A league source tells the Denver Post the Broncos will pursue free agent Dwight Freeney if they can't get RE Elvis Dumervil to take a pay-cut.

Per beat writer Mike Klis, the Broncos believe they'd be better off paying Freeney $5 million instead of Dumervil's currently scheduled $12 million. Dumervil is the more productive player at this stage of their careers, but is grossly overpaid. A return to a 4-3 defense could also help Freeney rebound from a rough 2012. This won't be the last we hear of Freeney potentially reuniting with Peyton Manning.

Josh Doctson caught 3-of-5 targets for 39 yards in the Redskins' Week 7 loss to the Eagles.

Doctson got the start at the X receiver spot and played a career-high 54-of-64 (84.4%) snaps and seems to have passed mega-disappointment Terrelle Pryor on the depth chart. Pryor played just 30 snaps, while Jamison Crowder led the team with 58. Doctson didn't do a whole lot with his playing time, but coach Jay Gruden apparently wants to see more now that he's healthy. "We drafted Josh to be the No. 1 guy," Gruden said. "He just has had some injuries. Now that he's healthy, we want to see what he can do." Doctson is worth adding in all formats ahead of a home date against the Cowboys in Week 8. The sky is the limit for Doctson in this pass-happy offense.

Terrelle Pryor caught 2-of-4 targets for 14 yards in the Redskins' Week 7 loss to the Eagles.

The Redskins opened the night with Josh Doctson as the starting X receiver, which is a new wrinkle after Pryor had started the first five games there and previously led all Redskins receivers in snaps. It was a different story Monday night. Doctson played 54-of-64 snaps, while Pryor played 30 and rarely saw the field in the first half. All four of his targets came after the half, and Pryor dropped the two that he didn't catch. After the game, coach Jay Gruden said now that Doctson is healthy. "We drafted Josh to be the No. 1 guy," Gruden said. "He just has had some injuries. Now that he's healthy, we want to see what he can do." Pryor has been a colossal free-agent bust and early-round fantasy pick. He'll be nothing more than bench fodder next week against the Cowboys.

Zach Ertz caught all five of his targets for 89 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles' Week 7 win over the Redskins.

Through seven weeks, Ertz leads all tight ends in targets, catches (39), yards (494), and touchdowns (5), and the five scores matches his career-high that Ertz set as a 2013 rookie. Once appearing allergic to the end zone, Ertz has developed into one of Carson Wentz's favorite targets in the scoring area this season. His score Monday night came from four yards away on a simple flat route. Ertz gets a tough date with the 49ers in Week 8 but is locked in as an elite TE1.
Oct 23 - 11:55 PM

Jordan Reed caught 8-of-10 targets for 64 yards and two touchdowns in the Redskins' 34-24, Week 7 loss to the Eagles on Monday night.

The two scores were Reed's first visits to pay dirt this season. The Eagles are normally very stingy against tight ends, but stud coverage MLB Jordan Hicks injured his ankle and had to be carted off on the second play of the game. Reed and Vernon Davis combined for 131 yards and the two Reed scores on 12 catches. Reed's first touchdown came on a short five-yard slant at the goal line, and the second was on another slant from 12 yards out. Looking as healthy as he has all year, Reed will look to build on this one in a home date with the Cowboys in Week 8.

Carson Wentz completed 17-of-25 passes for 268 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in the Eagles' 34-24, Week 7 win over the Redskins on Monday night.

Wentz now leads the league with 17 passing touchdowns, two more than Tom Brady, Alex Smith, and Deshaun Watson. After not having a single three-touchdown passing game in his first 20 career starts, Wentz has accomplished the feat in back-to-back-to-back weeks, with 11 touchdown passes total in that span. He's put himself squarely in the MVP conversation as the quarterback on the league's best team. Wentz's night started inauspiciously with an interception on the opening drive, but it was all good from there. His first score was a 64-yard bomb to rookie Mack Hollins, the second a flat route to Zach Ertz near the goal line, the third a short fade to Corey Clement, and the fourth a laser strike to Nelson Agholor. Wentz gets another dream matchup next week at home against a hapless 49ers defense. Wentz is a legit QB1 moving forward.

Eagles LT Jason Peters was carted off Week 7 against the Redskins with a right knee injury.

His knee got hit from the outside and bent inward in a gruesome way. He writhed on the field in pain before trainers had to fit him for an air cast and eventually cart him off the field. It's almost surely a season-ending injury for the 35-year-old. Halapoulivaati Vaitai has replaced Peters at left tackle.

Free agent DE Dwight Freeney is visiting the Seahawks.

Seattle is dripping with pass-rush talent, from Michael Bennett to Frank Clark to Sheldon Richardson and even former Eagles first-round bust Marcus Smith, so this could be more of a look-see and checkup on a veteran. Now 37, Freeney was still productive on limited snaps with the Falcons in 2016.
Oct 23 - 9:16 PM

Eagles MLB Jordan Hicks was carted off Week 7 against the Redskins with an ankle injury.

Hicks came into the game questionable with a calf injury but made the start and was injured on the second play of the game while trying to cover Vernon Davis. He had to be carried off the field and then carted to the locker room. Nigel Bradham slid to middle linebacker with Najee Goode playing WILL.
Oct 23 - 8:44 PM

Wendell Smallwood (knee) is active for Week 7 against the Redskins.

He's back after missing the previous two games. LeGarrette Blount has settled in as the Eagles' lead back on early downs, but this backfield is always open for change. Smallwood can't be trusted as a fantasy starter Monday night, but he should mix in on pass downs. Inactive for the Eagles are LB Mychal Kendricks, CB Ronald Darby, WR Shelton Gibson, DT Justin Hamilton, OG Chance Warmack, DT Elijah Qualls, and DE Steven Means.

NFL suspended Vikings FS Andrew Sendejo one game for violating the league's player safety rules.

Sendejo illegally hit Mike Wallace on Sunday, giving him a concussion. Sendejo was previously fined earlier this season for a big hit on Cameron Brate, so the suspension is next in line after a fine. Sendejo will probably appeal. For now, he's out for Week 8 in London against Cleveland. The Vikings then have a Week 9 bye before coming back stateside for a road date in Washington.

Carson Palmer is hopeful he can return from his broken left arm in 4-6 weeks.

He's going for a second opinion on Monday. Palmer's initial timeline was eight weeks, so 4-6 weeks would be a significant improvement. The injury is to Palmer's left (non-throwing) arm, perhaps giving him a better shot at a sooner-than-expected return. The Cardinals insist they will be riding with Drew Stanton in the meantime. We would humbly suggest they give Blaine Gabbert a longer look.
