Matt Forte rushed 24 times for 103 yards and a touchdown in Chicago's Week 17 win over the Lions.

He added two catches for 21 yards as the Bears kept their playoff hopes alive. Forte was just seven days removed from his third ankle tweak of 2012, but you would have never guessed it from his game. His jump-cuts were as crisp and effective as they've been all year, while the 100-yard game on the ground was his first since Week 9. Forte might be being propped up by painkillers, but his health won't be a concern if the Bears squeak into the postseason. He'll finish the season with 1,094 yards rushing, 1,434 yards from scrimmage and six total touchdowns. Both the rushing yards and touchdowns are improvements on Forte's injury-shortened 2011. Although his durability is becoming an increasingly bigger question mark, Forte will remain on the first- and second-round radar next summer.

The Athletic's Dan Duggan reports Paul Perkins' pectoral injury required surgery.

Perkins suffered the injury working out on his own before the offseason program. He was spotted with his left arm in a sling at minicamp. Surgery suggests he suffered a tear, meaning he could be sidelined months. Especially with the Giants expected to draft a running back early, perhaps even with the No. 2 overall pick, Perkins is looking unlikely to earn a meaningful role this season.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Saints "have made plenty of calls about making a big leap up from pick No. 27."

Presumably, New Orleans would only make the move if a quarterback they covet falls. They were linked heavily to Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield early in the process, but he may end up being the No. 1 overall pick and looks certain to come off the board in the top-ten. UCLA's Josh Rosen could end up slipping, however, and would be a good fit in New Orleans. 39-year-old Drew Brees is under contract through 2019.

Odell Beckham (ankle) participated in individual drills on Thursday.

Still recovering from an ankle injury, Beckham is not practicing this week, but participating in individual drills suggests he is close to full health. The Giants will likely take it slow with their star receiver, but it looks like he will be healthy enough to participate in OTAs.

Bucs re-signed Charles Sims to a one-year contract.

Sims received nary a whisper of interest on the open market, so he will return to Tampa on what is likely a minimum, prove-it deal. A third-round pick in 2014, Sims had a promising sophomore season, but he seems to have topped out as a complementary option. Re-signing Sims should not stop the Bucs from taking a running back early in the draft.

TMZ reports Raiders CB Gareon Conley is being sued by the woman who accused him of sexual assault last year.

The woman accused Conley of raping her at a hotel in Ohio last April. Conley was never arrested or charged with a crime and adamantly denies he did anything wrong. The woman claims she "sustained serious physical, psychological, emotional and mental injuries" as a result of the alleged incident.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports there is "mounting belief" among league executives and coaches the Browns will select Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reported on Wednesday the Browns were down to Mayfield or Wyoming QB Josh Allen, and it sounds like they are leaning Mayfield. Of course, there is no reason for the Browns to tell the truth, and it seems like GM John Dorsey is keeping everyone else out of the loop. Thankfully, all the rumors end and smokescreens dissipate tonight.

Offensive tweets sent by Wyoming QB Josh Allen when he was in high school were uncovered by Yahoo Sports.

The tweets, all from 2012 and 2013, include use of the "N" word, and he responded to an AskFM question by saying, "If it ain't white, it ain't right." Allen has since apologized for the tweets, telling ESPN he was young and dumb when he sent them. Allen is in play to be the No. 1 overall pick on Thursday night.

On Wednesday's GM Street podcast, The Ringer's Mike Lombardi reported the Broncos are "in love" with Ohio State CB Denzel Ward.

The Broncos previously hit on an Ohio State corner in Bradley Roby, and their loss of Aqib Talib has increased Denver's cornerback need. Ward is a man-coverage corner and ran 4.32 at the Combine. He is a sleeper to be the Broncos' pick at No. 5, or go to Denver if GM John Elway trades a few slots down the board.

Sam Darnold went No. 1 to the Browns in NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock's 2018 Mock Draft.

Mayock has the highest Mock Draft accuracy score among all "big media" draft analysts over the last five years. Mayock releases just one mock each draft season, and this year's came out Wednesday night. Mayock has the Giants taking Saquon Barkley at No. 2, the Jets taking Baker Mayfield at 3, the Browns taking Bradley Chubb at 4, and the Broncos grabbing Quenton Nelson at No. 5. Mayock then has the Bills trading up to draft Josh Allen at No. 6.

According to The Ringer's Mike Lombardi, NFL teams have concerns Georgia RB Sony Michel has a bone-on-bone condition in his knee.

It can be a career-shortening condition and contributed to Jay Ajayi's fall in the 2015 draft. NFL Network's Mike Mayock has also alluded to medical concerns surrounding Michel, but still sent Michel to the Steelers in the first round in his mock draft on Thursday night. Lombardi said teams have concerns Michel won't last long enough to play out a second contract.

The attorney for the girlfriend of Reuben Foster, who accused Foster of domestic violence in February, is now saying Foster never injured her.

The woman says she fabricated the allegation, and pictures used as evidence against Foster actually came from another fight, with a woman. "(Foster) did not strike her, injure her or threaten her," said the woman's attorney. This is a huge break for the 49ers, and slightly lessens their linebacker need before the draft. Foster was one of the NFL's highest-impact rookies last year.
