Lions waived WR/TE Dominique Curry.

A special teamer, Curry was attempting to make the switch from wide receiver to tight end. Curry goes to create roster room for TE Matt Veldman.

Knowshon Moreno (elbow) said he's four weeks away from returning.

"I probably got like four more weeks," Moreno said. "About four more weeks and I’ll be good." The Dolphins were hoping to have Moreno back in Week 6 when they come out of their bye. He's now targeting Week 8 against Jacksonville for his return. Lamar Miller will continue to be Miami's lead back for at least the next three games, with Daniel Thomas and Damien Williams backing him up.
Oct 1 - 1:19 PM

Jonathan Stewart (knee) returned to practice Wednesday.

The Panthers are desperate for running back help, and coach Ron Rivera said he's hopeful Stewart will be able to suit up this week against the Bears. Stewart hurt his knee in Week 3 and was initially slapped with a month-long timetable. He's not going to be 100 percent, but the Panthers may need him to play. Stewart would be a mere RB3 while handling around a dozen carries.
Oct 1 - 12:43 PM

Calvin Johnson (ankle) said he "definitely" feels better now than he did at this point last week.

After missing the bulk of practice last week, Megatron was essentially used as a decoy in the win over the Jets when he caught 2-of-2 targets for a measly 12 yards. Following the game, Johnson hinted he was playing at considerably less than 100 percent. Johnson will likely be limited most of the week once again, but expect him to play against the Bills and see plenty of double-coverage.
Oct 1 - 12:01 PM

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Bishop Sankey will likely get more reps than he has all season against the Browns this week.

"You will see (more reps for Sankey). That's coming," Whisenhunt said. "And I think you'll see more of that earlier in the game this week." Sankey has actually led the Titans' running backs in snaps the past two weeks with 22 and 29, respectively, but they've been coming in the second half when the Titans have been getting plastered on the scoreboard. Whisenhunt is finally realizing Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster aren't good. Sankey has managed 127 yards and one touchdown on 19 touches the past two weeks. Cleveland has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Sankey has RB2 upside.
Oct 1 - 10:49 AM

Teddy Bridgewater (ankle) was held out of Tuesday's practice.

The "hope" is that Bridgewater will be ready for Wednesday's walk-through, but Bridgewater himself has made it clear that he's no sure thing for Thursday's game against the Packers. The short week couldn't be coming at a worse time for the Vikes, who could be forced to turn to Christian Ponder in an important divisional tilt.
Sep 30 - 2:39 PM

Falcons placed SS William Moore (shoulder) on injured reserve/designated to return.

Moore can resume practicing in Week 11, but won't be eligible to return until Week 13. Moore suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. Second-year seventh-rounder Kemal Ishmael appears poised to take his place in the starting lineup. Moore is a playmaker, but not a star. He's also had trouble staying healthy, appearing in all 16 games just twice in six NFL seasons.
Sep 30 - 2:26 PM

Falcons placed C Joe Hawley on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

Hawley tore his right ACL in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. RT Lamar Holmes (foot) is also done for the season. Although neither player could be considered a true asset, it's a brutal blow for a team getting ravaged by injury for the second-consecutive season. As evidenced on Hard Knocks, Hawley was at least adept at setting the tone. The Falcons will now be forced to turn to 2012 draft bust Peter Konz in the middle. Still only 26 (in October), Hawley is under contract for 2015. He'll face competition.
Sep 30 - 2:12 PM

Raiders named OL coach Tony Sparano interim head coach.

Sparano, who coached the Dolphins from 2008-11, gets the nod over OC Greg Olson. Olson has no head-coaching experience. A Bill Parcells disciple, Sparano is now most (in)famous for his Wild Cat flirtations with Tim Tebow in New York, but he should be a solid guiding hand for the final 12 games of the season. We wouldn't consider him a strong candidate for the full-time gig, but the Raiders have a knack for making poor decisions. We wouldn't rule anything out.
Sep 30 - 2:00 PM

Jordan Reed (hamstring) was participating in individual work during Tuesday's practice.

Reed had been doing work on the side the last two weeks and likely needs to practice at least one day to play in Monday night's game against Seattle. Niles Paul (concussion) was also held out of Tuesday's practice, leaving Logan Paulsen to get reps with the first-team offense. Regardless, Reed needs to be owned in just about all formats as a true difference-making talent in the seam for Jay Gruden.
Sep 30 - 11:28 AM

Ben Tate (knee) is practicing Tuesday and coach Mike Pettine said Tate will start if he's ready for Week 5.

It's Tate's first practice since suffering a right knee sprain in Week 1. He was reportedly moving well, putting him on track to return as the lead back for Sunday's tasty matchup with the Titans. Previous speculation had Tate handling about 60 percent of the running back carries, with impressive riser Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West getting the rest.
Sep 30 - 11:04 AM

Carson Palmer said the nerve in his shoulder hasn't progressed as much as he had hoped.

Palmer still thinks he can prove to coaches he's capable of starting Sunday's game at Denver. But nerve issues in throwing shoulders sap arm strength, a major concern for a player who needs the deep ball to be effective. Given how well Drew Stanton performed in the Week 3 upset of the 49ers, it's possible the Cardinals will err on the side of caution with Palmer. Consider him questionable for now.
