Cowboys signed second-round TE Gavin Escobar to a four-year contract.

A long, deliberate-moving, upright tight end prospect out of San Diego State, No. 47 overall pick Escobar will compete with James Hanna in training camp to be Jason Witten's top backup. Hanna has the early edge because he's a more quick-twitch athlete and better blocker. Escobar won't have 2013 fantasy value, and we're not especially enamored by his long-term outlook, either.

Terrance West (calf) is active for Week 3 against the Jaguars in London.

West sat out the first two practices of the week, but he was able to get in a full session on Friday. Despite being active, West may not be ready for a full workload at less than 100 percent, and Buck Allen has out-touched him 40-29 through two weeks. Allen looks like the better fantasy play and a quality RB2 while West is more of a hope-for-a-touchdown FLEX option.

Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (ankle) is active for Week 3 against the Ravens in London.

Ramsey was limited most of the week and sat out Thursday's practice because of the injury, but he will play through the issue as he did last week against the Titans. LT Cam Robinson (shoulder) is also ready to go. Jacksonville declared WR Jaelen Strong (hamstring), OLB Lerentee McCray (knee), QB Ryan Nassib, T.J. Yeldon, OL William Poehls, OL Josh Walker, and CB Jalen Myrick inactive for Week 3.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport ‏reports Jay Ajayi (questionable, knee) is expected to play Week 3 against the Jets.

Ajayi was held out of two practices this week, but it was more of a maintenance situation than a threat to his Week 3 status. He shouldn't have any limitations despite the questionable tag. There's concern over how Ajayi's knee will hold up with Miami playing 16 consecutive games, but Dolphins should continue to ride him in a matchup that favors a run-heavy gamescript.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jordy Nelson (quad, questionable) is expected to play Week 3 against the Bengals.

There was some concern early in the week, but coach Mike McCarthy said on Friday he expected his No. 1 receiver to suit up. With Randall Cobb (shoulder) likely to sit, Nelson should see more snaps in the slot, where he has excelled the last two seasons. He is a high-end WR1 this week.
Sep 24 - 1:03 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Melvin Gordon (knee) is expected to play Week 3 against the Chiefs.

There never seemed to be much doubt despite a questionable tag, but confirmation is always nice, especially since this is a late-afternoon kickoff. A good bet for a touchdown every week, Gordon is a locked-in RB1.
Sep 24 - 12:58 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jordan Reed (chest, shoulder, toe) will be a game-time decision.

Schefter says he is "more unlikely to play" than to suit up, but Washington will still take it to the wire. The good news for Reed owners is Vernon Davis is available in most leagues and a great fill-in option if Reed cannot play.
Sep 24 - 12:55 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports DeMarco Murray (hamstring, questionable) "more than likely" will play Week 3 against the Seahawks.

This seemed to be the way things were heading after Murray returned to a limited practice on Friday, but ESPN's Cameron Wolfe suggested Murray is unlikely to get a full workload even if he suits up. Derrick Henry will be the better fantasy play regardless of Murray's status.
Sep 24 - 12:52 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Rob Kelley (ribs) is not expected to play Week 3 against the Raiders.

This is a big surprise after Kelley was able to practice all week. Unfortunately, we will not know Kelley's status for sure until Sunday night, putting owners in a tough spot. Samaje Perine is still available in a lot of leagues and is a must-add, especially for Kelley owners.
Sep 24 - 12:49 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Cam Newton (shoulder, ankle, questionable) will play Week 3 against the Saints.

There was never much doubt, but it is good to get confirmation. Newton has only attempted 57 passes through two games with just 399 yards and two touchdowns to show for it, but he could not have a better matchup than at home against the Saints. He is a solid QB1.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase doesn’t plan to scale back Jay Ajayi’s workload.

"You don’t want to take him out of his rhythm. It’s hard to take out the guy that’s really good," said Gase on Ajayi's every-down role. Ajayi had 30 touches and played on 94 percent of snaps last week. There’s rumblings Miami could back off his workload given his knee issues, but Ajayi’s missed practices look more maintenance related than a Week 3 concern. Ajayi could push for his fourth career 200-yard game in Sunday’s Jets matchup.
Sep 23 - 7:41 PM

Jermaine Gresham (ribs) is questionable for Monday night's Week 3 game against the Cowboys.

Gresham was held out last week, but the Cardinals expect him to return after practicing on a limited basis. With John Brown sidelined and J.J. Nelson dealing with a hamstring issue, he could have an expanded pass-game role. Gresham has a streamable matchup against an injured Dallas secondary.
