Browns first-round OLB Barkevious Mingo (bruised lung) has been medically cleared for contact.

Mingo is expected to practice this week and make his NFL debut against the Ravens Sunday. It's a boost to a front seven that turned in a dominating performance in Week 1, limiting Lamar Miller/Daniel Thomas to 17 yards on 18 carries and sacking Ryan Tannehill four times. Mingo will come off the bench behind Paul Kruger and Jabaal Sheard.

Chargers signed RB Danny Woodhead to a two-year contract extension through 2016.

The deal keeps Woodhead in San Diego through 2016. Financial terms are not yet available, though Woodhead is currently scheduled to make $1.75 million this season. Heading into his age-29 season, Woodhead set new career highs with 76 catches and 106 carries last season. He'll remain the Bolts' primary passing-down back this season, but should cede touches to Donald Brown. Woodhead is an RB2/3 in PPR leagues.

The Browns have "no plans" to release Josh Gordon, and expect him to participate in training camp while his suspension appeal is heard.

"We're expecting him to report on Friday and be on the field,'' Pettine said Monday. "We have no plans to cut him. I know there's been a lot of debate over that, but I don't see us having that debate." Gordon's presence at practice will be short lived, as his appeal is expected to be heard before the end of the month. He's fully expected to earn a 16-game ban.

Julio Jones will be "limited" for the start of training camp, but has avoided the active/PUP list.

We'd obviously prefer to see Jones at 100 percent from Day 1, but the fact that he's avoided the PUP list is a strong sign the Falcons aren't worried about his health. Jones' preseason reps figure to be strictly managed, but he'll be ready to rock as a top-five receiver for Week 1.

Bernard Pierce (shoulder surgery) has been "fully cleared" for training camp.

With Ray Rice expected to draw a multi-game suspension, Pierce's clearance paves the way for him to open the season as the Ravens' early-down back. Listed at 230 pounds, Pierce also said he's down to 223. It can only help after a sluggish 2013. Despite last year's struggles, Pierce's role makes him well worth a mid-round flier in fantasy drafts.

Chargers released OLB Larry English.

English was the 16th overall pick in the 2009 draft and is not subject to waivers. The 28-year-old has missed 28 games over the past four seasons mostly due to right foot problems. He has 11 career sacks across 52 career games, but has never accumulated more than three in a season. English's roster spot has been in jeopardy the past couple years, and GM Tom Telesco finally cut the cord. He should be able to latch on with another team for the summer.

Giants fourth-round rookie RB Andre Williams worked in the goal-line package with the first-team offense at Tuesday's opening training camp practice.

Williams appears to be opening camp ahead of Peyton Hillis on the depth chart for short-yardage work. Williams is a north-south runner with zero jukes to his game, which obviously limits him between the 20s. That's where Rashad Jennings and David Wilson will earn their keep. But Williams taking touchdown opps away from Jennings would be a big blow to Jennings' stock. If Williams can secure goal-line duties, he immediately propels himself onto the re-draft radar. We're in the early stages of summer, but it's something to watch closely.

The Houston Chronicle reports Andre Johnson is expected to report to training camp on time.

Johnson was in Houston at NRG Stadium on Monday talking with the team's brass. It's obviously great news for the Texans and would ease the minds of fantasy football players. The Texans have no real incentive to trade Johnson unless they can finagle an early-round draft pick out of the acquiring team. Johnson has averaged 110.5 catches for 1502.5 yards and nine total touchdowns over the past two seasons. A shoo-in WR1 when healthy, Johnson's current ADP is at the back of the fourth round.

The Tampa Tribune reports Bucs LG Carl Nicks (toe) has been cleared to play.

It appears Nicks will be ready for the start of training camp this week and will avoid the active/PUP list. While Nicks' toe is far from a guarantee to hold up, his return is a big boost for Doug Martin and Tampa Bay's entire offense. His last healthy season (2011), Nicks was PFF's No. 2 overall guard, excelling in both the run and pass games for the Saints. The Bucs are holding an open competition at right guard between Patrick Omameh, Jamon Meredith, and Oniel Cousins.

Sources have informed former NFL scout John Middlekauf that Raiders second-year CB D.J. Hayden (ankle) is still not healthy, and may open training camp on the active/PUP list.

Unreal. According to Middlekauf, even if Hayden doesn't end up on PUP, he's not expected to be a full participant in training camp, "similar to last season." Hayden was reportedly out of his walking boot earlier this month, but still can't seem to get his ankle right. Hayden battled a heart issue in college before undergoing abdominal surgery shortly after the Raiders drafted him with last year's No. 12 pick. He then played in eight games before landing on I.R. with a groin injury. The Raiders don't have much at corner behind Hayden, Carlos Rogers, and Tarell Brown. Fourth-round rookie Keith McGill would be the next man up.
Jul 22 - 10:56 AM

Patriots placed WR Aaron Dobson (foot) on the active/PUP list.

Joining him there will be CB Alfonzo Dennard, WR Jeremy Gallon, DT Tommy Kelly and WR Matt Slater. Dobson had been optimistic he'd be good to go for the start of camp, but isn't ready after sitting out the entire offseason program. This being the Pats, there's little hard info on Dobson's recovery, but we doubt his stay on the PUP list will be a long one. Dobson can be activated at any time.
Jul 21 - 5:15 PM

Bengals placed DT Geno Atkins (knee) on the active/PUP list.

Joining him there will be OG Clint Boling (knee), LB Marquis Flowers (hamstring), CB Leon Hall (Achilles), P Kevin Huber (neck), WR Colin Lockett (hamstring), DT Zach Minter (back), DT Devon Still (back) and WR Ryan Whalen (hamstring). Updates on Atkins' status have been scarce, but he's now roughly nine months removed from blowing out his knee. He could end up missing the entire preseason, but should still be considered better than 50-50 to be ready for Week 1. His status will be updated in the coming weeks.
