Broncos placed DE Quanterus Smith on injured reserve, ending his season.

Smith is still working his way back from tearing his left ACL in November. The fifth-round rookie will "redshirt" this season. Smith's recovery didn't progress as quickly as the Broncos hoped, and coach John Fox suggested Smith was "carrying his leg" through camp. Smith will compete for a roster spot again in 2014.

Speaking Monday, Bills coach Sean McDermott said Tyrod Taylor remains the team's starting quarterback when healthy.

McDermott also said Taylor's Week 14 deactivation was "mostly" based on his health, whatever that means. It appears there's a decent chance Taylor is back for Week 15 against the Dolphins. Nathan Peterman is in the concussion protocol. Despite his recent disappointments and health issues, Taylor will be on the streaming radar if he can give it a go.

Kelvin Benjamin (right knee) is "still being evaluated."

Coach Sean McDermott said it was "too early to tell" on Benjamin's Week 15 status. He tweaked his troublesome knee twice in Sunday's snow bowl. Benjamin has played hurt a number of times this season, but he's probably going to be forced to sit for the fantasy semifinals.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Eagles second-round CB Sidney Jones (Achilles, NFI) is expected to practice this week.

Coach Doug Pederson later confirmed the news during his press conference. Jones likely would have been a first-round pick, but he tore his Achilles at Washington's Pro Day and slipped to the Eagles in the second round. This at least opens the door for Jones to play this season, but it is still not a given he returns.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed Carson Wentz suffered a torn ACL and is out for the season.

This is an awful development for a player who had legitimate MVP claims and a team with real Super Bowl aspirations. To add insult, the timing of the injury means Wentz is not guaranteed to be ready when the 2018 season rolls around, and he likely will be held out into training camp at the very least. With Wentz out, the Eagles will turn to Nick Foles, who managed just 42 yards on 10 attempts after Wentz left on Sunday, although he did find Nelson Agholor for a massive third-down conversion to help run out the clock. Foles starting is a big downgrade for the entire pass-catching corps, but it could force the Eagles to lean more on the running game and, specifically, Jay Ajayi. That said, it is difficult to spin this as good news for anyone in Philly.

Jamaal Williams played 50-of-76 (66 percent) snaps Week 14 against the Browns.

Aaron Jones only played eight a week after being out-snapped 48-to-2 by Williams. Even with Jones healthy, this is very clearly Williams' backfield, and that role should only become more valuable with Aaron Rodgers expected to return this week. Even in a tough matchup against the Panthers, Williams will be an upside RB2.

Arizona Sports 98.7's Mike Jurecki reports the Cardinals have "reached out" to Blaine Gabbert about a contract extension.

GM Steve Keim said Monday there is not "any question" the team would like to have Gabbert back. The former first-rounder signed a one-year deal in May to be the No. 3 quarterback, but injuries to both Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton thrust him into the starting role and perhaps even more. With Palmer's future uncertain, the Cardinals are in desperate need for at the very least a bridge quarterback, and it looks like they think Gabbert can be that guy. He certainly looked the part in his first two starts including an impressive performance against Jacksonville, but he has looked a lot more like Blaine Gabbert the last two weeks. Still, it makes sense to keep him around as Arizona searches for their quarterback of the future.
Dec 11 - 10:17 AM

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said he expects T.J. Yates to start Week 15 against the Jaguars.

This always appeared to be the likely outcome after Tom Savage suffered a nasty-looking concussion against the 49ers. Yates played relatively well after entering the game, hooking up with DeAndre Hopkins for two touchdowns, but he will face a considerably more difficult test this week in Jacksonville. The Jaguars DST will certainly be highly owned in DFS.

NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry reports Chris Hogan (shoulder, questionable) will play Monday night against the Dolphins.

ESPN's Mike Reiss reported the same on Sunday. Trusting players coming back from a long injury layoff is always a risk, but the Patriots need Hogan to play a big role with Rob Gronkowski suspended. Hogan will be an upside WR3 on Monday night.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said Bryce Petty will start if Josh McCown (broken hand) cannot play Week 15 against the Saints.

It makes sense as Petty has been the No. 2 quarterback all season and replaced McCown against the Broncos. Petty was terrible in relief, however, and it would make sense for the Jets to see how bad Christian Hackenberg actually is. If McCown's season is over, both Petty and Hackenberg should see snaps down the stretch.

Greg Olsen played 59-of-64 (92 percent) snaps Week 14 against the Vikings.

Olsen briefly left after getting his surgically-repaired foot rolled up, but he only ended up missing a few snaps. The snap share is good to see, but Olsen was only targeted once in the win and did not come down with the pass. Coach Ron Rivera said after the game Olsen's "role will expand," but it will be tough to trust him as a starting option in the fantasy semifinals.
Dec 11 - 9:11 AM

Le'Veon Bell rushed 13 times for 48 yards and two touchdowns and caught 9-of-10 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against Baltimore.

Bell struggled to find running lanes on his limited carries, getting most of his yardage in the pass game. He lined up at receiver for a 20-yard touchdown on the Steelers' first drive, with both of his rushing TDs coming in the red-zone. Bell had his knee bent on a first-half run but managed to stay in the game. The scoring salvaged Bell’s night but this wasn’t one of his best rushing performances. Bell will remain a top-five play against the Patriots in Week 15.
