Both Victor Cruz (heel) and Jason Pierre-Paul (back) are practicing Wednesday.

"They are full speed ahead," coach Tom Coughlin said. Cruz has downplayed the severity of his bruise for weeks now and was never in any real doubt for Week 1. He bounced back well following his Monday return to practice. Pierre-Paul, meanwhile, needs to get back in game shape. He could play in a rotation against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports Jordy Nelson left knee issue is tendinitis, and "not (currently) viewed as serious."

Per Weder, the issue is believed to be the result of Nelson "overcompensating during rehab" from his torn right ACL. Minor side injuries are common as players return from serious injuries like ACL and Achilles' tears, but can often linger. The Pack are putting on a brave face about Nelson's Week 1 status, but it shouldn't be taken for granted.

Browns placed WR Josh Gordon (quad) on the active/NFI list.

Gordon got hurt working out on his own this summer, and will miss a "couple of weeks." It's obviously the last thing Gordon needed after being suspended 27 of the past 32 games. Gordon figures to be on a strict snap count when he returns from his latest ban in Week 5, and should be worked in slowly. Gordon can't be drafted as more than a WR3 who could pay off as something more in the second half of the season.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirms OLB Justin Houston (knee, PUP) will likely miss all of training camp.

Houston is just four months removed from having his (apparently not torn) ACL repaired. He was slapped with a 6-12 month timeline in February. Houston is a strong candidate for the reserve/PUP list.

Bengals placed TE Tyler Eifert (ankle surgery) on the active/PUP list.

Eifert doesn't appear to be a candidate to revert to reserve/PUP, costing him six games, but he's questionable for Week 1. We probably won't have a good idea of Eifert's status for the opener until the waning days of camp.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports unsigned Chiefs franchise player Eric Berry won't report for the start of training camp.

It's a symbolic gesture, as the sides can't negotiate until after the season. Berry might be trying to lessen his injury odds, but holdouts are often prone to soft-tissue ailments. He could also be angling for 2017 concessions (I.E., not another franchise tag). We'd imagine Berry won't wait too long before signing his $10.8 million tender.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick is not expected to re-sign with the Jets before the start of training camp on Wednesday.

The Harvard man is committed to hardball. Of course, hardball works better when you have actual leverage. Until/if a starter gets hurt elsewhere, Fitz is essentially negotiating against himself. With bitterness having set in, Fitz could sit out for quite a while, but the Jets remain his only realistic destination.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports suspended Cowboys RE Randy Gregory has again violated the league's substance-abuse policy, and is facing a longer suspension.

ESPN's Ed Werder reported earlier Tuesday that Gregory was headed to drug treatment instead of Cowboys camp. Now we know why. It's a sadly unsurprising development for a player who entered the league with lots of questions about his off-the-field habits. It's probably best assumed that he won't see the field in 2016, which is devastating news for the Cowboys' wafer-thin front seven. Owner Jerry Jones could be getting awful tempted to give free agent Greg Hardy a call.

Ravens agreed to terms with OT Jake Long on a one-year contract.

The former No. 1 overall pick spent 2015 in mothballs on the Falcons' bench. Now 31, the oft-injured Long says he's "finally healthy," but at best, he'll be the No. 3 tackle for a team that released Eugene Monroe last month. Ronnie Stanley and Ricky Wagner are the starters at tackle.

Lions agreed to terms with WR Anquan Boldin on a one-year contract.

Boldin visited the Lions last month. Boldin still had plenty left in the tank for the pathetic 49ers last season, catching 69 passes in 14 games as he dealt with bottom-three quarterback play. Still, going on 36, he's headed to the Lions as a No. 3 receiver. He'll cut into Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, and Eric Ebron's targets, but shouldn't destroy their fantasy value. As a standalone option, Boldin probably won't be more than a WR5. It's a big addition for a Lions team moving on from Calvin Johnson, but not a major fantasy event.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase once again praised Arian Foster's receiving ability.

It's worth noting that Gase was prompted, and in general is still talking like Foster will be competing on all downs, not just third. "He’s the type of guy that he can run his route tree similar to what a wide receiver’s is," Gase said. "When we worked him out, I put him in a couple of spots just to see how that looked and he runs about as smooth as any running back that I’ve ever seen." Again, Foster is still very much in the mix on early downs, but at the very least, it's clear the Dolphins are envisioning him catching passes. Jay Ajayi needs to have the camp of his life.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports the Redskins have had "internal discussions" about signing free agent DE Greg Hardy.

The Redskins' thin pass rush just loss Junior Galette for the season, and GM Scot McCloughan hasn't been shy about adding players with "character concerns," real or imagined. Hardy's are very real, but he's a dominant pass rusher who remains in his physical prime. The Redskins would be an unsurprising team to take the plunge. Perhaps no organization in the league is more used to bad PR.
