Broncos signed TE Deangelo Peterson, formerly of the Redskins.

Peterson, a former UDFA out of LSU, was waived/injured by Washington after breaking his right foot at OTAs. He's likely just a practice body in Denver.

CSN Mid-Atlantic's JP Finlay believes it's "hard to see a scenario" where the Redskins re-sign free agent DeSean Jackson.

Finlay's colleague, Rich Tandler, agrees. It's not that the Redskins don't want Jackson back in the fold; he's simply expected to price himself out of Washington's range. Pierre Garcon, also a free agent, is expected to be the Redskins' higher priority, and Jamison Crowder is also up for an extension soon. Jackson should have no problem clearing $10 million per year on the open market. The Eagles, Bucs, and Rams have all been linked to Jackson this offseason.

Ex-Bears coach Marc Trestman has been hired as head coach of the CFL's Toronto Argonauts.

Trestman was hired by the Bears in 2013 and spent two seasons at the helm in Chicago before getting canned and landing with the Ravens as OC for 1.5 years before being fired by Baltimore last October. He was rumored to be a candidate for the Rams' OC job this offseason, but nothing materialized there. Trestman coached the CFL's Montreal Alouettes from 2008-2012.

Browns released WR Andrew Hawkins.

This was fully expected after Hawkins again played minor role in Cleveland's offense, amassing just 33 catches for 324 yards and three scores. Signed to a four-year deal in 2014, Hawkins had a solid first season with the Browns with a 63-825-2 line on 101 targets. But Hawkins saw just 90 total targets over the past two years. A slot man only at 5'7/180, Hawkins turns 31 in March.

ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini reiterated New York will "almost certainly" try to trade DE Sheldon Richardson over the next couple weeks.

Richardson is a man without a position in New York. Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams are the Jets' top two 3-4 ends, and coach Todd Bowles was forced to move Richardson around, giving him some reps at linebacker. He's a three-technique tackle and one of the better interior pass rushers in the league. The Jets will likely try to get a first-rounder in return, but may have to settle for a day-two pick. Richardson has one year left on his contract at $8.069 million, which becomes guaranteed March 9.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports that unless something changes before Wednesday's deadline, the Chiefs are expected to franchise tag SS Eric Berry and let free agent NT Dontari Poe reach the market.

This scenario won't please Berry, who's stated several times that he plans to sit out the 2017 season if franchised for the second year in a row. The Chiefs have several key free agents and can't afford to not tag one. Berry is the All Pro and superior player, but Poe will find a healthy market.

According to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero, the market for free agent Kenny Stills is "already in the $12 million-a-year" range.

It sounds absurd; Only six NFL receivers make $12 million annually. With the salary cap rising each year, however, lower-tiered players will start making more money. Stills caught nine touchdowns in 2016 and isn't yet 25. He's also more than a one-trick deep threat. The Eagles are already said to be preparing to make a run at Stills when free agency opens March 9. Salguero doesn't expect the Dolphins to come close to Stills' asking price.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports there is "mutual interest" between the Cowboys and free agent Josh McCown.

According to Werder, the Cowboys need to resolve the Tony Romo situation before making a move on McCown. McCown, 38 in July, was cut by the Browns and is eligible to sign right away. He said he has spoken to a handful of teams and wants to go somewhere he can win and mentor a young passer. Dallas checks all the boxes.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Bears will not use the franchise tag on free agent Alshon Jeffery.

ESPN Bears reporter Jeff Dickerson confirmed RapSheet's report and added that the two sides haven't discussed an extension in weeks, putting Jeffery's chances of re-signing with the Bears at "slim." Tagging Jeffery would cost $17.5 million, pricey for a player who hasn't played a full 16-game season since 2014 and was suspended four games for PEDs last year. Jeffery will still land a monster deal as free agency's top wideout. The Eagles are fully expected to make a run at him.

Panthers re-signed DE Mario Addison to a three-year, $22.5 million contract.

He got $11.5 million guaranteed. Addison isn't a household name, but he is a big keep for Carolina. The 29-year-old rotational edge rusher led the Panthers in sacks (9.5) last season and has at least six quarterback takedowns in three straight years. Panthers GM Dave Gettleman's two biggest offseason priorities were retaining Addison and free agent DT Kawann Short. Short will almost certainly be franchise tagged by Wednesday's deadline.

According to 9News Denver's Mike Klis, the Broncos are expected to "at least discuss" pursuing Tony Romo if the Cowboys release him.

GM John Elway continues to insist the Broncos are satisfied with Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch, but nobody's buying it. Romo has listed Denver as one of his preferred landing spots and he'd be a near-perfect fit as a one or two-year bridge to Lynch, who profiles as the Broncos' quarterback of the future. Notably, Klis fails to mention if the Broncos would consider trading for Romo.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports Latavius Murray is expected to test the open market.

Per Anderson, "the door will remain open" for a return to Oakland, but the Raiders will let the market set Latavius' price. Murray lost work to rookies DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard last year, and the Raiders have spent the last two offseasons trying to replace him. If Murray leaves, Oakland will likely add a power back in the draft. Oklahoma's Samaje Perine would fit.
