball averaged 4.66 yards per carry as a change-of-pace back behind Knowshon Moreno as a rookie in 2013. Ball's career YPC average currently stands at 4.18. Ball has been a fantasy disappointment through two NFL seasons, but he can be effective in a complementary role. He'll also offer handcuff appeal behind Anderson.

According to Raiders OL coach Mike Tice, Trent Richardson shed weight this offseason, which helped some of his quickness to return.

We've been pining for T-Rich to shed weight for years. It sounds like he's finally done so, and according to Tice it showed during the offseason program. "I thought the young man out of Alabama came on," said Tice. "He lost some weight, his quickness came around." Richardson is battling Roy Helu and Latavius Murray for snaps in Oakland's backfield. In all likelihood, Murray will be the Week 1 starter with Helu playing on passing downs.

ESPN Seahawks reporter Terry Blount believes Christine Michael is on the roster bubble.

Blount suggests Michael could lose his roster spot to impressive UDFA Thomas Rawls, a physical runner who caught the coaching staff's attention at spring practices. The 62nd overall pick in the 2013 draft, Michael has special physical attributes and a 4.88 career YPC average, but has earned just 52 carries through two seasons and has never seemed to earn the coaches' trust. Still only 24 years old, Michael would certainly generate interest on waivers. The Seahawks might be able to get a late-round pick for him if he's made available for trade.
