Broncos re-signed DT Kevin Vickerson to a two-year contract.

Already thin in the interior of their defensive line, the Broncos made bringing back Vickerson a priority. He's coming off a solid, 40-tackle, two-sack campaign as a starter next to Justin Bannan. Ideally, the Broncos would reduce Vickerson's 2013 snaps. They're looking into acquiring Terrance Knighton.

Titans TE Craig Stevens is retiring after eight years in the league.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden has "total expectation" Josh Doctson (Achilles') will be ready for Week 1.

"He did the route tree today, which is very positive," Gruden said Tuesday. "I have total expectation that he’s going to be ready Week 1, possibly the fourth preseason game, but we’ll still see. Like I said, it’s a new injury to me." Gruden also refused to rule out the reserve/PUP list in the same press conference, but it seems like coachspeak in the full context of his comments. The Redskins open the season 20 days from today.

Joe Flacco (knee) will play in Saturday's preseason game against the Lions.

In the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL, Flacco sat out Baltimore's first two exhibition tilts. "You need to get back out there (and) you need to get your mind used to getting ready for a game," Flacco said. "And then, yeah, I need to get over that last hurdle, which is going out there and being a live target for guys to hit and see how I react to it." It's important for the entire offense, as the third preseason game serves as a team's "regular season dress rehearsal," so to speak. Flacco has said his knee still isn't 100 percent, but he hasn't missed a rep this summer.

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. believes Jeremy Hill is "going to have a huge year."

Dehner also said he expects Hill to record more yards from scrimmage than Gio Bernard. Coming off a disappointing sophomore effort, Hill has looked excellent so far this preseason. He is a nice value in the fourth round.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the draft pick Denver traded for Mark Sanchez was a conditional pick.

That means the Broncos will not owe the Eagles anything if they decide to release Sanchez at final cuts. After losing out to Trevor Siemian for the starting job, Sanchez now appears to be competing with rookie Paxton Lynch for his roster spot. The Broncos could also save $3.5 million by releasing Sanchez.

Breshad Perriman (knee) said he has "no doubt" he will be ready for Week 1.

Perriman reportedly "showed little effects" of his knee injury in his return to practice Tuesday. He is unlikely to play in the third preseason game this week, but it would not be surprising if he is cleared for team drills in the near future. Even if he is healthy enough to play Week 1, Perriman is unlikely to have a big role coming off a lost rookie season.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett confirmed Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) will play Thursday.

Adam Schefter reported as much on Monday, but it is nice to get the confirmation. Garrett said the plan is for Zeke to see 8-to-12 touches in his NFL debut. Even with Alfred Morris shining in the preseason, Elliott should open the season as the clear workhorse in Dallas.

Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson said second-rounder Tyler Boyd is the "unquestioned leader in the clubhouse" in the battle for the No. 2 receiver job.

This statement comes just a day after The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. speculated the Bengals plan to ease Boyd into action. The primary takeaway here is this situation remains as fluid as any in the league. If Brandon LaFell (hand) can prove his health and effectiveness, he will likely open the season as the starter opposite A.J. Green with Boyd working from the slot. If LaFell struggles, Boyd should get his shot.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Eric Ebron (ankle) is expected to play Week 1.

Ebron has been sidelined since August 6 with what Caplan called a "pretty decent ankle sprain." Despite the severity of the injury, Caplan reports Ebron has a shot to play in the fourth preseason game, but it seems unlikely the Lions risk him in a throwaway contest. Even with the missed time, Ebron remains one of the most interesting upside-TE2 picks in fantasy drafts.

Patriots DE Jabaal Sheard has a sprained MCL.

Sheard suffered the injury in the first preseason game on August 11. MCL sprains usually carry a two-to-four week timetable, so it is likely he will be ready for the season opener on September 11. With Chandler Jones now in Arizona, Sheard is perhaps the most important asset on the defensive line. The Patriots need him healthy.

Dallas 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher reports Dez Bryant suffered a concussion in Monday's practice.

Fisher reports Dez has already been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Seahawks, but it is unlikely this issue affects his Week 1 status. Coming off two great performances to open the preseason, Bryant is still a prime bounce-back candidate. He remains safe to draft in the first round.
