Fox 10 Arizona's Mia Garcia reports Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington was arrested Friday on two counts of aggravated assault.

Already suspended for the first four games of 2013 for a substance-abuse violation, Washington has been under investigation by Phoenix Police for allegedly attacking a woman and choking her to the point he has marks on her neck as proof. Before Friday's arrest, police had been searching for Washington for the better part of this week. The Cardinals can no longer realistically count on Washington making an impact during the 2013 NFL season.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Cardinals DC James Bettcher is scheduled to meet with the Giants and Titans about their defensive coordinator vacancies.

Bettcher has not been let go by the Cardinals, but it seems to be a fait accompli after Arizona hired Steve Wilks to be their new head coach. The coordinator since 2015, Bettcher has overseen quality defenses during his time in Arizona. He would be a good hire for either team.

Derek Carr said he wants new coach Jon Gruden "to be tough" on him.

Gruden has said he will "demand more" from his quarterback moving forward, and it sounds like Carr is fine with that. "I hope that he demands of me. I hope he’s hard on me," Carr said. "Let’s go fix problems that I have and let’s do what I need to do to win championships." Carr has plenty of problems to fix coming off a down season, but he has shown in the past he can be a quality quarterback. His willingness to accept criticism and work with Gruden is a good sign he will get back to that level again.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Dez Bryant's behavior on the sidelines "can be a distraction."

In addition to his behavior, Jones questioned Bryant's fit with Dak Prescott and his place on the team. "The chemistry between Dak and Dez is different between Tony (Romo) and Dez. ... It hasn’t hit on all cylinders on how the connection works. It’s a work in progress," Jones said. "And we just have to really get our hands around, when you put all the full body of work together, where that's headed." Owed $12.5 million and coming off one of his least productive seasons, Dez was by no means a lock to return, but these comments make it seem like Dallas is seriously considering a divorce. Of course, Jones also might be trying to soften up Bryant before asking him to take a pay cut, an idea Dez shot down in December. Cutting Bryant would save the Cowboys $8.5 million against the cap but leave them with nothing resembling a No. 1 receiver.

Wyoming QB Josh Allen said he wants "to be the guy that turns around" the Browns.

"The guy that does that is going to be immortalized in Cleveland forever," Allen added. "If I’m fortunate enough to become a Cleveland Brown, you can expect everything from me." This is almost a subtweet of UCLA QB Josh Rosen, who said he would rather "be a lower pick" than play for the "wrong team." A scout reportedly told MMQB's Peter King there is "no way" the Browns pass on Allen, so it is possible the quarterback gets his wish.
Jan 23 - 9:10 AM

MMQB's Peter King expects impending free agent Le'Veon Bell to "go to the highest bidder" and names the Raiders as a team to "watch" for Bell.

King doesn't do much reporting in terms of breaking news anymore, but he still has many connections throughout the league. The new staff in Oakland has been mum when it comes to Marshawn Lynch's future with the team, so Beast Mode could very well be one-and-done for his hometown Raiders. Oakland could use that money to go after a younger stallion like Bell, but he'll have no shortage of suitors should he reach the open market. It's going to be tough for the Steelers to use the franchise tag on Bell again this year since they have very little cap room at the moment. However, creating cap space is a relatively simple task.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Ohio State co-OC Ryan Day is expected to remain in Columbus and won't join the Titans.

New Titans coach Mike Vrabel wants an OC who has ties to Marcus Mariota, and Day was one of those after Day worked at several stops with Chip Kelly, who coached Mariota at Oregon. The Titans will continue their search.

Cowboys hired ex-Seahawks DC Kris Richard as DBs coach and pass-game coordinator.

Richard cut his teeth as a DBs coach before landing the Seahawks' DC gig in 2015. He was let loose earlier this offseason when the Seahawks had a coaching staff purge. It's a step back for Richard, but he should be back in the DC conversation maybe as early as next offseason. In Dallas, he'll be one of DC Rod Marinelli's top assistants and try to shore up a leaky secondary.

Giants hired Vikings OC Pat Shurmur as head coach.

It's a five-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Shurmur's hiring became a foregone conclusion once the Lions and Colts snagged Patriots coordinators Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels respectively. Shurmur did a lousy job during his previous head-coaching stint in Cleveland but rebuilt his reputation with a strong showing in Minnesota. He'll be replacing Ben McAdoo, who was fired midseason after inexplicably benching Eli Manning for Geno Smith. Shurmur is reportedly in favor of keeping Manning, though the Giants are fully expected to select a quarterback in the upcoming draft, perhaps as early as second overall. Former Raiders coach Jack Del Rio should follow Shurmur to New York as the team's defensive coordinator.

Browns hired ex-Steelers OC Todd Haley as offensive coordinator.

It took Haley less than a week to resurface after the Steelers decided to let his contract run out. Haley comes with plenty of NFL experience, but he should have done more with the talent he had in Pittsburgh and the same could probably be said of his previous stint as the offensive coordinator in Arizona. Haley's play-calling was extremely suspect in Pittsburgh's Divisional Round loss to Jacksonville and his messy relationship with Ben Roethlisberger, which eventually led to his ouster, should be taken as a red flag. In Cleveland, Haley will be tasked with getting the most out of whatever quarterback the Browns end up drafting in April.

The Cardinals will interview ex-Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell for their offensive coordinator vacancy on Monday night.

Former Panthers DC Steve Wilks was announced as Arizona's head coach earlier today and is moving quickly to assemble his staff. Wilks is reportedly eyeing Panthers LBs coach Al Holcomb as his defensive coordinator and now it appears Bevell is on the short list of candidates to replace OC Harold Goodwin. Bevell interviewed for a position as Atlanta's QBs coach last week but was passed over in favor of Greg Knapp. He was one of several Seahawks assistants let go at the conclusion of the 2017 campaign.

Dalvin Cook (ACL) said he has resumed jogging.

Cook does not have a timeline to resume football activities, but this update suggests he is right on schedule in his recovery. It is unlikely he gets in any work during OTAs, but he has a shot to be ready for training camp. Cook had 444 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in four games as a rookie.
