Delone Carter (ankle) will not play in Sunday's game against the Texans.

The Colts are locked into the AFC's No. 5 seed, so there's no reason for Carter to push it. He's aiming to return as the short-yardage pounder for the playoff opener.

Randall Cobb (chest) was practicing again on Tuesday.

Cobb will likely be "limited," but is trending in the right direction for Thursday Night Football after he didn't practice in Week 3. With his health a question mark, Cobb will be a WR3 if he does indeed suit up against the Bears.

Eagles OC Frank Reich says there's "no doubt" Wendell Smallwood will be in for an increased role in Darren Sproles' absence.

Reich is just confirming the obvious, but it's good to hear it from the horse's mouth. Smallwood soundly out-snapped LeGarrette Blount against the Giants, and out-touched him, too. Blount should take the lead on early downs for the time being, but Smallwood is shaping up as the preferred fantasy own/play. He will monopolize third downs and mix in between the tackles.

Chiefs placed K Cairo Santos on injured reserve.

Harrison Butker was signed off the Panthers' practice squad as a replacement. It is not clear what injury Santos is dealing with, but he missed time in training camp with a groin issue. It is possible he is brought back later in the season.

John Brown (quad) worked out before the Cardinals' game on Monday night.

Brown was not able to practice at all last week, so this is at least a step in the correct direction. That said, there does not seem to be much hope for a quick return, and Brown has struggled to stay healthy over the last year. He is nothing more than a hopeful bench stash for fantasy.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports there is "no end in sight" for Texans LT Duane Brown's holdout.

Brown will have to show up around Week 8 to make sure his contract does not toll, but it does not look like he is planning to end his holdout before then. The Texans also are not interested in playing ball and have not had any negotiations with the left tackle since the holdout began. At this point, a trade may be the best outcome for both sides.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said he is not going to give Chris Thompson more touches.

"He's going to keep pushing me for them, but he's not going to get them," Gruden said. The back is averaging a ridiculous 13 yards per touch so far this season, but the coach wants to make sure Thompson, who has a long injury history, stays on the field for 16 games. That said, it will be impossible to keep him out of the lineup if he continues to produce like he has the first three weeks.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Rob Kelley (ribs) will still be the team's "No. 1 lead dog" when healthy.

Kelley surprisingly sat out Sunday night's matchup with the Raiders, a game Chris Thompson dominated as he has all season. Still, Washington seemingly does not want to use Thompson as more than a complementary back, meaning Kelley should lead the backfield in touches when he is healthy. Kelley is expected to participate when Washington opens their practice week on Thursday.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he does not plan to scale back Kareem Hunt's workload.

The rookie is on pace for almost 300 touches, but his coach is not concerned about him hitting the wall. "No, I think we’re okay with how we’re using him," Reid said. "I just go off of the feel I have and the experience, we’ll be all right there." Perhaps the usage wears him down as the season goes on, but right now Hunt is as good as they come at running back. He will be an elite play in a great matchup against Washington on Monday night.

Coach Adam Gase said he is fed up with the Dolphins' "garbage" offense.

"A lot of bad football. More mental errors than we've had the last two years," Gase said. "I'll find the guys that want to do it right, and those are the guys that will play." Similarly fed up with his team after a bad start last season, Gase cut three offensive linemen on the same day, so it is possible a big shakeup is on the way. That said, none of it will matter if Jay Cutler does not play better than he did on Sunday.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Cutler has a great get-right spot at home vs. the Saints. They’re allowing QBs the 2nd-highest completion rate (73.1%), 3rd-most yards per game (311), and the most YPA (9.4). Not surprisingly, FO ranks them dead last in pass DVOA. Cam Newton couldn’t do much against them, but he was without his top two receivers and doesn’t appear fully healthy. If CB Marshon Lattimore is inactive again, it’ll be an even better spot for Cutler and DeVante Parker.

Melvin Gordon said his injured knee is "good."

Gordon is reportedly dealing with a "minor" bone bruise in the same knee which required microfracture surgery after his rookie year. That is at least slightly concerning, but neither the player nor his coach appears to be worried. "He’s sore," Anthony Lynn said. "He was sore last week. We’ll monitor him this week, but I’m sure he’ll be fine." As long as he is active, Gordon will be a locked-in RB1 against the Eagles.

Kerwynn Williams played just 1-of-81 offensive snaps in the Cardinals' Week 3 loss to the Cowboys.

He rushed the ball for three yards on his one carry. Williams started Week 2 against the Colts in the aftermath of the David Johnson (wrist) injury, but he was awful against Indianapolis and was relegated to return-man duties in this one. Even Elijhaa Penny played more snaps (two) than Williams. Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington are the top two backs in the desert. Williams can safely be dropped in all formats. He was a complete waste of early-season FAAB.
