Coach Jason Garrett stated Monday that Miles Austin (hamstring) has a chance to play in Week 5 against the Broncos.

"He has made progress," Garrett said. Austin has been running on the hamstring, and apparently avoiding setbacks. We'll be very hesitant to recommend Austin as a fantasy play, even in a projected shootout, due to his history of hamstring problems and aggravations. He's an extremely high-risk WR3 option.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns "have cooled" on USC QB Sam Darnold "in recent days."

Many in the national media have pegged Darnold as the top choice for the Browns for much of the draft season, but word out of Cleveland is the Browns have "narrowed" it down to Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen at No. 1 overall. Darnold is widely considered the best overall passing prospect in this class, but the Browns front office has many Mayfield supporters, and the perceived upside of Allen is a big draw. If Cleveland passes on Darnold, teams will be scurrying to take him.

Sources tell the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot that the Browns are believed to be down to Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield or Wyoming QB Josh Allen with the No. 1 overall pick.

Per those sources, the Browns have "cooled" on USC QB Sam Darnold in recent days for whatever reason. This falls in line with what some around the Browns have been saying for about a week now, as radio host and ex-Browns DB Dustin Fox reported last week that Cleveland was down to Mayfield and Allen. NBC's Dan Patrick reported the same on Monday. For what it's worth, GM John Dorsey's righthand man Scot McCloughan has said for awhile that Mayfield is his No. 1.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent Dez Bryant is expected to wait until after this week's draft to sign with a team.

There's been little known interest in Bryant since his release from the Cowboys nearly two weeks ago. He's yet to make a visit, and there have been no concrete teams absolutely known to be involved in courting the 29-year-old. He's going to find it real tough to come close to the $12.5 million he was scheduled to earn in 2018 on his Dallas deal. We'll continue to wait.

Vikings trainer Eric Sugarman said Dalvin Cook (knee) has "knocked the rehab out of the park" in his return from a torn ACL.

"He'll participate in (OTAs and minicamp) on a limited basis," Sugarman said. "Then the plan is for him, hopefully when he gets to training camp, he’ll be a participant just like everybody else." It sounds like Cook is just about ready, but the team is going to bring him slowly through spring work with an eye toward having Cook ready to roll this summer. Cook is an RB1 heading into 2018.

Rob Gronkowski announced in a Tuesday social media post that he will return for the 2018 season.

"I met with coach today and informed him I will be back for the 2018 season with the Pats," Gronk posted on Instagram, under his @gronk handle. "I have been working out, staying in shape and feel great." The fact that Gronkowski met with coach Bill Belichick on Tuesday to inform him of his intentions confirms he was seriously considering stepping away. Although Gronk is still only 29 (next month), he has dealt with a litany of serious injuries during his eight seasons in the NFL. At this point, he should be considered a year-to-year proposition going forward, something to be mindful of in Dynasty leagues.

Speaking Tuesday, Saints coach Sean Payton said Cameron Meredith (ACL) could get in some work in June's minicamp.

Payton said the ex-Bear is "recovering well." Meredith went down at the end of last preseason. Any minicamp work would probably be cosmetic but would set Meredith up to be a full participant in training camp.

Dolphins exercised WR DeVante Parker's fifth-year team option for 2019.

This wasn't as clear cut in Parker's case as some other 2015 first-rounders, but always seemed more likely than not. The enigmatic fourth-year pro will now be due $9.4 million in 2019. That, of course, is guaranteed for injury only. Provided he can pass a physical at the start of the new league year, the Dolphins could move on from Parker without penalty if he struggles through another injury-prone and inconsistent campaign.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport considers the Cardinals a "team to watch" when it comes to trading up for a quarterback.

Per Rapsheet, the Birds are "making a lot of noise about moving up." GM Steve Keim has spoke of the (obvious) need to find a franchise quarterback. The Cardinals, who are picking at No. 15, have average draft ammunition, with nine total picks, three of which are in the top 79. Moving up to the No. 5 or 6 spot might be too prohibitive, but Rotoworld's Josh Norris has the Cardinals landing UCLA's Josh Rosen at No. 10 in his latest mock draft.

Paul Perkins is dealing with a pectoral injury and was spotted with his left arm in a sling at Giants minicamp.

Perkins apparently suffered the injury training on his own. It's unclear how long he might be sidelined, though pectoral injuries can be 6-8 month affairs. Coming off a disappointing, injury-marred sophomore campaign, Perkins was already behind the eight ball when it came to earning 2018 work.

Rams exercised RB Todd Gurley's fifth-year team option for 2019.

After contending for the league's MVP award last season, Gurley is now set to make roughly $9.63 million in what will be the final year of his rookie contract in 2019. A prodigious talent freed from Jeff Fisher's anti-offense, 24-year-old (in August) Gurley should have another monster campaign in 2018.

Andrew Luck (shoulder) is not throwing at veteran minicamp.

"Not even to play catch during warmups," were the words of reporter George Bremer. It's hardly a surprise — GM Chris Ballard said four days ago Luck wasn't throwing — but is still notable. Luck hasn't thrown a live pass — exhibition or otherwise — since Jan. 1, 2017, which was 478 days ago. He turned 28 in the interim and turns 29 in September.
