Suspended Redskins FS Tanard Jackson was eligible to apply for reinstatement on August 31.

Jackson was suspended indefinitely on August 31 of last year for multiple violations of the league's substance-abuse policy. Redskins DC Jim Haslett said in June that the team would welcome Jackson back if reinstated. He hasn't appeared in a regular season game since the 2011 finale with the Buccaneers.

ESPN's Todd McShay said the Cardinals and Chiefs "continue to come up in conversations" about Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes.

Arizona has the No. 13 pick while Kansas City owns the No. 27 selection in the first round. The Cardinals should have a chance to grab Mahomes at their draft slot if they believe he can be the eventual successor for Carson Palmer, but McShay does not think the Texas Tech product will still be on the board when the Chiefs' turn comes around. Mahomes should be the third quarterback selected behind North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky and Clemson's Deshaun Watson.

ESPN's Todd McShay reports the Bucs "really like" Florida State RB Dalvin Cook.

McShay adds they will "strongly consider" Cook if he is still on the board at No. 19. There have been rumors Cook will fall to the second day of the draft because of off-field and testing concerns, but the Bucs have always seemed like a likely destination for the Florida-born product. Drafting Cook would likely spell the end for Doug Martin in Tampa.

WKBW Buffalo's Joe Buscaglia does not think the Bills want to select a quarterback with the No. 10 overall pick.

Buffalo has been consistently linked with Clemson's Deshaun Watson and UNC's Mitchell Trubisky throughout the pre-draft process, but Buscaglia is not buying it. The Bills have several needs throughout the roster and Tyrod Taylor under contract for two more years, but they do not seem to be completely sold on Taylor or 2016 fourth-rounder Cardale Jones as the long-term answer. Even if they do not spend a first-round pick on a quarterback, the Bills will likely address the position at some point in the draft.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Bengals want a first-round pick "at least" for A.J. McCarron.

In other words, the Bengals do not want to trade A.J. McCarron. Scheduled to be a restricted free agent (pending arbitration) after this season, McCarron is under cheap team control for the next two years, so the Bengals have zero incentive to move him for anything less than their price. He will sit behind Andy Dalton for at least another season.

Seahawks GM John Schneider said the Raiders and Marshawn Lynch are "still talking."

Schneider also reiterated the draft deadline Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie set for a deal last week. "I would think Reggie would want to go into the draft knowing that they have another runner or not," Schneider said. The Raiders reportedly want to pay Lynch $3 million a year while the running back is looking for closer to $5 million. A compromise near the $3.5 million Adrian Peterson will get from the Saints could work for both sides, but it needs to happen quickly.

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ Advance Media reports the Eagles are "very interested" in Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon.

The report came on the same day Jets GM Mike Maccagnan made it clear his team is not interested in taking Mixon because of his off-field past, highlighting the disparity of opinion throughout the league. Mixon only needs one team to take the plunge, however, and it is possible the Eagles are that organization. The running back has also been linked with the Vikings, Bengals, and Raiders.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there is "mutual interest" between the Giants and free agent RB LeGarrette Blount.

With Mike Gillislee now in New England, Blount is on the lookout for a new team. The Giants make sense as they need a bigger complement to Paul Perkins and Shane Vereen, and Blount will not cost much money. That said, New York may want to wait to see who falls to them in the draft before turning to Blount. The 30-year-old rushed for 18 touchdowns last season.

Saints signed Adrian Peterson to a two-year, $7-million contract.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the deal is essentially a one-year deal with an option for a second. While Peterson is not expected to be the nominal "starter" in New Orleans, he should see opportunities if he is healthy and effective. Tim Hightower touched the ball 155 times last season, and that was with Mark Ingram playing 16 games for only the second time in his career. Peterson likely will get even more work, making him at worst a top-35 back with the upside for more.

Steelers GM Kevin Colbert said the team still does not know if suspended WR Martavis Bryant will be reinstated.

"We have no information. We have no idea if we’ll get information (before the draft) or not," Colbert said Monday. "We have to operate under the assumption that, until he is here, he is not here." Bryant has widely been expected to gain reinstatement, but Colbert is clearly not taking that for granted. Whether that means the Steelers are just being prudent or have been given a heads up remains to be seen. Either way, it will not be surprising if Pittsburgh invests an early-round pick on a pass catcher this week.

The Palm Beach Post's Joe Schad reports Dolphins C Mike Pouncey underwent a "stem cell procedure within the past few weeks."

The operation is reportedly to blame for Pouncey being spotted on crutches Monday, and he is expected to shed them in the near future. A league source told Schad the center remains "on track" and has not suffered any setbacks. That may be true, but Pouncey's ability to get and stay healthy remains in serious question. The Dolphins will likely limit him throughout the offseason program and perhaps even training camp.

According to ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss, the "expectation" is Mike Gillislee will "essentially fill LeGarrette Blount's role" in the Patriots' offense.

Blount led the NFL in rushing touchdowns (18) and finished second in the league in carries (299), so this would be a huge win for Gillislee's fantasy outlook. Reiss considers Gillislee, Rex Burkhead, and James White "locks" to make the roster, with Dion Lewis "rounding out the top four slots on the running back depth chart." Over the past two offseasons, the Patriots have pried Gillislee, Stephon Gilmore, and Chris Hogan from the division-rival Bills.
