Ronnie Hillman will open Broncos training camp as the starting tailback, ahead of Montee Ball and Knowshon Moreno.

We'll see how long it lasts. VP of Football Operations John Elway has repeatedly called Hillman a "change-of-pace back" since he was drafted in the 2012 third round, and Hillman's body of work as a rookie was largely unimpressive. Hillman was prone to negative runs and stuffs, and the Broncos didn't trust him in pass protection. Downhill rookie runner Ball would be far better suited to a bellcow role. We'll be monitoring this camp competition closely throughout August.

Coach Bruce Arians said he has "no idea" if Adrian Peterson (neck) will play again this season.

That's not very encouraging news. Peterson has missed the past two games and again missed practice Wednesday. The Cardinals are out of it, and there's a real chance we saw the last of Peterson playing in the NFL if he doesn't suit up the rest of this season. Peterson turns 33 in March, and there wasn't a hot market for his services last offseason. Kerwynn Williams and D.J. Foster will continue to fill in as the Cardinals' running backs in Peterson's absence.
Dec 13 - 3:40 PM

Giovani Bernard (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

It's a new issue for Bernard after he played a season-high in snaps and turned 17 touches into 130 yards. Perhaps it's more of a maintenance day after the big workload. Joe Mixon (concussion) remains in the protocol.
Dec 13 - 3:24 PM

Amari Cooper (ankle) is not practicing Wednesday.

Cooper played 14 snaps last week against the Chiefs before aggravating his ankle issue. The Raiders were stupid to play Cooper through the high-ankle sprain. Cooper is unlikely to be a factor the rest of the fantasy season.
Dec 13 - 2:59 PM

Josh Norman (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

He was riding the stationary bike off to the side. The knee issue is new for Norman, and he played every snap last week. Norman has been relatively average this season as he approaches his 30th birthday Friday. Norman likely isn't going to see much of Larry Fitzgerald in the slot anyway this week.
Dec 13 - 2:56 PM

Patriots placed RT Marcus Cannon on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.

Cannon hasn't played since Week 8, and the Patriots finally decided to throw in the towel for the rest of the season. Cannon's loss will be felt and already has at times with La'Adrian Waddle and Cameron Fleming trying to fill in the last several weeks. Cannon signed a five-year, $32.5 million extension last November.
Dec 13 - 2:13 PM

LeSean McCoy (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Coach Sean McDermott didn't mention McCoy in the morning as someone who would be limited in Wednesday's practice, but we'll side with it being a precaution for now. Coming off a huge game against the Colts when he saw 32 carries in the blizzard, it may just be a way to get McCoy some rest ahead of another smash spot this week against Miami. McCoy is a locked-in elite RB1.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) is "preparing to play" Week 15 against the Panthers.

Rodgers was medically cleared to return to the field late Tuesday night and should be under center Sunday against the Panthers. Brett Hundley had some flashes in Rodgers' absence but was more bad than good, and Rodgers' return gives the 7-6 Packers a shot to sneak into the playoffs. The schedule won't be easy, particularly starting this week in Charlotte against the Panthers.
Dec 13 - 1:23 PM

Kyle Rudolph (ankle) is in a walking boot after getting hurt late in Week 14.

Rudolph missed the final handful of plays last week against the Panthers and looks to be in jeopardy of missing Week 15 against the Bengals. Rudolph has been scoring at will of late, but his targets have been down the past few weeks. If he sits, David Morgan and Blake Bell are next up at tight end.
Dec 13 - 1:20 PM

Joe Mixon remains in the league's concussion protocol Wednesday.

Mixon was concussed nine days ago and missed Week 14. Giovani Bernard got the start in his absence and played 85.2% of the snaps while turning 17 touches into 130 scoreless yards. If he gets another start this week, it will be a tough road test against the Vikings' top-notch defense. Bernard will be a volume-dependent RB2, but expectations would need to be tempered.
Dec 13 - 11:27 AM

Coach Jim Caldwell said he expects Ameer Abdullah (neck) to return Week 15 against the Bears.

"I do, as long as things keep trending in the right direction," Caldwell said. The Lions and Bears kick off the early Saturday game at 4:30 ET. Abdullah's return will make none of the Lions' running backs attractive fantasy plays.
Dec 13 - 10:56 AM

Zach Ertz has cleared the league's concussion protocol and will practice Wednesday.

Ertz was said to be making steady progress late last week but was still dealing with headaches over the weekend and had to sit out the Week 14 thriller against the Rams. Trey Burton had a huge game in Ertz's absence but will be sent back to backup duties with Ertz healthy. Ertz will remain a TE1, even in the absence of Carson Wentz (knee). He gets a date against the Giants next.
