Titans signed No. 97 overall pick OLB Zaviar Gooden to a four-year contract.

A top-notch "run and chase" linebacker, Gooden turned in a blazing 4.47 40-yard dash at the Combine. He also posted a 1.53 ten-yard split while ripping off 27 reps on the bench. Gooden turned in a dud of a senior year at Mizzou, but could eventually siphon snaps from WLB Zach Brown. Brown is coming off a mixed rookie season.

The Jets have suspended CB Dimitri Patterson for the remainder of the preseason, but made him eligible for reinstatement on September 1.

In other words, he's not suspended. Patterson likely wouldn't have played in Thursday's finale to begin with. Patterson would have been released were he a less-important player, but the Jets can't afford to shed any bodies at cornerback. What remains unclear is Patterson's status as a starter, but he's more likely than not to be in the Week 1 lineup.

Coach John Fox said Wes Welker is doing "fantastic" in the concussion protocol.

Oftentimes, players with a history of concussions have trouble progressing quickly through the league's protocols. That doesn't appear to be the case with Welker even though this is his third concussion in the last nine months. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says there's a "lot of optimism from the team," essentially confirming that Welker has no intention of retiring and is on track to make a speedy return. We still like Cody Latimer as a late-round stash -- he has more real-life upside than Andre Caldwell and Welker is a poor bet to make it through the season.

The Seahawks and coach Pete Carroll have been "collectively fined" $300,000 for violating the league's offseason non-contact practice rules

The team has also been docked two minicamp practices. According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Seahawks' June 16 OTAs session was "deemed unsuitable under CBA rules." It's hardly a federal offense, but won't help Carroll's reputation as a renegade rules bender.

Rams placed QB Sam Bradford on injured reserve with a torn left ACL, ending his season.

As NFL.com's Albert Breer points out, it means Bradford will have missed 41 of a possible 93 games since his Heisman Trophy-winning season at Oklahoma. In five NFL seasons, he's appeared in more than 10 games just twice. Bradford is due $12.985 million next season, but is highly unlikely to be back in St. Louis at that number. Still only 27 (in November), Bradford has time to turn his career around, but it's looking like a major missed opportunity.

Raiders waived or released WR Juron Criner, QB Trent Edwards, and OG Lucas Nix.

Criner was shining at spring practices, and was even called "far and away" the best receiver at OTAs. It didn't translate when the pads came on. Criner has good size at 6'3/220. But he's never been able to stay healthy. He ended up catching 2-of-4 targets for 22 yards this preseason. Edwards is a journeyman.

Patriots acquired TE Tim Wright and a 2015 fourth-round pick from the Bucs in exchange for LG Logan Mankins.

The Patriots had a bit of a logjam on their interior line, and needed help at "move" tight end. Wright is a natural fit to potentially fill the old Aaron Hernandez role. He's a former college receiver who caught 54 balls for 571 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie last season. This move puts Wright squarely on the fantasy TE2 radar. We don't believe it has anything to do with Rob Gronkowski's availability for Week 1, however, as Gronk and Wright play inherently different positions. Wright is a "flex" tight end, while Gronk plays the "in-line" role. The Pats will move RG Dan Connolly to left guard. Ryan Wendell is at center. Marcus Cannon is the right guard.

Bucs acquired LG Logan Mankins from the Patriots in exchange for TE Tim Wright and a 2015 fourth-round pick.

That's certainly a way for the Bucs to improve their guard play. Mankins, 32, is a six-time Pro Bowl selection and former All-Pro at a position where players tend to age well. He was a top-18 guard at Pro Football Focus last season, grading out as a top-four run blocker. The move is good news for Doug Martin's fantasy stock. Mankins will slide in between LT Anthony Collins and C Evan Dietrich-Smith. Tampa Bay will patch something together at right guard next to RT Demar Dotson. Bucs GM Jason Licht was in New England when Mankins was drafted in 2005.

Updating a previous item, Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (hip) remains on the active/PUP list.

We misinterpreted Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald's tweet earlier on Tuesday. Pouncey was simply in attendance at practice; he's still in the rehab phase of his recovery from hip surgery. He remains a strong candidate to begin the year on reserve/PUP, which would force Pouncey to miss the first six games.

Giants LG Geoff Schwartz (toe) doesn't need surgery and is considered week-to-week.

Big news for the Giants. After it was initially feared Schwartz may miss the season, he'll be in a walking boot for 7-10 days and is considered week-to-week. Schwartz characterized it as a "minor setback." He's still extremely doubtful for Week 1, but could be back sometime during the season's first month.

Raiders placed CB D.J. Hayden (foot) on reserve/PUP.

Hayden will miss the first six games of the season and be eligible to return Week 8. He missed most of spring and all of training camp after undergoing surgery on his foot/ankle area. During his absence, the Raiders will roll with Tarell Brown and Carlos Rogers as their starting corners. Chimdi Chekwa, Travis Carrie, and Neiko Thorpe will have to play bigger defensive roles.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn writes that DuJuan Harris has made a push for the Packers' No. 2 running back job, and "it's anyone's guess" if it's Harris or James Starks.

"That's a question that has yet to be determined," said RBs coach Sam Gash. Harris lost a fumble in the Pack's second preseason game. He came back and exploded for 98 yards on 14 touches in Friday's dress rehearsal against the Raiders. Harris and Starks mixed in with the second-team offense after Lacy left the game. Coach Mike McCarthy loved Harris before he ruptured his patellar tendon last August. It's a battle worth watching closely.
