Utah DT Star Lotulelei will not work out at the Combine after his medical evaluation revealed a heart condition.

Per ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Lotulelei's left ventricle is pumping at 44 percent efficiency, with the normal range being 55-70 percent. He will undergo further testing in Utah. It's a massive blow for a potential top-five pick. Lotulelei was a workhorse for the Utes, but this will raise questions about his durability, even if the issues prove minor. For now, Lotulelei's rep is claiming his client will participate in every drill at Utah's March 20 Pro Day.

Eric Decker was downgraded from "limited" to "DNP" on Thursday after feeling renewed tightness in his hamstring.

This is getting ridiculous. It's gotten to the point where the Jets simply have to let Decker rest, but with their season on the brink at 1-3, they're still "hopeful" he can give it a go against the Chargers. "Even in a limited role, you want your best players out there," were the words of coach Rex Ryan on Thursday. If Decker does indeed suit up, he'll be a high-risk WR3 in danger of another aggravation. The situation couldn't have unfolded much worse for owners who thought they were getting a mid-round, WR2 steal in the former Bronco.

Speaking Thursday, Arian Foster remained noncommittal on his Week 5 status.

The Texans have yet to announce Foster's Thursday practice status after he sat out on Wednesday. "I’m just going to go out there everyday and see how it feels," Foster said. "If it feels good enough to play, I’ll suit up." Foster is trending toward his third straight game-time decision, and shaping up as a shaky RB2 even against the Cowboys' soft defense. Foster was nowhere near 100 percent in last week's win over the Bills, and could need a week on the bench.

Coach Mike Pettine confirmed that Ben Tate (knee) remains on course to play and start Sunday's game against the Titans.

Tate remained limited in Thursday's practice, but he's likely to see 12-17 touches against an undersized and soft Titans front. Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West will be competing for the rest of the work. When asked about dividing reps between three running backs, Pettine said, "It's not an easy problem. It is an issue. You have to have a plan for it, be willing to adjust." Tate is the best bet here as the starter, but he's going to have to play well in this hot-hand backfield.

Chiefs WR Donnie Avery needs sports hernia surgery.

Avery is going to Philadelphia, presumably to be operated on by sports hernia specialist Dr. William Meyers. Recovery timetables for this procedure can range anywhere from 2-8 weeks. Avery, the Chiefs' second-most targeted player, had 14 catches for 156 yards and no touchdowns through the first four games. Look for A.J. Jenkins and Frankie Hammond to fill in on the outside.

Joique Bell (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol.

Bell was in the locker room with his teammates Thursday, a sign he's made some progress. He remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills. If Bell can't go, Reggie Bush would get a bump as he'd only be complemented by Theo Riddick and George Winn.

The Vikings plan to take the Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) decision right up until 90 minutes before Thursday's kickoff.

"Teddy Bridgewater still wants to play," but the Vikings want "to make sure it limits danger," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Teddy is fighting a garden-variety ankle sprain sustained just four days ago. If there's any danger of making it worse at all, the Vikings should play it safe with the new face of their franchise. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier signs point to Bridgewater sitting out this difficult spot at Lambeau.

The 2015 NFL draft will be held from April 30-May 2.

The 2014 draft didn't begin until May 8, drawing complaints from fans, media and teams. So the 2015 version is up a week, and will be held in either Los Angeles or Chicago instead of its usual Radio City Music Hall location. All the NCAA prospects can be tracked in our NFL Draft section.

A source told the Boston Globe that Aaron Dobson was deactivated in Weeks 3 and 4 because he "mouthed off" to Patriots OC Josh McDaniels.

"Mouthing off" to Belichick wannabe McDaniels apparently costs you two full games, despite the Patriots' glaring needs at perimeter wide receiver. 23 years old, big, and fast, Dobson would give New England an offensive element it sorely lacks, but it sounds like McDaniels is putting his ego before the team. Dobson's status going forward is unclear. He's just a WR5 stash in 12-team leagues.

NFL suspended Panthers DE Frank Alexander 10 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Alexander just returned Monday from a four-game suspension for violating the same policy. He's now out for the next 10 games, and can't return until Week 16. What a boneheaded mistake. Carolina will continue to move forward with Charles Johnson, Kony Ealy, Mario Addison, and Wes Horton as its four-man rotation at end. Alexander's rookie deal ends following the 2015 season.

Arian Foster (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.

Foster is likely going to miss plenty of practice reps this week before being a game-time decision against the Cowboys on Sunday. Foster said he wasn't 100 percent in Week 4, and coach Bill O'Brien later called his running back day-to-day. If Foster can't play, Alfred Blue would likely get the start for Houston.
Oct 1 - 4:38 PM

Marvin Jones tweaked his ankle on Wednesday and was listed as "DNP."

Jones can't catch a break. After missing all of the offseason program with an ankle injury, Jones returned to training camp for all of one practice before breaking his foot. In his first official practice back from the broken foot on Wednesday, Jones hurts his ankle. He was initially expected to make his season debut this week against New England, but now Jones' status is up in the air.
