Broncos placed LT Ryan Clady (foot) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Clady, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro, needs surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his left foot. It's a massive blow the Broncos' Super Bowl aspirations. Clady is among the league's best pass protectors, obviously a crucial part of a Peyton Manning offense. Chris Clark, a 2010 undrafted free agent with six career starts, will fill in on Manning's blindside and newly signed Winston Justice will be the swing tackle. The Broncos may need to give top blitz pickup back Knowshon Moreno even more snaps now. Clady signed a five-year, $52.5M contract that included $33M guaranteed in July.

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Monday that J.J. Watt (back) has a chance to be ready for Week 1 against the Bears.

It's bad news for the Bears, whose line has been depleted by injuries, and whose offense as a whole has looked nightmarish in August. "I can definitely see (Watt playing in the opener)," O'Brien said. "He's on the right track. He's made a lot of progress the past couple weeks." When Watt originally underwent back surgery in July, NFL Network reported he would be ready for Week 1.

Paxton Lynch will play the entire game in the Broncos' preseason finale.

This should place him squarely on preseason DFS crosshairs. It's also a big opportunity for Denver's first-round pick; Lynch could start sooner rather than later if he plays well Thursday, and Trevor Siemian struggles early in the year. Siemian finished his college career with a 27:24 TD-to-INT ratio.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Monday that John Brown is still experiencing headaches.

Arians did insist Brown is "making progress," and that Smokey has been headache free for two days. Brown's recovery has still been alarmingly slow from an early-camp concussion. The Cardinals have not yet given any indication that Brown's reoccurring headaches could keep him out of Week 1.

Chargers signed No. 3 overall pick DE Joey Bosa to a four-year, $26 million contract.

In the end, both sides blinked. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chargers agreed to give Bosa the largest up-front signing bonus in franchise history ($17 million) in exchange for offset language. Bosa now has only 13 days to get ready for Week 1 after skipping the entire offseason program. He's supposedly been working out "like a madman" on his own. Bosa could be on an early snap count, but he's an elite 21-year-old athlete. At least physically, it won't take him long to get up to speed.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden says injured reserve is a possibility for RB Keith Marshall (elbow).

Marshall is only supposed to be sidelined three weeks, so it would be a drastic move. Of course, Marshall could be the player the Redskins stash to activate later. He's probably not important enough for that honor, however. Even with Matt Jones (shoulder) banged up, Marshall is completely off the re-draft radar.

Lions placed LS Jimmy Landes on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.

Stunningly, using a draft pick on a long snapper turned out to be a poor investment. Landes will be back in 2017, where he'll compete to snap the snaps that are longer than normal snaps.

Pro Football Talk reports the Broncos are attempting to trade Mark Sanchez.

This is standard procedure before a team cuts a player who could have value on the trade market. Considering they sent a conditional pick to the Eagles to land Sanchez, the Broncos likely need to get a better pick in return to make the deal profitable. It is unlikely they will, meaning Sanchez should be cut in the near future.

Broncos officially announced Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback.

#AsExpected. Despite entering the offseason as the heavy underdog to Mark Sanchez, the 2015 seventh-rounder simply outplayed the veteran throughout training camp and the preseason. Showing a good understanding of the offense and a willingness to push the ball downfield, it is not crazy to think Siemian could perform as well as Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler did for the Broncos last season. With the starting job now set, the focus turns to the battle between first-rounder Paxton Lynch and Sanchez for the No. 2 job. Sanchez did not play in the third preseason game, and it appears likely he will be cut this week.

MMQB's Albert Breer reports Tony Romo (back) could resume training in as little as three weeks.

Breer reports Romo avoided any ligament damage in his back, giving him a three-to-six week timetable to resume training. He will need several more weeks to get back in football shape after he resumes training, but this timeline at least suggests Romo could return after the Week 7 bye. Preseason darling Dak Prescott will start while Romo is sidelined.

Jordan Matthews (knee) returned to practice Monday.

Matthews will likely be limited in his return, but it is a great sign for his Week 1 availability. With nobody stepping up while he was sidelined, Matthews will enter the season as the clear No. 1 receiver.

Texans QB Brock Osweiler said first-round WR Will Fuller is a "very special football player."

"Obviously, everybody knows about his speed -- they saw him all last season, they saw him at the combine -- but it’s his work ethic," Osweiler said. "That’s what really makes him special." Osweiler has looked the rookie's way early and often this preseason, and Fuller has rewarded his quarterback with eight catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Locked into the starting lineup, Fuller is a very interesting late-round grab.
