Latest Headlines reports an internet rumor of Hakeem Nicks being traded to the Lions is "bogus" and "unfounded."

We read the "story" -- which circulated on Wednesday -- and had a good laugh. It was clearly fictional. The "report," via one of the most dubious authors you'll ever see, claimed Nicks was headed to the Lions in exchange for a 2014 third-round pick and Mikel Leshoure. We certainly wouldn't rule out a future Leshoure trade, but this guy's claim was about as unreliable as it gets.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports the Bucs are expected to activate rookie Charles Sims from the injured reserve-designated for return list by 4pm ET on Saturday.

The Bucs' third-round pick is expected to be active for Sunday's game against the Browns, but his role remains unclear. The Tampa coaching staff likely hasn't even decided fully yet. Expect Bobby Rainey to get the start, and Sims to be eased in. That would be the conservative projection, of course. There is an outside chance Sims could become a useful flex play by as early as Week 10 against Atlanta. He should be rostered in leagues of all sizes.

Tony Romo (back) is listed as questionable for Week 9 versus Arizona.

He missed a third straight practice on Friday. The fact that playcaller Scott Linehan sounded pessimistic about Romo's chances of playing after practice indicates Romo is on the doubtful side of his "Q" tag, but the Cowboys claim the decision will go down to game time. Regardless of which quarterback is under center, expect Dallas to lean heavily on its rushing attack against the Cards.
Oct 31 - 3:17 PM

Ryan Mathews (MCL sprain) returned to a limited practice on Friday, and afterwards coach Mike McCoy announced Mathews is "getting close."

Mathews has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Dolphins, but he should be back following San Diego's Week 10 bye. He should also be owned in all leagues as the favorite for early-down carries and goal-line work in one of the league's best offenses. We expect Branden Oliver to stay involved once Mathews returns, but likely only as a passing-down back. Mathews is San Diego's bellcow runner and offers stretch-run RB1/2 upside in non-PPR leagues.
Oct 31 - 2:52 PM

Doug Martin (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 9 against the Browns.

Bobby Rainey is shaping up as a sneaky-good flex option against a porous Cleveland run defense, particularly with rookie Charles Sims uncertain to be activated for the game. If Sims doesn't play, the Bucs would turn to Rainey in the lead back role with Mike James perhaps being utilized as the breather back. Fantasy owners in need of roster space can send Martin packing at this point.

Asked Friday whether Giovani Bernard (hip, out) will be available for Week 10 against the Browns, coach Marvin Lewis replied "We'll see."

"We'll cross those bridges then," Lewis said of Bernard, whose production has dwindled while battling shoulder, rib, and hip injuries the past three weeks. "The rest will be good for him." After hosting the Jaguars on Sunday, the Bengals have a quick Week 10 turnaround as they'll host the Browns on Thursday Night Football. It's conceivable that rookie power back Jeremy Hill will end up making consecutive starts.
Oct 31 - 1:23 PM

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis expressed confidence Friday that A.J. Green (toe, questionable) will play Sunday against the Jaguars after practicing for a third consecutive day.

Green was technically "limited" in all three practices, but he's on course to start. "If everything stays the way it is, he'll play," Lewis said. The Bengals should be thankful to have gone 1-1-1 without Green in the lineup, including getting a critical division victory over the Ravens last week. With Green back and Mohamed Sanu rolling, Andy Dalton is shaping up as a decent two-quarterback-league start against a depleted Jaguars pass defense.
Oct 31 - 1:20 PM

Cowboys playcaller Scott Linehan acknowledged Friday that "it's rare" for a quarterback to play after missing an entire week of practice.

Tony Romo (back), of course, missed the entire week of practice. We were quite surprised when Jerry Jones essentially put the onus on Romo to play, deeming his availability a matter of "pain tolerance." Romo is a 34-year-old human being who's undergone two major back surgeries within the last two years. The chances appear to be rising that Brandon Weeden will start versus Arizona. Stay tuned for updates into Sunday morning.
Oct 31 - 1:16 PM

Doug Martin (ankle) remained sidelined at Friday's practice.

Barring a surprise, Bobby Rainey will get the start at running back against the Browns. Depending on how the Bucs choose to sprinkle Mike James and/or Charles Sims in, Rainey could handle 20-plus touches. If so, he'd be a high-upside RB2 against a Cleveland defense that is yielding the ninth-most fantasy points to running backs. Rainey has easily been Tampa's best runner in 2014.
Oct 31 - 12:37 PM

Tony Romo (back) remained sidelined at Friday's practice.

Coach Jason Garrett continues to say Romo will be a literal game-time decision. The Cowboys will see how Romo feels in pregame warm-ups and make a call then. It's all about pain tolerance for Romo, who will wear extra padding if he plays.
Oct 31 - 12:11 PM

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner doesn't expect Giovani Bernard (hip) to play Week 9 against the Jaguars.

Dehner thinks it would take a Mr. Miyagi-like miraculous healing for Bernard to play against Jacksonville. Bernard has been getting beat up the past few weeks, first injuring his collarbone, then suffering a hip pointer last week. Jeremy Hill is expected to "take over the load of the duties" on Sunday. A candidate for 20-plus touches as the feature back, Hill will be a borderline RB1.
Oct 31 - 10:19 AM

Rashad Jennings (knee) said the "goal" is to be cleared to play Week 10 against the Seahawks.

Jennings has already been ruled out for Monday night's Week 9 tilt with the Colts. He just began running and jogging earlier this week, but hopes to reach the point of planting and cutting on his sprained MCL at some point next week. We'd consider Jennings highly questionable for Week 10 at this point. Week 11 against the 49ers seems more realistic. Andre Williams will start Monday.
