NFL suspended Giants S Will Hill four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

He tested positive for marijuana. Hill was suspended four games last season for violating the league's policy on PEDs, but this one is for substance abuse. He's competing to be the Giants' No. 4 safety and will be eligible to return in Week 5 against the Eagles. In all likelihood, GM Jerry Reese will strongly considering severing ties with Hill, who went undrafted out of Florida in 2011 due to severe off-field red flags.

Adrian Peterson is in Minnesota and planning to attend Tuesday's OTAs.

C.J. Anderson reported to Broncos OTAs weighing 221 pounds, down more than 20 from the 2014 offseason.

Anderson shed the weight by "modifying his diet, and running hills and tracks in Colorado and California." Anderson weighed 243 at last year's OTAs. He finished the 2014 season weighing 223, and has now shed two more pounds. Anderson said his summer plan is to "lose even a little more weight," cutting out burgers and ice cream and replacing them with chicken and fish. "Sometimes it tastes like I am eating the same thing everyday," acknowledged Anderson, "but I know what it's going to do for me and the team in the long run."

The Chargers have informed FS Eric Weddle that they will not discuss an upgrade to his contract.

Even after skipping Chargers Organized Team Activities, Weddle's agent says his client won't make a fuss. The sides have agreed to part ways following this season. "He'll be excited about playing this year and then hit free agency," said player rep David Canter. "We're disappointed and will continue to be disappointed. But Eric will go all out this season." Weddle is 30 years old. He'll collect $7.5 million in the final year of his deal.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians plans to use more no-huddle offense this season.

"We can play real fast now," said Arians, who didn't use no-huddle beyond two-minute drills last season. The no-huddle offense can be effective in the NFL from a "rhythm" standpoint, while also preventing the defense from making substitutions. In Andre Ellington and rookie David Johnson, the Cards have two versatile backs capable of excelling in the no-huddle. More plays from scrimmage could also be a boon to Carson Palmer's fantasy stats.

Texans coach Bill O'Brien doesn't have a timeline for naming his starting quarterback.

In one of the least-impressive QB competitions in recent memory, Ryan Mallett is "battling" Brian Hoyer. Days shy of his 27th birthday, Mallett has only 79 career attempts. Hoyer was the worst quarterback in football down the stretch last season. O'Brien will try to hide whomever wins his competition. Our money is on Mallett.

Jordan Reed recently underwent a "procedure" on his knee.

Coach Jay Gruden said Reed will be ready for training camp, meaning the "procedure" was likely a scope or clean-out of some kind. But it's another setback for a player who is among the most injury-prone in the entire NFL. Reed has missed 12 games through two seasons, causing him to lose his grip on the starting tight end job. Niles Paul will head to camp as the frontrunner for the gig.

The Panthers are closing in on a contract extension with Cam Newton.

The deal, which could be done as soon as Monday afternoon, is expected to keep Newton in Carolina through the 2020 season. It will likely be announced as something similar to the six-year, $95 million Ryan Tannehill contract -- but will contain more guaranteed money at signing. Newton has gone 30-31-1 in four years since the Panthers took him No. 1 overall, winning the NFC South twice.

Saints coach Sean Payton made it clear he will prioritize getting C.J. Spiller the ball "in space."

Doug Marrone's Bills staff didn't make this a priority, instead banging Spiller between the tackles. His production fell off a cliff under Marrone, but Payton is likely to utilize Spiller similarly to how Chan Gailey did. "He’s explosive," Payton said of Spiller. "He knows what to do. I think there’s a real good fit for him with what we’re going to do offensively. We’ll put him in a role where, whether he’s in the backfield, (or) flexed out. The key I think for him is when we study him is finding him ways to get him the ball in space and let him utilize his skillset and speed." According to Fantasy Football Calculator, Spiller's Average Draft Position is currently in the middle of round five.

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports "several people within the organization" believe QB Tyrod Taylor has a chance to be the Week 1 starter.

The Bills have been splitting reps between Taylor, E.J. Manuel, and Matt Cassel at OTAs. A favorite of Rex Ryan, Taylor has flashed starting-caliber tools in preseason games, but his accuracy issues (54.3 career completion-percentage) are well documented. The Bills like Taylor’s ability to run OC Greg Roman’s scheme, where Colin Kaepernick finished behind only Russell Wilson in rushing yards (639) and attempts (104) last year.

Seahawks LE Michael Bennett admitted he is holding out of OTAs in an effort to land a new deal.

"Trying to get the contract right," said Bennett. "I’ll be there shortly. I don’t know when I’ll be there. Depends on the team and stuff. See how it works out." Bennett reportedly tried to force a trade this offseason, but has recently said he was just looking for a raise. Bennett is owned $18.5 million in salary and bonuses over the final three years of his deal.

Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds said Doug Martin stayed with the Bucs because new OC Dirk Koetter "wanted him back."

Bucs GM Jason Licht mentioned in a radio interview that Koetter liked what he saw from Martin on tape. Though Lovie Smith and the front office appear ready to move on from the oft-injured running back, Martin may have found an ally in Koetter. Martin will battle second-year RB Charles Sims for lead duties in training camp.
