Giants OC Kevin Gilbride says he's seen "significant improvement" in David Wilson's second NFL offseason, but he's "still not 100 percent" trustworthy as a pass protector and runner.

"He still makes mistakes but there has certainly been some significant [growth]," Gilbride added. "Now until you get the pads on -– and he has to show that he, as a smaller guy, can do the things necessary that other small backs in this league have done –- you are still kind of holding your breath when you see him." Gilbride wants Wilson to become a better pass catcher and pass protector before committing to the second-year back as an every-down player. Wilson is still in the process of gaining his coaching staff's trust, making him a high-risk, high-reward RB2 fantasy football pick.

Raiders released FB Marcel Reece.

Suspended the first three weeks of the season for a PEDs violation, Reece was deemed unworthy of the remainder of his $2.6 million base salary by the Raiders. 31 years old, Reece has averaged 4.6 yards per carry and 9.8 yards per reception in his eight-year career. He should be able to latch on elsewhere as a swiss-army-knife contributor. Reece can also play special teams.

Coach Rex Ryan said Monday he "can't say" whether Sammy Watkins (foot) will be ready for Week 4 at New England.

Ryan said the Bills are still in "wait-and-see" mode regarding Watkins' playing availability week to week. The Bills will see how Watkins is feeling later in the week and make a decision thereafter. Watkins' injured foot was stepped on by a teammate last week. He may come down to a game-time decision.

Jets claimed TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins off waivers from the Bucs.

Jets OC Chan Gailey has a reputation for "not using tight ends," but he also has a reputation for maximizing talent, which Seferian-Jenkins obviously has in spades despite all of his issues off the field. Seferian-Jenkins was popped for DUI last week, leading to his release from the Bucs. Picking him up is an extremely low-risk, high-upside maneuver by Jets GM Mike Maccagnan. Assuming Seferian-Jenkins is intent on continuing his football career, he should be able to earn a role in the offense by the middle of next month. ASJ still lacks re-draft value, but he remains a hold in Dynasty leagues.

Coach Ben McAdoo said Monday the Giants will use a "committee" to replace Shane Vereen (torn triceps).

Early-down grinder Orleans Darkwa and passing-game specialist Bobby Rainey are expected to see the biggest bumps in playing time, at least until Rashad Jennings (thumb) comes back. Rookie Paul Perkins has been strictly a special teamer. Darkwa is expected to start against the Vikings in Week 4 if Jennings isn't ready. The Giants have a brutal forthcoming schedule from a run-defense standpoint (@ MIN, @ GB, vs. BAL, vs. LAR, vs. PHI, vs. CIN).

Coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that first-round pick Laquon Treadwell isn't playing because "he's still thinking too much."

Treadwell was a healthy scratch in Week 3, even with Charles Johnson struggling mightily. Zimmer did praise Treadwell for having a "good attitude" while riding the bench. Current X receiver Johnson has just 20 receiving yards on ten targets through three games, and was held catch-less in Sunday's win over Carolina. It's only a matter of time before Treadwell supplants him.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis believes Tyler Eifert (ankle) is "close" to returning.

Eifert got in some limited practices last week, suggesting he could indeed be ready for Thursday's game against the Dolphins. Lewis has already said Eifert will probably be on a snap count as he first comes back. Eifert will be a touchdown-dependent, low-end TE1 if he suits up for Thursday Night Football.

Michael Floyd is in the league's concussion protocol.

Floyd was evaluated and cleared on Sunday, but had a headache on Monday. It's bad news for a player off to a slow start. Floyd's status will be updated no later than Wednesday, when the Cardinals issue their first Week 4 injury report. An absence against the Rams would create a big opening for John Brown, who is off to a shaky start after concussion issues of his own.

Speaking Monday, 49ers coach Chip Kelly hinted Colin Kaepernick could become the team's starter once he's back to full health.

"I don’t think he’s 100 percent right now so that’s why he’s our No. 2," Kelly said. Kelly hinted change could come once Kap is "full-go." Blaine Gabbert has predictably been setting the quarterback position back decades as Kelly's starter. He's averaging 177 passing yards and has four total touchdowns. His rate stats are abysmal. Kap's game was in full-on collapse last season, but he deserves a shot to be a dual-threat in Kelly's run-heavy offense. It's starting to look like a matter of when, not if, Kap gets a chance to supplant Gabbert.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports there is "optimism" Rashad Jennings (thumb) returns for Week 4.

There's optimism and urgency, as the Giants' unsettled backfield has lost Shane Vereen (triceps) for the season. Jennings was a surprising scratch on Sunday, so we'd still consider his status far from certain. He's unsure of his ability to contribute in the passing game, something that will be even more of a necessity with Vereen out. The Giants will issue their first injury report on Thursday.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Jeremy Langford has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle.

There were worries Langford could be dealing with an Achilles' issue after he was carted off Sunday evening, but he's dealing with merely a sprain. It's still likely of the "high" variety, and to cost Langford multiple games. Langford's absence is going to create an opening for rookie Jordan Howard to burst through. Howard needs to be added in all formats.

Speaking Monday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said "there's a chance" Jamaal Charles (knee) returns for Week 4.

It's basically what Reid's been saying for weeks. We'd bet on Charles missing his fourth straight game, and for Spencer Ware to once again carry the mail in Kansas City's backfield. Charles' status will be updated no later than Wednesday.
