According to the New York Daily News, the Jets will take a "good, hard look" at West Virginia QB Geno Smith on day two.

The Jaguars could easily make Smith the first selection of the second round, or flip the No. 33 pick to the highest bidder. The Eagles (35) and Cardinals (38) are also possibilites. The Jets pick at No. 39. Smith looked miserable in the draft room Thursday, but should have something to smile about before the sun sets Friday evening. Smith will attend tonight's festivities after initially planning to go home. It's an indication he's been assured he'll come off the board early.

Speaking Tuesday, Titans coach Mike Mularkey said the team's Week 6 timeshare at running back was a "good model."

Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray both played 39 snaps one week after Murray out-snapped Henry 49-11. Henry ran circles around Murray against the Colts, out-touching him 20-16 and out-gaining him 145-87. Mularkey also said Henry has become the team's "go-to" running back in the fourth quarter. Mularkey's comments make it clear there shouldn't be another game where Murray plays 38 more snaps than Henry, but it's going to remain a messy situation, with the veteran likely to continue taking the lead. Henry has been the better player this season. Maybe the Titans' workload delineation will eventually begin to reflect that.

DeMarco Murray is dealing with hamstring tightness, but will be active for Week 7.

One week after dominating snaps, Murray played as many (39) as Derrick Henry against the Colts. Henry both out-touched and out-gained his veteran backfield mate as Murray checked in and out of the game. Murray has been battling hamstring issues since training camp, and is merely the RB18 by total points through the season's first six weeks. He'll be a risk/reward RB2 for Week 7 against the Browns.

Marcus Mariota (hamstring) escaped Monday night's win over the Colts without setbacks.

Mariota's mobility was noticeably limited, but he played better and better as the game wore on. It was an extremely impressive effort by a player who isn't known for staying confined to the pocket. Mariota offers monster upside for Week 7 against the Browns.

Seahawks LG Luke Joeckel is out 4-5 weeks after undergoing knee surgery.

Joeckel underwent an arthroscopic operation during the Seahawks' Week 6 bye. Unsurprisingly, Joeckel has been a liability on Russell Wilson's left side, though the options to replace him are even less appealing. Mark Glowinski is expected to get the first crack, though second-rounder Ethan Pocic is also a possibility. Coach Pete Carroll said both players could play in Week 7.

Raiders designated S Obi Melifonwu (knee surgery) as a return player from injured reserve.

Melifonwu can now resume practicing, and return to game action in Week 9. The No. 56 overall pick of April's draft, Melifonwu will slide in as the Raiders' No. 3 safety behind Karl Joseph and Reggie Nelson.
Oct 17 - 3:28 PM

Panthers C Ryan Kalil (neck) expects to return for Week 7.

Kalil went down in Week 1. His return would be a huge boost for the Panthers' sputtering ground attack.

Eagles RT Lane Johnson has cleared the concussion protocol.

He practiced on Tuesday and is on track to return on Monday against Washington. Johnson getting back on the field is a big boost to Carson Wentz and the entire offense.

Ezekiel Elliott has a hearing in New York Tuesday afternoon regarding his request for a temporary restraining order.

We are as confused about all of this as you, but we think Elliott is pursuing an injunction similar to the one which allowed him to play the first five games, an injunction thrown out last week by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Even though the hearing is on Tuesday, it is unclear if Judge Paul A. Crotty will issue a ruling before Sunday's game against the 49ers. Elliott's outlook remains as clear as mud.
Oct 17 - 12:46 PM

Wendell Smallwood (knee) expects to play Week 7 against the Redskins.

Smallwood has been sidelined two weeks because of a knee injury, but he was able to get in some work in practice Tuesday. We should get a better idea of his status when the Eagles issue their first injury report of the week on Thursday. If he is active, Smallwood will be worth FLEX consideration.
Oct 17 - 12:28 PM

Luke Kuechly (concussion) did not practice Tuesday.

Kuechly was out on the practice field, a positive sign as he works through the protocol, but he did not take part in the session. His status for this week remains completely up in the air.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Kuechly is PFF’s 5th-ranked LB - if he can't play on Sunday, it would provide an upgrade for Bears RB Jordan Howard. Although Howard has only collected one catch over the past two games, he’s been productive on the ground. He was able to rack up 36 carries for 167 yards against the Ravens in Week 6 while playing 67.5% of the snaps - his highest rate of the season. Howard should see plenty of volume again in Week 7 but may be better for half PPR formats like FanDuel now that’s he less active in the passing game. Considering the Bears want to go run-heavy with Trubisky under center and Howard has cornered off the red zone carries, picking up 10 to Tarik Cohen’s 2, his $6.4k salary looks like a solid deal

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said Jameis Winston (throwing shoulder) will not attempt to throw until late in the week.

That is if he does at all. Despite that seemingly ominous outlook, Koetter seemed reasonably optimistic Winston will be ready to face the Bills on Sunday. "The way I understand it, he will be cleared medically to play," Koetter said. "I think it's going to be more of, 'Does Jameis feel like he can play at the level he needs to play at?'" Ryan Fitzpatrick will handle most of the work this week in practice and will start in Buffalo if Winston cannot play.
