Ronnie Hillman took the initial first-team reps as the Broncos opened training camp Thursday.

Hillman was also the first-team back during OTAs and minicamp, but he still has eons to go before he wins the Week 1 starting job. Second-round rookie Montee Ball, the Doak Walker award winner as the nation's top running back last season, also got first-team reps Thursday. If Knowshon Moreno gets back to full speed after offseason knee surgery, he's firmly in the mix for third-down duties at the very least. Hillman ideally profiles as a perimeter or change-of-pace runner, a role we suspect he'll settle into if Ball handles his business over the next month. Ball's physical skill set makes him considerably better suited to be a bellcow.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Bills are "still holding out some hope" Sammy Watkins (questionable, foot) can play Sunday.

It's not much of an update. Watkins will go through pre-game warmups, but all signs continue to point to him sitting out. Marquise Goodwin will start in base sets if Watkins doesn't play, with Charles Clay the favorite to lead Buffalo in Week 3 targets.

Chargers waived RB Andre Williams.

With Antonio Gates sidelined, the Chargers needed to open a spot for TE Asante Cleveland. Getting waived after Danny Woodhead suffered a season-ending ACL injury is a bad sign for Williams, who was a healthy scratch the first two games. Williams could be re-signed next week if he clears waivers.

Willie Snead (questionable, toe) is a game-time decision for Week 3 against Atlanta.

Snead's status is up in the air after missing most of the practice week. He's "hopeful" of playing, but knows it'll come down to how he feels Monday. Even if Snead starts, the late game and possibility of a setback make him a risky WR3 play.

Packers officially ruled out OLB Clay Matthews and S Morgan Burnett for Week 3 against the Lions.

Both Letroy Guion (knee) and Datone Jones (knee) were downgraded to doubtful after being listed as questionable on the initial injury report. With Sam Shields (concussion) also out, the Packers will be without four starters and one important rotational player on defense against the Lions.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said he wants to get Dorial Green-Beckham "more targets."

Green-Beckham had four targets Week 2 after seeing two in the season opener. "We actually had DGB targeted a couple of times from a play call standpoint in the red zone, it's just that the play design went to the other side of the field," Pederson said. "We've increased his workload the last week and we want to continue to do that and move him around the more comfortable he gets with our system." With no one really stepping up behind Jordan Matthews, Green-Beckham has a chance to establish himself as the No. 2 in Philly.

Delanie Walker (hamstring, questionable) sounded unsure about his Week 3 status.

"We’ll see how I feel [Saturday] and go from there," Walker said. "We’re just trying to do the best plan to see if I can play on Sunday." Those are not the comments of a player confident about playing. Even if he does suit up, Walker will likely be limited. Owners need to set up a backup plan.

Julio Jones (calf) is listed as questionable for Monday night football.

Jones has no doubt about his availability for Monday night. "I will play," he said. Julio is safe to fire up as an elite WR1.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Trevor Siemian is still adjusting to the "speed of the game."

"He's made some poor decisions, athletic decisions," Kubiak said. "I know that sounds kind of crazy, but it's just learning that, 'Trevor, That guy can make that play. You're not in college anymore. You're not going to throw that ball through that guy.'" Siemian has three interceptions through two games, but Kubiak believes he is going to become more comfortable with the speed of the NFL each game. The young quarterback faces a tough test in Cincinnati this week.

ESPN Browns reporter Pat McManamon believes Isaiah Crowell will continue to be the lead back moving forward.

There was some concern Duke Johnson would take over as the lead back before the season, but Crowell has impressed with 195 yards and two scores through two weeks. Those numbers do not tell the whole story, however. Crowell earned 40 yards on three meaningless draws at the end of a loss Week 1, and he had an 85-yard touchdown last week. He has averaged just 2.7 yards on his other 26 carries. With the offense sure to nose dive with Cody Kessler under center, Crowell is a great sell high.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said he is not concerned about Matt Forte's early-season workload.

Forte is on pace for 472 touches, but neither OC Chan Gailey nor Bowles seems to care. "I like to see us successful," Bowles said. "If we can ride somebody, we’ll ride him, whether it be a receiver, quarterback or running back. It really doesn’t matter." Bilal Powell has been an afterthought this season, but he is a hold with the Jets seemingly intent on running the 30-year-old Forte into the ground.

Giants OC Mike Sullivan said the team is confident Rashad Jennings (questionable) can adjust to the cast on his injured thumb.

"It’s something that’s not natural. He’s used to doing that without the cast," Sullivan said. "It’s definitely an adjustment that we have great confidence he’ll be able to make." Coach Ben McAdoo also said he is "comfortable" with his No. 1 back. It seems clear Jennings is going to play, but he could see limited touches after playing fewer snaps than Shane Vereen last week. Even in a good matchup, he is more of a FLEX play this week.
