Cowboys selected Oklahoma State RB Joseph Randle with the No. 151 overall pick.

Randle (6-foot, 204) was the Cowboys' two-year feature back, rushing 564 times for 3,085 career yards (5.47 YPC) and 40 touchdowns. He added 108 receptions. Despite the stats -- predecessor Keith Toston had them too and went undrafted -- Randle is a stiff, upright, lunging runner who benefited from Mike Gundy's wide-open spread offense. He's also a whiffer in pass pro. Randle ran 4.63 at the Combine with a 1.61 ten-yard split. We don't see him as a future NFL starter, and he's likely to struggle if forced into the lineup. Randle will compete with Phillip Tanner and Lance Dunbar for backup duties in Dallas.

Jordan Matthews (knee) is on the practice field Thursday.

Aside from a Wednesday report saying his injury may be more serious than tendinitis, there has not really been any concern around Matthews' injury despite it forcing him to miss most of the offseason program. He is expected to be limited early in camp, but coach Doug Pederson has said he is not worried about the issue stretching into the season.

Teddy Bridgewater (knee) said he definitely will play again.

When asked if any doctor told him there was a chance he would not play again, Bridgewater replied, "Not at all." The quarterback said he is "taking it one day at a time" and not looking "too far down the road," but everything this offseason has indicated he will return at some point. Still, it will not be a surprise if is stashed on the reserve/PUP to start the season.

ESPN's Dianna Russini reports coaches are "not too concerned about Jordan Reeds's big toe injury."

Russini also said Reed is "expected to be back during (the) preseason." This is great news after Reed was surprisingly put on the active/PUP to list to start training camp. Arguably the most important receiving option for quarterback Kirk Cousins, it's vital for the Redskins passing attack for Reed to be healthy.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team is exploring the possibility of signing Colin Kaepernick.

The coach said he has been talking to the quarterback throughout the summer. Kaepernick has connections both to Harbaugh -- Kaepernick played for his brother in San Francisco -- and offensive assistant Greg Roman, who was his offensive coordinator with the 49ers. The Ravens also need another quarterback with Joe Flacco sidelined with a back injury. This connection makes a lot of sense.

Corey Coleman (hamstring) said he has been cleared to practice.

After missing time during the offseason program with the injury, Coleman expects to be limited early in camp. It is good news the sophomore is ready to go, but hamstring issues have become a problem for the speedster. To that end, Coleman told reporters he will put in more time on his body to help prevent a similar injury in the future.

Cameron Meredith (thumb) is on the field for the first practice of Bears camp.

Injured during OTAs, there was some concern Meredith would be sidelined into camp. He has avoided the PUP list, however, and looks like he is participating in at least a limited capacity. Unless Kevin White takes a massive step forward, Meredith should serve as Chicago's No. 1 receiver this season.

Ryan Tannehill (knee) said he plans to keep using his feet as a weapon.

Coming off a partially torn ACL late last season, Tannehill reportedly moved well during offseason practices despite wearing a brace, and coach Adam Gase has said he looks "normal." Still, it would not be surprising if Tannehill, who has averaged over 200 yards rushing a season throughout his career, ran a little less moving forward. At the helm a limited passing offense, Tannehill is only a factor in two-quarterback formats.

When asked about his knee after his first padded practice in over a year, Cowboys LB Jaylon Smith said it "feels 100 percent."

Veteran Sean Lee also added that Smith "looked great." A lock to be a top-5 pick in the 2016 NFL draft before a bowl-game knee injury and subsequent nerve damage, Smith was drafted in the early 2nd round by the Cowboys as a project player. According to Peter King of the MMQB, Smith's nerve is now 80 percent regenerated, and Jerry Jones said he would use a first-round pick on the linebacker if the draft was today. He will likely remain limited throughout camp, but Smith is on pace to contribute this season.

Patriots RBs coach Ivan Fears is searching for a running back "to play power football."

"We have enough guys we know can play finesse football," Fears said of his depth chart. "Somebody has to play power football for us. We have to find out who is going to do that." Free-agent addition Mike Gillislee would seem like the best candidate to replace LeGarrette Blount in the power role, but it sounds like his position coach has yet to be convinced. Whoever wins the goal-line role will carry immense fantasy upside after Blount rushed for 18 touchdowns last season.

Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal believes second-round rookie DeShone Kizer is a "better bet" than Cody Kessler to win the starting job.

Kessler will get the first reps during training camp, but the competition is wide open with Kessler, Kizer, and even Brock Osweiler "legitimate candidates" according to Ulrich. With quietly a solid talent base on offense, the Browns could surprise this season if they get the quarterback situation figured out.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Travis Kelce can do "everything a wide receiver can do."

Kelce was the Chiefs' most effective receiver last season, and with Jeremy Maclin out of the picture this year, it sounds like he could be leaned on even more heavily in the passing game. "I think every year you will see him probably get a little bit more here and there," Reid said. "We can use him even a little bit more (in the red zone) and just keep staying creative with it." Kelce is only behind Rob Gronkowski among fantasy tight ends.
