Tony Gonzalez told reporters after Sunday's NFC Championship Game loss that he's "probably" going to retire this offseason.

"It’s probably the last time I’m going to wear that uniform," said a choked-up Gonzalez. "I didn’t want to take it off, to tell you the truth. All good things come to an end and, like I said all season long, this is probably my last one. What an unbelievable ride." When pressed, Gonzalez said his mind is "pretty much" made up. Selfishly, we are hoping he reconsiders. Gonzalez is still a top-five receiving tight end in the National Football League.

Steven Jackson (quad) is not expected to play in Sunday's Week 17 game against the Panthers.

At age 31, Jackson wasn't going to recover from a pulled quad muscle in seven days. So the Falcons will roll into their showdown for the NFC South with a committee of Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers at running back. Practice squad callup Jerome Smith will be the No. 3 back. Note that following S-Jax's injury last week, Rodgers played 25 snaps compared to 18 for Freeman. Quizz will handle more of the third-down work and pass game duties, while the rookie handles more base work. We far prefer Freeman as the plug-n-play -- he's more versatile and a better inside runner.

A.J. Green (arm) is not practicing Wednesday.

No surprise. Green will likely miss most of the practice week, but the Bengals have expressed optimism regarding Green's ability to play Week 17 vs. Pittsburgh.
Dec 24 - 1:17 PM

T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) is practicing again Wednesday.

After not practicing at all last week and then watching the Colts offense fall flat at Dallas, Hilton has now practiced two straight days. He's on track to start at Tennessee Sunday. The bigger question is how motivated the Colts will be, as they're essentially locked into the AFC's No. 4 seed. For what it's worth, coach Chuck Pagano has said all his starters will play as he wants to offense to get some confidence back before the Wild Card round. Hilton is shaping up as a strong fantasy play.

The Broncos have placed the most players on the initial Pro Bowl roster, with nine players tabbed to go to Hawaii.

Although he's in the midst of a season-ending slump, Peyton Manning leads the way. It's Manning's 14th selection, extending a record he already held. Perhaps the most notable Pro Bowl "snub" is rookie sensation Odell Beckham, though as a first alternate, he'll undoubtedly find his way to the all-star game. The Pro Bowl is again going with a "captains" format, with Cris Carter and Michael Irvin choosing teams.

Vikings waived RB Ben Tate.

Tate made it all of five games in Minnesota, touching the ball in only three of them. Tate closes the book on his Vikings career with 13 carries for 38 scoreless yards (2.92 YPC). For the season, Tate's YPC sits at a dreadful 3.11. Although Tate is only 26, he's looked used up. Tate has a long history of minor injuries. According to ESPN's Field Yates, both the Colts and Cardinals tried to claim Tate in November. It's possible they'll try to do so again ahead of the playoffs, but we wouldn't be surprised if Tate passes through the wire unclaimed.
Dec 23 - 5:50 PM

Falcons placed SS William Moore on injured reserve with a right-shoulder injury, ending his season.

S Sean Baker has been promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. The move ends an injury-plagued and ineffective season for the sixth-year pro Moore, as he was limited to 327 snaps by shoulder issues. Moore spent Weeks 5-12 stashed away on injured reserve/designated to return. Although he's going on 30, Moore is signed through 2017. He'll be back as a starter next season, though he could need surgery. Kemal Ishmael will start Sunday's winner-take-all tilt against the Panthers.
Dec 23 - 4:45 PM

Kyle Orton will remain the Bills' starter for Sunday's finale against the Patriots.

There was a school of thought that the Bills might give E.J. Manuel a looksee after they were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 16, but that won't be the case. Coach Doug Marrone believes Orton still gives Buffalo its best chance to win. Orton has regressed sharply as the year has worn on, and isn't a viable option for 2015. The Bills have an up-and-coming roster, but quarterback is a massive issue heading into the offseason.
Dec 23 - 4:23 PM

A.J. Green (arm) has avoided structural damage, and was dealing with only "swelling" on Tuesday.

Appearing on ESPN's NFL Insiders, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Green had already regained his strength by last evening. Green took a first-quarter hit against the Broncos, eventually checking out for the night in the third. It sounds like Green will suit up for Sunday's AFC North title game against the Steelers, but his status can't be taken for granted.
Dec 23 - 4:10 PM

The Jets expect Percy Harvin (ribs) to miss Week 17.

Harvin missed Tuesday's practice. Per coach Rex Ryan, Harvin "can't do a whole lot." Missing Sunday's finale would mean Harvin heads into the offseason sporting just a 51/483/1 line as a receiver through 13 2014 games. He's added a 33/202/1 slash as a runner, but it's not exactly production befitting of Harvin's $10.5 million 2015 base salary. With GM John Idzik's job in danger, it's possible his replacement will be inclined to move on from Harvin.
Dec 23 - 3:06 PM

Brian Hoyer (biceps, shoulder) is sitting out Tuesday's practice, and highly uncertain for Sunday's finale.

"I don't know if (Hoyer) can get to 100 percent," were the words of coach Mike Pettine on Tuesday. "We don't know where we are at the quarterback position." Johnny Manziel (hamstring) has already been ruled out, leaving all of Tuesday's first-team reps to Connor Shaw. The undrafted rookie out of South Carolina will almost certainly start Sunday's game.
Dec 23 - 1:48 PM

Aaron Rodgers (calf) participated in Tuesday's practice.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Silverstein, Rodgers wasn't going "full speed," but he's very much on track to suit up for Sunday's NFC North championship game against the Lions. With the Pack playing for a first-round bye, Rodgers can be trusted in DFS leagues.
