Raiders hired former Jets OC Tony Sparano as offensive line coach.

The former Dolphins head man will also serve as Dennis Allen's assistant head coach. Sparano was out of his depth as the Jets' play-caller, but has always been viewed as a solid line coach, and adds credibility to neophyte Allen's reshuffled staff. It's doubtful Sparano is ever called on again to lead a team or offense, but he should be able to coach linemen as long as his heart desires. He is also a power-blocking proponent and will help Oakland's transition away from former OC Greg Knapp's zone-run scheme, which was a colossal failure.

Odell Beckham (hamstring) participated in on-field practice Tuesday for the first time since Aug. 21.

Panthers placed RB Mike Tolbert (leg) on injured reserve with a designation to return.

It means Tolbert is out until at least Week 13, and leaves the Panthers very thin at running back. DeAngelo Williams (hamstring) is on track to play in Week 4, but Jonathan Stewart (knee) is out and Fozzy Whittaker (quad) is in doubt. If DeAngelo can suit up anywhere near 100 percent, he'll be a good bet for 15-20 touches against the Ravens in Week 4. He'll also get more goal-line chances with Tolbert out and Cam Newton (ribs) hesitant to run.

Steelers signed OLB James Harrison.

Harrison, 36, is just a couple months removed from a retirement ceremony held at the Steelers facility. Now he's back there as a player due to desperation. The Steelers lost both OLB Jarvis Jones (wrist) and ILB Ryan Shazier (knee) on Sunday night, thinning out an already weak defense. Harrison, however, won't be able to help much as the former All-Pro has nothing left in the tank.

Eric Decker (hamstring) said he pulled himself out of Monday night's loss to the Bears because of a "tight feeling that wouldn't loosen up."

Decker says he did not suffer a setback on Monday night. "It was to the point where it wasn't loosening up, and instead of doing something stupid and really hurting something down the road I decided to pull myself and give myself a chance," he said. In other words, Decker's hamstring did not get worse by playing 14 snaps Monday. He'll likely be a game-time decision again for Week 4 against the Lions.

Arian Foster's latest hamstring injury is to the same one that bothered him during the preseason.

Foster missed the first two weeks of camp way back in late-July due to this hamstring. After racking up 59 touches in the first two weeks, he had to sit out the Week 3 loss to the Giants. "As soon as I feel 100 percent, I'll be out there," he said. "It's my hamstring's call." Recurring or chronic soft-tissue issues are always scary, even if this latest strain is considered minor. Alfred Blue is shaping up as a must-own for the foreseeable future.

The Ravens are expected to use a committee to replace Dennis Pitta's production in the lineup.

Losing Pitta for the year is a major blow to a Gary Kubiak offense that features the tight end. He had 16 catches on 21 targets through three weeks. "We're going to play our good players," coach John Harbaugh said. "So, who's on the field is going to depend on who are good players are and how the coaches decide to attack." The new starting tight end will be Owen Daniels, but he can't separate at age 31 and is a poor bet to sustain health. Versatile fullback Kyle Juszczyk, who led the Ravens in catches in the preseason, will also get more involved. And Kubiak may be forced to run more three-wide sets that bring Marlon Brown into play. Consider Daniels, whose best trait is knowing the offense like the back of his hand, a low-ceiling add.

Jay Cutler completed 23-of-38 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' Week 3, 27-19 win over the Jets on Monday night.

Cutler and the Bears started off hot, going up 17-3 through 16 minutes of play. But after losing Brandon Marshall to a re-injured ankle, the Jets were able to dial up plenty of blitzes and get to Cutler for four sacks and a number of other hits. Marshall later returned but wasn't near 100 percent and caught just one pass for six yards on the night. Cutler found Martellus Bennett for both touchdowns, and hooked up with Alshon Jeffery eight times for 105 yards. Cutler will be a mid-range QB1 next week when the Bears host the Packers.

Eric Decker exited Monday night's game against the Bears after aggravating his hamstring injury and will not return.

Decker was noticeably still battling the pulled hammy and playing sparingly throughout the first half. He caught his lone target for 19 yards before heading to the sideline. Consider Decker highly questionable for Week 4 vs. the Lions.

Brandon Marshall aggravated his right ankle injury in the second quarter of Monday night's game against the Jets but later returned to start the second half.

Marshall hurt his ankle while blocking. He limped off the field under his own power before making his way to the locker room. Prior to exiting, Marshall had zero catches on three targets. He missed about seven minutes of game time.

Coach Mike McCarthy called out Eddie Lacy at Monday's press conference, and said Lacy "needs to play better."

"I’m not going to do this anymore. I don’t correct individuals in the media. We’ve seen the film, corrections have been made, our running game wasn’t nearly what it needed to be. Not even close," McCarthy said. Lacy has managed just 113 yards and zero touchdowns on 36 carries through three games. He also took a safety and lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown on Sunday. To his defense, Lacy has faced the Seahawks, Jets, and Lions through three games. That's tough sledding. He needs to turn it around against the Bears in Week 4.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said Bishop Sankey's reps won't increase until he improves his footwork.

Sankey dusted off 61 yards on ten carries and was the Titans' most dangerous player in Sunday's loss to the Bengals, but Whisenhunt is still obsessed with his footwork. "If he can get the attention to detail better, his reps will increase," stated Whisenhunt. As @StopTheVetoing suggested on Twitter, "Maybe they should have drafted Fred Astaire." The 54th overall pick in May's draft, Sankey has 89 yards on 18 carries (4.94 YPC) through three games. He's rotating with Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster.
